‘Expressing what lives in you, which sometimes cannot be done with words but can be done in images, is a very important therapeutic tool.’ Following the ‘Erich Heckel in Flanders’ exhibition, the Museum of Fine Arts Ghent, invited psychiatrist Dirk De Wachter to talk about the power of art in difficult times. German expressionist Erich Heckel created a lot of work in the most turbulent period of his life, especially during the First World War.
