    I been in a knee immobilizer for about 6 week now. Had to undergo surgery on the 18th of October after both x-ray and mri test. The 4 inch cut on my knee has healed beautiful after 33 days. I can finally shower without worry of infection. I will still be in my knee immobilizer for 2 more weeks before range of motion exercises. What happened you may ask. I went up for a regular layup jumping off that left foot at the gym. It was a simple straight line drive to the basket but my tendon just suddenly ruptured. I did not even get fouled, I saw the defender under the hoop get out the way because I was coming down hard. Honestly it did not hurt but I know something was wrong. I scanned my body as I laid on the floor. I could not help but notice my left knee cap was missing. The ruptured displaced the knee cap. I was able to get on my two feet with the help of the other players on the court but walking calmly on my injured left leg was close to impossible. I manage to hobble out the gym and went straight to the hospital. I hope to anyone reading this learns to respect their body and care for it properly. Btw great educational videos, I am subscribed!

      Same happened to me. I didn’t even make it to the layup tho. Soon as I planted my foot it popped. Looked down and saw my knee cap sitting on my thigh. Pushed it back down but I knew that wasn’t the end of it. I’m in a knee stabilizer & crutches at 9 days in & haven’t had surgery scheduled yet. Can’t wait to get this behind me… miserable & painful smh

    Thanks for this video. I have been unfortunate enough to rupture both my patellar tendons playing soccer ; in 2008 my right, & then nearly 4 years to the day in 2012 my left. I don't take steroids!!

      Im 19 years old 1,5 years ago I had a direct blow in my knee . Due to the bad decision of my doctor like I had only an x-ray and no mri He misdiagnosed . Actually my patellar tendon almost tear And I had to have surgery but i didn't . The MRI I did 8 months later says that my tendon is okay but even now I can't walk for a long distance, i can't go up and down the stairs without pain I can't even straighten my leg when im sitting. ? Is there a chance that I can get my strength in my tendon? Now its too late for surgery,maybe a tendon graft its good idea?

      T parker didn't have the same. He ruptured his up where the quad muscle is, not below the knee cap. They can anchor it below the knee cap, the quadricep tendon does not have any bone to anchor onto.

    The summer before my senior year of high school I did this as well as having the superior tibial tubercle torn off as well. I was told the chances of those happening simultaneously were next to none. Devastating for a college track prospect

    • @trellgold6998
      @trellgold6998 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is devastating for someone in your profession. I have to say I ruptured my patella on a wet floor and before my accident I didn't worry one bit about my footing or wet floors etc but it's been a real eye opener you really do have to be careful
