If you slide a butter knife in the gap between the number dials and the sliding square and push the handle toward the sliding square it unlocks mine was locked with no plastic strip when I got it from Walmart
The instructions that came with it says if you forget the combo or it simply won't open after the combo has been set ( which is what happened to me) then set the combo back to all zeros & it should open. Didn't work for me. Maybe it will for someone else. Lucky for me I hadn't put anything in it. Back it goes to Target!

I think it depends on the model you have because the first video talks about a plastic piece behind the numbers. My box had no piece like that. The 2nd one uses a butter knife. Didn't work on mine.
