In 1997, I exchanged letters with Mr Smethurst, and my friend Ray Puxley and I planned to go to Grimsby to interview him, but I returned to Canada in 1998....I still have the very nice letter the Singing Postman wrote to me.

It's a fairly pretty market town in Norfolk, sort of between Ipswich and Norwich. It's got a mere which apparently is one of the deepest in the country. My mum lived there.
