My sister in law is Nayeli 💕 she lives in Guatemala, love her name!. I also have a girl cousin who is Cielo. See-eh-low is how they say it. Both from Guatemala ❤

All Hawaiian names are unisex. If you want to pronounce them the way Hawaiians do, it's:
Ke'ala -- Kay - ah-luh
Keone -- Kay-o-nay
e makes the a sound and the okina (appostrophe-looking thing) puts a slight pause in-between the syllables.
Nayeli is a beautiful name.
Cielo is also used as a term of endearment in Spanish equivalent to darling/honey.
Ceridwen is my middle name. Loved being reminded of its meaning- thank you! It’s really special to me because it connects me to my family’s Welsh roots, and I’d love if I have children one day for their names to do the same so I’m excited for your Welsh name video! Xx
I'm 71, so I'm totally comfortable with cursive fonts and eccentric handwriting, but this font is so loopy, I really have to study it to differentiate some ambiguous letters.
I agree, I was taught to write cursive in school, and still couldn’t read the handwriting and had to rewind to hear the names. I hope SJ tries another broader print (:

As a completely random idea, given the rise in popularity of the F1 and Netflix's Drive To Survive series, an F1/racing themed name list could be cool! I think of names like Ayrton, Valtteri, Sebastian.. there'd probably be something for everyone 😊

I love Evangeline ever since I watched Nanny McPhee 😅 I always thought the character Evangeline was so lovely and pretty so now I just associate the name with those qualities
I've always loved Evangeline as a subtle Disney name and love the nickname Evan for a little girl. Now that I know the meaning I love it even more!
I knew a Ceridwen in highschool. Here in the states we pronounced it KEER-dwen. And she had a sister named Bronwyn. I always loved their names.

Love Cielo. As for pronunciation, I can't speak to Spaniard Spanish but Latin American Spanish pronounces the C like an S generally, so that's the pronunciation I'm most familiar with living in the states. Ciel is also an option if you want to avoid confusion.

idk if someone has already mentioned it, but Cielo in Argentina (and I'm guessing Latin America as well) is usually a girl's name, despite ending in -o (common ending for boy names). Loved the video!

I am looking for an ultra-feminine (not too out there) short middle name to go with Maverick (for a girl), I haven't found anything I love that goes so far. I used to like Grace, but I stopped loving that after watching Grey's Anatomy and now it reminds me of the hospital! Also, what do you think of Elowen and Maverick as sibling names - are the vibes too different?
Some ideas: Maverick Emmeline, Maverick Genevieve, Maverick Penelope, Maverick Seraphina. Hmm, I feel like another unisex or word name would fit better with Maverick (ex Copland, Huntley, Calloway, Wilde, Golden, Whimsy)

I noticed you mentioned the name Veda but I was wondering if 'Seveda' is an actual name. I want to possibly use it in the future but I just want to know if it's an actual name or if I just made it up
I just looked it up and and it is a name. I guess it’s a word in Slovene (Slovenia) meaning ‘of course, obviously’ but on the name meaning I found it said love, passion. Apparently the first record of that name in the US was 1913 and since then less than 5 people per year are given Seveda as a name. It’s a name anyway. If you like it I vote use it!

Nayeli is an Indigenous Mexican name from the Zapotec people. It's popular in Mexico and in the U.S. in the Latine community. Just something to consider.

Hi SJ, I have a question for you. As a presumably white person, how aware are you of cultural appropriation in regards to names? I often see you recommending names from oppressed cultures but I'm not sure I've ever seen you warning your viewers to only use names that are appropriate for them.
Yeah I sometimes wonder about this, especially with Hawaiian names as I know indigenous Hawaiians do not like non-Hawaiians using their names as their naming culture is so sacred
I was thinking the same thing and wanted to add that Nayeli is an Indigenous Mexican name from the Zapotec people. As a Mexican American with indigenous heritage I know that some Mexicans don't like people of non indigenous heritage using indigenous names.
She has spoken on this a little before. Think it was on a ‘spirit animal’ name list (can’t remember the actual title).

@@93trome no it isn’t. Hawaiian names and naming traditions are very sacred, most non-Hawaiian people don’t understand their significance and using them is a form of cultural appropriation. Italian names don’t hold that kind of importance and Italy is not a victim of colonisation or oppression.
