Nice to follow your journey! Yesterday I had a blast with 8 meter wing and gong curve XLT 2100 cm. Foil doesn't stall quick. So relaxing to be able to foil in 8-12 knots. Enjoy the stoke!
Sounds like a good choice for you! I personally didn't want to go to the XXL high aspect because of the extreme width. It would probably be a bit hard to turn
Impressive in those low wind, it’s complicated you have to be clever and do your manoeuvre when there is a gust , you can use the help of the swell to . The wing ppumping range of motion is quite limited on big wing everything is a trade off, low aspect foil give you pump power , high aspect give you glide. I wonder if a long mast could help to have a biggest marging of error. Lots of stuff to try.
There weren't many gusts, the wind was constantly low. But I definitely should time my jibes better to align with the swell as you say! You are very right with the tradeoffs. Still figuring stuff out..
A few suggestions on the light wind jibe that have helped me: Try pumping both the board and the wing before you initiate the jibe to get more speed. As soon as possible after jibing grab the wing and start pumping it (and also the board, but pumping toeside can take some practice). Of course also practice quickly executing the jibe. I see some swell coming through, try to time the jibe to ride the swell when you are going downwind. Apart from the jibe another thing that I at least find helpful is when getting on foil and the board is just starting to come up, pump the hand wing hard it seems to pay dividends as the board is no longer dragging and you just need to get past the stall speed of the foil.
Very good suggestions, thank you! I can pump the board toeside, but I didn't even get to that point. I definitely need to time it better with the swell, that is the key I think.
@@windaddict Some other thoughts, before going into the jibe try to be high on the mast but not so much you will breach in the turn. Finally, look for gusts coming in from upwind and time the jibe for then. Though as mentioned before timing the swell is also good.
Hi, I am 47, not very active, with kite and windsurf experience. Could you advise me on the gear I need. I am 1,87 and 83kg. I would think about 160ltr. My windrange will be from 2-6 Beaufort. Which sizes and shapes do you advise. Looking forward to your reply. Like your efforts. Thanx.
Hi Yvo. I would really recommend you to get in touch with the Gong advisors. They know a lot and respond fairly quickly. Use the contact form on the Gong website: www.gong-galaxy.com/en/help-contact/ From my perspective: The best thing is to take a class. Typically it is 2 days winging on a SUP board. Then 2 days practicing on an e-foil or tow-foil behind a boat in flat water. Then once you are ready to start a 160L board is probably very nice for learning. However fairly soon you will want to go smaller than that. The best windrange for learning is 14-18 knots I would say. A 5m² wing may be the right choice (e.g. the Gong Plus). You should start with a big beginner foil. E.g. the Gong Rise XL could be a great one. But again: the Gong advisors will give you better advice than me.

Thanks for your comment! Sounds amazing! Yes foiling in light wind can be relaxing if you don't have to pump too much 😆
Great video Vilassar! Impressive stuff getting up in 9kts!
Thanks a lot! Love your content!
Great video 👍🏄🏼♂️
Thank you!!
I weight 87kg and I bought the Fluid XXLT for light wind. It goes very well.
XXLT con stab y fuselaje pro, verdad?
Interesting! It's probably a bit easier to use than the high-aspect in very light winds.
@@windaddict si, sale mejor
For lightest wind take an XXL foil, that's what they are made for. I chose the Superpower in 7,5m2 with a smaller wing span for easier pumping.

True. I have the 7.5M superpower gong wing as well and the 135L Hipe First board. With the xxl foil it flies with very low wind.

Awesome. What is the size of the stab?
Hi Eric. Thanks! Gong Stab Pro Fluid H (45cm)
