You can tie the tree in the pot this makes it more stable and prevents smaller roots from being disturbed, if you can explain more in detail about the soil mixes like percentages of what you use. Sifting soil will make drainjng even better and allow more oxygen to the roots. Good work, sure the little ollie will bounce back.
Hi Dean, my apologies for only replying now...I am terrible at replying. It's doing OK now. Needs a repot again and I have left it to grow out a bit. A repot will do wonders I think.
Great video, hopefully the tree is doing well. Substrate is looking good !, small tip next time. Don't pour it out of the bag because the small dust particles will go into the soil, clogging up the spaces. Experts say use a sieve. Ill just wash it before hand and let it dry for a few days. For inside bonsai I think it helps the tree adjust better if the groundsubstrate is roomtemprature .
Hi...tree is doing very well thanks. The dust looks worse than it is I think. Have never had a problem before but will be careful. Thank you for the advice. Will post a follow up video soon.
IMHO, I don't think the pot is suitable for bonsai, especially for a tree such as olive that loves good drainage. The pot is glazed on the inside and therefore the potting medium cannot properly "breathe". Enjoyed your video.
Thanks for the reply and advice. I'll look into this. I do prefer normal unglazed pots for all my trees. I just like the look and feel of an unglazed pot. I have glazed pots lying around though so might as well use them. The pot does drain well though. Will keep an eye on the tree.
