In this video, we embarked on an exciting adventure from Malshej Ghat to the mysterious Naneghat. Initially, it was just the three of us, but we were later joined by two more friends driving a Tata Harrier 🚙.
🌍 This earth is full of mysterious places waiting to be explored, and one such lesser-known gem in India is the waterfall at Naneghat in Maharashtra. Nestled in the Western Ghats near Junnar in Pune, this spot is about three hours from Mumbai. The cryptic mountain here hosts a unique phenomenon-a reverse waterfall, where the water flows upward due to the strong winds! 🌬️💧
📜 Historically, this trekking route served as a trade path centuries ago, possibly during the reign of Chhatrapati Shivaji. Ancient caves and rock-cut pots tell tales of bygone eras. Visitors often describe Naneghat as heaven on earth when viewed from the top.
Naneghat, an ancient mountain pass in the Western Ghats, was a crucial trade route between Kalyan (Konkan coast) and the Junnar region during the Satavahana reign (200 BCE-190 CE). The name 'Naneghat' translates to 'coin pass', hinting at its historical significance in trade and toll collection.
🏞️ For trekking enthusiasts, Naneghat is a must-visit. First-timers can join trekking expeditions to witness the mesmerizing reverse waterfall, best seen during the monsoon. The trek spans 4-5 km (one way) through the Ghatghar forest and takes about 5 hours round trip. The route, marked for convenience, is of medium difficulty. Remember to wear sturdy trekking shoes, especially in monsoon! 🥾🌧️
Alternatively, you can drive to the top and enjoy hot bhajiyas and tea at a quaint dhaba 🛣️🍵.
    Essential items to carry:
    Torch 🔦
    Power-packed food 🥙
    Medication 💊
    Water bottle 🥤
    Wind-cheater and waterproof jacket 🌧️
    Umbrella ☔
    Sunglasses 🕶️
    Cash 💵
    Power bank 🔋
    Warm clothes 🧥
    How to reach Naneghat Waterfalls?
Take a state transport bus from Kalyan bus stand to Junnar. Naneghat is located on the Malshej Ghat road, close to Vaishakhare village. It is easily accessible by road. Several trekking groups operate from Mumbai and Pune and can be found online.
