Matterhorn climb part 4, Hörnli ridge - Crampon trouble - Foz cam

After beginning the climb and having issues with his headtorch, experiencing moments where he is climbing in complete darkness. Fozzy now realises his Crampons are not entirely compatible with his boot.

This took some investigation and practical experiments on return to the UK, but reason they are not entirely compatible is because the adjustment bar on the rear half of the crampon, can in certain situations become lodged between the large tread pattern of the boot and when force is exerted on the "push off" the bar lifts the pin out of its locking hole and the rear half of the crampon bursts out of situation with a loud snap. Very unnerving for a fairly novice climber attempting his biggest challenge to date, exposed on the Hörnli ridge.
