Rest In Peace JT Walsh (the trucker) he died only a year after this movie, he wasn't as famous as other actors but still a very familiar face in many movies from the 80s and 90s.

Agreed, the elements (plot, characterization, etc) you mention are simple enough, but skillfully and powerfully constructed, and the action is non-stop, pulse-pounding, suspenseful. I've watched 'Breakdown' maybe 3-4 times, and even though I know exactly how it ends, it still manages to feel freshly, breathlessly tense and exciting with each viewing.
I like the movie too, mainly because I have a thing for desert diner, gritty remote locations, 1990's films. I wish I new of more films like this, especially obscure films based in deserts with lot's of diner or gas station scenes.
@PhantomRobazza Try it's a mad, mad, mad, mad world it's set in the 60's it's got desert and gas stations. It's a comedy but it's fun and if you like the old bleached look on film you may appreciate it.

There should remain at least one person awake to keep the driver company, and the latter should refrain from driving when feeling (even slightly) drowsy.

Hi there greetings from Australia 🇦🇺 I am sick and tired and I am in bed 🛌 with a flu so I can see a lot of movie 🎬 this is a good one next week back to work have a great weekend 🇦🇺 John
This film has an overlap with the first Wolf Creek. The first Wolf Creek with the great John Jarrett, was also caused because of an unlucky or ill advised roadside stop in the Australian desert.
I remember watching this movie years ago and it really made me think about trusting people, it may be a movie but it could happen. Thankyou ✨️ please stay safe everyone 🙏🏻🇦🇺
It's not a very sensible thing to do, taking a ride from a stranger. He had no idea who the guy is and he took no record of the truck. The biggest question is why would you separate all for the sake of getting your car stolen. Look at it like this, would you prefer to lose your arm or the car..
This happens a lot in action movies- nobody has to explain things to the police. Especially at the end. Bodies everywhere, weapons all over, automotive carnage on the highway... Can you imagine having to explain everything to the police, the paperwork, the crime scenes that need to be investigated, the evidence collected? In real life it would be nutz.
You are overlooking something. Rex Linn shot M C Gainey after Gainey shot him, and Linn witnessed Russell using Linn's radio to call for an ambulance. The look of gratitude on Linn's face. There's no better alibi than a cop.
Good movie. I remember when I was travelling with a friend and my car broke down on the middle of nowhere in Colorado and I told her we should ask someone, so many pickups pass through and she refuses 😂 She must have watched to many of these She was so stressed out

This is where needing help and a seemingly nice average person just happens to appear out of nowhere collide. If you trust people out in the middle of the desert, and they know your stranded, don't go with your feelings, go with your instincts . Even if it means waiting for a cop or walking (together) for miles to get to a safe place or get legitimate help.

Good film, reminds me of Duel, crossed with Deliverance. Guy dont want to leave car along, but will leave his wife alone in middle of nowhere with a guy in a truck.
Kurt Russell played one of the stupidest guys ever to live. So stupid that it's even unbelievable. I mean him leaving the barn while still one was out there and giving the guy the oppertunity to free his mates again makes no sense whatsoever. Also leaving the keys in the barn of the cellar. So the mates could easily be freed.
