My only concern is...mixing reef crystals at 1.023 isnt gonna give you the Alk, and Mag you are going to need to long term maintain the LPS coral mainly. Without dosing, maybe kalkwasser, and testing kits and such. And also the duncans need a bit more flow than they are getting currently. Hyger, and jebao make super affordable mini wave makers...roughly $50. These would be super efficient, and sufficient for the 20
@lincolntowns1480 for th3 softies yes. But the Duncan's have a calcium skeletal base. Which needs higher alk and mag so they do not have weakened skeletons. I am by no means a nerd or guru. This is just biology breh
Water changes will be fine for Duncan coral. They grow fast, but don’t really care about lower calcium or alkalinity in the high 7’s. In the long run stability is more important than higher values
@@crath3570 i agree, but mixing reef crystals at 1.023 will be hard to,maintain that 7 with regular depletion and consumption. I understand wc can work, when, mixed at higher salinity so the alk,is higher to make up,the difference. At 1.023 the alk will be no where near the amount needed, because the bag requires to be mixed at 1.026 to be full parameter. Feeding the duncans can also offset this too.
the only problem hes gonna have is the PH dropping indoors, but salinity is okay, i started with 1.023 then slowly climb to 1.025-26 overtime. reef crystals have enough extra elements to supply even SPS just by water changes, especially in a small tank.
Thank you for doing this series of videos ❤. This is fantastic for people like myself who want pretty but simple salt aquariums. I have a coral beauty also, and they are a stunning, beautiful fish and very easy to keep
Oh WOW 😲. I have to say that my favorite is the 25 green chromis. They're such a delicate color shade. And they absolutely just glow against the algae. Which looks like plants by the way. They all look fabulous. Cant wait to watch them grow right along with you. Thanks for doing this series. And going basic with it. It's really amazing to see the varieties of beginners that are available. Thanks.
Kudos to you for the great macro algae tank! 🥰👏 The Duncans and anemonies like quite a bit of flow. Perhaps you could fit something like Ai Nero 3s or 5s to the side panels where the vertical beam is shooting in a pulse mode across the inlet flow. This should create nice pulsating chaotic flow the corals and nems like. 👍
I'm a fish keeper for almost 20 years now, and I was "afraid" of salt water aquarium. BUT! As I'm seeing you do it, as well explained as always (I'm following you since my beginning in the hobby), NOW I wanna give it a try!!
I like what you do with your saltwater tanks. You show you can have a beautiful saltwater tank that is easy and doesn’t cost a house for it. I would use a vca random flow generator for the tank. It’s a game changer for small tanks and you get much better flow without adding a powerhead.
Exciting video of fish and others unboxing! So happy to see you get more and more into the salt water hobby. Love all you got today too! That school of the 25 fish, well they are just a beautiful color, and shape! Like little gems. Looking forward to the next video, and the anemones opening, moving around, whatever happens..LOL. Thanks for sharing!
hi joey ,great video, you are showing beginner type salt water fish ,have you ever done a video on how to do a beginner fish only set up using a cannister filter .I been keeping fresh water for a long time, just wondering ,how you would use a fresh water set up to start a salt water aquarium .cheers , all the best.
Your a inspiration to all fish hobbyists freshwater and now starting down the saltwater path . I’m tempted to start a little fowler tank just dip my toe in see where it ends I’ve kept various freshwater for 30 years your never to old . Keep up the good work joe🇬🇧
Idk what you called those blueish green fish but when you added the first bunch to the aquarium it was like you added a rainbow! They are incredibly beautiful! I'm so enjoying watching your channel..I know nothing about salt water so, am very intrigued with everything you are showing us! Awesome channel!
AMAZING LOOKING TANK AND CONCEPT WOW! Love it!!! I will never keep salt but this tank gives the feels of FW that you can’t get in a saltwater setup. So this is so awesome bc fw scapes are way better than coral any day onfg
I do love your videos Joey, always have. Tho i must say, its improved massively when Tamara graces the camera. Keep up the good work guys. ❤ from Scotland
I have kept many species of fresh and saltwater species. Dragon eel, snowflake moray, flame Angel, nurse shark but my favourite I think was the Mandarin goby
Love the saltwater tanks! Curious if your Xenia are gonna grow out, normally they don’t grow on the sand. Mine never left the island I put them on for 2 years until I put another rock against it. They took that one over in a few weeks. The coral beauty needs a bigger tank, they need a 50 gallon so put him in het other tank.
