    You guys are about 60 degrees north, which is in line with the very north or Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta....

    excitement of discovery. What a wonderful way to start your visit to Estonia. BTW - not sure which was funnier - your spontaneous duet or "skating" on the deci of the look out. Isn't travel
    the best! Thanks again for sharing your good times travel.

    Great video, guys! I liked the pace of this video, getting to see pretty much everything you did along the way. It felt like we were right there with you along for the ride! Estonia looks beautiful and clean. I imagine those bogs just teem with life in the warmer weather. The abandoned submarine base is fascinating, too because crumbling structures sometimes reveal how things are made, and they're somehow more interesting and sometimes more beautiful that way. Marc really looked like he was suffering from the cold. So glad you got back to the car, and got some hot cocoa into him!

    • @EileenAldis
      @EileenAldis  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I completely agree with you about crumbling structures sometimes taking on more (or just different beauty) than in their former state. Love the way you put it. Interesting to imagine what the base was like when it was active. The bog was GORGEOUS. Truly couldn't have asked for a better experience there. The forests and air feel clean and fresh. And yes...Marc got his hot chocolate in the end! ;)

      @@EileenAldis Hi ! Loved all the drone video views of the abandoned submarine base area, although too bad your drone ran out of power when it did, however perhaps that was for the best from how cold you & Marc were while there & exploring around. It sounded like you both had a pretty wonderful time checking out spots around by only yourselves.

      The boardwalk is there foremost to preserve the bogs. it takes some seven years for an accidental footprint to disappear.

    • @kevinwestrom4775
      @kevinwestrom4775 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kalle911 Hi, What is the importance of the presence of a footprint or no footprints within a bog? Don't understand why it is so crucial for there to be no footprints by any person within the bog. Why is the presence of a footprint so damaging to a bog there? Is it just an esthetics thing or is there some other reason why any footprint visible is so frowned upon/is so important to the area?

    • @nigelmchugh5541
      @nigelmchugh5541 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@kevinwestrom4775 Bogs are a unique eco-system, and most of the litchens, mosses and flowers that exist there do not appear anywhere else.
      So to preserve sections of it, such boardwalk are put in place.
      Lots of areas of big are harvested for fuel and "peat moss" for gardening purposes, but it's important to preserve some too.

    Yes, the spring is here! Also north of Estonia. Should have winter, but no, we have spring. It's actually a "skiing holiday" when there should be best skiing conditions: no snow anywhere. Days are finally sunny and clear skies, looks like same weather in Estonia. Amazing how fast things go dilapidated, when not in use. Nature takes over and concrete crumbles. Very nice you came to Estonia now, looking forward the next videos!

    • @EileenAldis
      @EileenAldis  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We felt really lucky with the weather on this first day of exploring Estonia! We shot this video a while ago but it was just perfect blue sky and lighting for that bog. In estonia there is over 18% covered with bogs and mires, and 50-51% covered forest, so most land in estonia is covered in nature and estonia is still no very density populated.
