Swayambhu Mishra what I know about xuv 500's awd is that it's not operational at all time. neither u get a switch or button for 2wd to 4wd. It changes automatically to AWD when car feels it is stuck at some place where front wheels are rotating but back isn't moving.
it has a button to lock to AWD all the time. be default, AWD is in auto mode, rear wheel gets power only when its required or you switch on the button and you get full time AWD
@@jithu2693 I am contradicting myself but thinking more about I think AWD won't help here, Because it's different than 4x4. Open differentials are the problem. So I think XUV 500 AWD is not good enough for of roading.

Dude, that the central differential lock which splits power 50:50 front and back. It was locked FYI but car still can't move because of open differentials at front and rear axle.. Any car would need 50:50 side to side torque split which can be provided only by front and rear differential lockers, which sadly aren't there on Fortuner.

Touchwood, my car has been doing all this throughout its life and I am sure it will continue to do so for many many thousand kms in coming years. All feels tight and snug in my car, no rattles or mechanical issues.

XUV does not have low range gearing reduction, so it is impossible to avoid such Jerks whenever recovering in high range, else the clutch will take the damage.The recovery points on both cars are sturdy so there was no damage in this recovery.
Axle articulation is vertical wheel travel - as in, how far the axle can move up and down relative to the chassis. Articulation is what allows the vehicle keep all four tires in contact with the ground on rough terrain, which provides better stability and allows the vehicle to maintain traction. (Source: Google)

Winch is in front of my car. There was no anchor point in front to make recovery using winch and recovering towards the front was also not feasible because the car was lying flat on its engine skid plate. Recovery from the front side would have damaged the underbody. Anyway, the moral of this video is: Never venture out alone for off-roading, always have at least one back up car and always carry the basic recovery equipment while going out. It is very easy to get stuck while off-roading and recovery can be super frustrating experience for those who don't have necessary recovery equipment.
SAKA Production, yeah sadly. But as you can see I was barely touching the sidewall. The base plastic on the RVM has become very brittle due to age of the car, so it broke with such a small impact. Anyway, getting the broken piece replaced.

Car was to be recovered in reverse direction, and anyways winch controller is not working so waiting for spare part to arrive.