Hey new fan just discovered your page maybe a month+ now I have a couple questions if you don't mind answering them. #1 are the tetras the only other fish you can keep with the Piranha? Or can you put paku with them? #2 is at 1240 on your video There's a really tiny fish. Is your tetra or piranha have any fry? You can see Them in the back by the logs left side of the tank. It was a pretty small. Last question is because piranha are a pack fish. What's the least amount you would recommend for a smaller fish tank? I leave the size up to you and the amount. Thanks
Absolutely stunning Joey. Pyjama cardinals are pretty nice a good number of them togwther would look good. You still got the lion fish and porkypine puffer?
Great selections and the tanks are real nice. The Coral Beauty will love the caves and passage ways. On your Clown Harem the largest in size is the one that will transform into the female, let's say you take her out ,then it will happen again the biggest fish. Truly remarkable. On the Electric Eel all it has to feel fear of being touched and boom lights will come on and light you up. This size will hit hard.😂That said please pet him ,they love being pet😂🎉
It is nice to see you do saltwater. Saltwater is a long term commitment and it is not for the faint of heart. For those looking for an easy way of clearing your front glass, use RODI water.
@@thekingofdiy I’m talking about spraying RODI water on the outside glass like you would windex and wiping it clean with a nice quality cloth. For the inside, I just use a razor blade on glass with a airline tube to immediately siphon the algae out. Macro algae to help to extent.
Will be cool if you can do a timelaps of the tank life spreading. Put a camera against the tank plug it in let it run on a cloud memory and put in om charge for few month's that videooo will ne amazingggg
there's a piece of caulerpa that fell inside of the RBTA tank. I'd suggest removing it if you didn't see it. It will spread fast. Also do not pop it. Yellow Tangs and Foxface loves eating those though!
I can't believe you didn't get the goby and pistol shrimp pair for the cube. They would be awesome and I hope you're going back for them. Also, what happened to your lion fish and porcupine puffer??? Thought for sure those were keepers for you.
Setup is perfect!!! Anemones you can try, but the chance of losing it is extremely high. In your tanks first year of life, you're going to have many parameter swings, and you're going to make mistakes and anemones are very sensitive to parameter swings. I've seen many times where someone added an anemone and it looks bad and they're wondering why. It's usually the result of a young new tank, or a parameter swing, or a lighting issue. 8 months to a year is usually a good time. But if you can keep everything stable from the beginning, then you might be ok. I really hope they survive. ❤🙂
16:26 I paused the video here and went to cook some food. When I came back I genuinely got scared that I left the fish sitting in the net for an hour and they might have suffered. It took me a hot second to realize that it's a video and I didn't commit an atrocity, thank god.
Pulsing Xenia do not like sand. They will not grow over the sand. You would need to put them on a rock and be prepared for them to take over the whole tank and smother your Dunkan. They grow really quick. Quicker than your Dunkan. Also you need more movement in that tank (Dunkan/PX tank). Love the fish choices. I'm looking to get one of those Coral Beauty's myself. Love the green Chromis just be prepared for a massacre. They will kill each other and watch for diseases on them. They are a beautiful fish. I had a few and won't get any more of them. Good luck with everything. Loving the set ups so far.
Need to add more flow to at least that coral beauty tank. Really all of them could use more flow. Reefs have huge amounts of random water movement. Corals depend on it.
Have been thinking about Saltwater for a while .My daughter has now seen Nemo's (Clown fish) in a tank and wants some with those i've got daddy wrapped round my little finger eyes. So would a 95 gallon be sufficient as i have an empty one or do i need bigger . And yes a lot of hours of research and learning ahead of me i don't just jump in without learning the subject did that 40 years ago and lost a lot of fish . But little does she know if i go ahead she is going to have to help with the maintenance and learn how to use the dishwasher 🤣🤣
95 gallon will give you lots of room to play with and keep a decent variety of species just do your homework basically watch other channels like BRS and Reefdork for example BRS has a whole series on setting up your first marine tank from start to finish
