- Second half goals from Riyad Mahrez and Julian Alvarez saw City book a place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with a 2-0 victory over Chelsea.
Mahrez broke the deadlock with a precision free-kick from the edge of the box that left Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy rooted to the spot.
And when Mendy denied the Algerian winger five minutes later, Julian Alvarez was in the right spot to turn in the rebound.
Stefan Ortega Moreno, making his third start since joining the Club in the summer, also impressed with a string of fine saves to keep a clean sheet.

Grealish? He's the type of attacker who looks flashy but seldom delivers. He's only scored one goal this season and has NO assists. So yeah, it looks flashy but his effectiveness is extremely low. So maybe next time instead of taking a ton of shots like in this match, he passes it to players who do know how to score.

The deflection did come and he tapped that into the goal. I would rather have a striker who can score goals rather than playing brilliantly and missing sitters.

Grealish is basically a right-footed Mahrez imo, and remember that Mahrez needed a lot of time to settle in City. The price tag put a lot of pressure on him but it's kinda unfair to blame it on him, he's still a really good player despites all the haters.

His runs forward and movement into space was fantastic, and ofc as always he was the most fouled player. He wasn't just looking for a pass back, he was finding space and slicing through the defence. And today he even got a lot of good shots on the 45 which are opportunities for goals and potential rebounds. It seems like no one can take the ball of him. People can learn a lot from him. Amazing player and person.

Grealish has never been a great goal scorer.
He has always been great at creating chances, but not very good at finding the back of the net.
At Villa he was very good at making assists, but at City, he has not been close to being that good at that.
And even with Haaland in the team this season, he is still not close to making the assists he made at Villa.
You clearly see that Grealish stresses a lot about scoring goals.
Also in this game.
And that makes it even harder to score.
Often you see him signaling way to clearly and early to the defenders and goalkeeper where he is going to shoot, and that makes it much easier for the defenders to block and the goalkeeper to save his shots.
In my opinion, should he focus more on giving assists or driving all the way towards the goal instead of trying to shoot from a distance.
He is great at attracting fouls and he would give City lots of penalties if he decided to drive towards the defenders inside the box.
It would also make it much easier for him to score if they are to scared of fouling him and let him close to the goal.
He should play more like almiron
