The real gut punch is the tubs of precious things, christmas ornaments, ect., my kids did not want. They truly couldn't care less. I had lugged those tubs around different states over their lives to give to them as adults and they did not want any of it! And I never took into consideration their future spouses who didn't want disney christmas trees. All the love I thought I was giving them wasn't love. It was just plastic junk.
Heyyy 👋 a little message from Florida that I thought about all night. We live here and our friends and family have worked at Disney for decades. A little behind the scenes- what you can’t see is when Covid happened (& 💯 Chapek) they laid off SO many seasoned (the more expensive salaried) cast members, it would make your head spin. The person yelling about the rope had to be new and not a mother (we’ve all had to step out of line for water or a potty break and go back, a seasoned cast member would know that) the good news is now that Iger is back many are getting their jobs back. Many of whom love Disney and that love brings back the feeling it was missing & it WAS. Under Chapek & TO Chapek it was just a business, you are right. The biggest part is Disney is apolitical- always. It does not take sides, everyone is welcome and they’re STILL trying to get out of the ridiculous political mess Chapek’s mouth got them into. All of this to say: PLEASE don’t let one money-hungry, very political CEO bring his issues to the table in a way that ruins Disney for you and your family. We hope you’ll be back. I love your videos & follow your Instagram, too. (Maybe pack it all up but don’t feel like you have to sell everything, just yet. 😘)
I think that you are reminded of the lost of innocense is bigger than you realize. Disney represented family, childhood, fantasy, and magic. Now with their core values changing, its hurtful. So many things since Covid have changed the same way. I recently asked my husband why should an illness cause the entire world to change. Its hard to accept.
I think it can be very confronting decluttering stuff that we MASS collect or obtain. I think it’s a good lesson to help to not over collect again in the future. It’s layers of stuff…then you might realise that you have too much stuff in your office or wardrobe etc. you have taken the first steps. I’m proud of you.
I completely understand re-finding yourself. I understand drawing some boundaries on what you will and won't support. I welcome the decluttering content! I think we all go through a similar experience through life. Whether it is your newfound life with kids, motherhood, friendships, jobs, you name it, life changes are hard. 💗
Hi Kristin, I’ve been here since the beginning so I understand how hard the Disney declutter is for you. I attach sentimental value to items too and it’s hard to let go of the item bc it’s attached to such a precious memory. My therapist told me that memories and things aren’t the same. No one can take away your memories and that “things” are just that - they are “things” - they aren’t the people we love or memories we cherish. Hugs to you!
Kristen ❤ it is hard! Memories remain - things are things …. As people, we change & it’s such an amazing adventure - go & grow! You’re right … sadly Disney has decided to chase the money & the magic is gone … &&&& most importantly… YAY you!! HoooooRay!!! You did the hard thing ❤
Whoo Kristen-this video had me all emotional too. I'm pretty sure you were the first TH-camr I started following. It was when I was first attempting Konmari (you also introduced me to planners lol). Anyway I was a huge Disney fan as well and had ALL the things. Just like you, I hit a point when I was just done, but I could not get rid of my Disney stuff. I had to wait until I did another round of decluttering and I still didn't get rid of much, but eventually I was able to part with it. I was almost physically sick thinking about how much money I spent (wasted) on Disney stuff. So I felt your pain and totally understood what you were feeling {vitural hugs!}
Totally get where you're coming from. My husband had thousands and thousands of dollars invested into disney, too, and Marvel and Star Wars since the 70s. The Lord opened his eyes that this was an idol in his life. After 50 plus years, he is free from that burden. A lot we donated, gifted, and even tossed away. Like you, it was a family tradition and a lifetime of memories. I think he only kept 2 pins and the family pictures, of course. Hugs to you❤.
I am decluttering and organizing while watching your videos! So I’m super grateful for your content. Change is hard! But like others have said it’s okay to grow and have different interests/styles!!
something that I love to do when we separate things into totes for storage is to use the blue type of painters tape and a sharpie marker. It wont make a sticky mess when you re use the tote and you don't have to worry about trying to get the marker off the outside of the totes either.
It’s difficult to let go of things that you loved so much, I can’t imagine what you are you through, and the emotions that your feelings. Hopefully you will feel lighter once this is completed for you
I can imagine it was hard because there were memories attached to the items and if you get rid of it, then you are getting rid of memories. Thank you for being so open you are helping others understand that it is healthy to do so. Also I hope you make a lot from your items you are selling.
I love Disney myself and haven't been to the parks in almost 10 years. I don't have Disney plus but I've watched Disney movies on TV and watch Disney Jr with My little Niece's who loves Bluey and lady bug.
For anyone who may not be aware....collectibles can be worth more if they are in the original box. Also, I think I remember hearing that anything "Stitch" was highly collectible, or at least it was.
I had cast members yelling at us at Disneyland while we were trying to find a spot to watch the parade. Worst experience ever. And that was before crap hit the fan. I’ve been watching you a long time, I like all your content!
Don't cry but I totally understand the emotional challenge that's connected to you, past or present..that is why I HAVEN'T de- cluttered but need to. My heart goes out to you for your journey ❤
Watching this makes me nauseous. I need so bad to go through my Disney stuff. I’m so disheartened by where Disney has landed. I have been doing D since 1979 as a kid. As an adult taking my kids sometimes twice a year. EVERYyear since 2003. I’m having a rough time letting go. What do I do with my Dooney collection, the Loungeflys, the $100 sprit jerseys. All the other crap. To watch the rapid decline is hard. I still remember the 90’s when it was questionable if D would even survive. Remember the fast pass that just worked, now virtual Q’s. Spending so much time navigating the app, which has become an absolute necessity, leaving people like my mom unable to even get food. My friend just got back, she said I spent over 1 thousand dollars and left 3 hrs in. She stated when a cast member screamed at them when their 2 yr old went under a rope and in trying to catch him they went under a rope was humiliating they just left. She said never again. Good for you though getting it done. Wish me luck in doing the same. Don’t take this the wrong way but things like those Funkos are a solid waste of hard earned cash. My solution is I’m hunting antique D stuff from back when it was magical. It’s super hard to locate so you won’t have totes and totes of it, plus it takes me back to a time when the world in general was better.
You are grieving a time gone by. I understand. I too used to be a huge passionate Disney Fan. The Disney that Walt intended does not exist any longer. I also can no longer support the Disney company. I used to receive such joy. The anticipation of entering Main Street was so magical. That magic is gone. The veil has been lifted for me. The magic is gone. I feel like all I can see is the evil undertones that have now come out. Be gentle with yourself and know you are not alone. 💔
Sweet friend, it’s cause you are grieving the loss of a friend that let you down! You’re sad! And that’s okay! It’s terrible when someone or something that’s important to us disappoints us. ❤sending you support ❤
I saw your video of decluttering the attic first time viewer. I was like look at all that money they have spent on all of that . Pay off your mortgage if you have one and be debt free . All people are doing is making Disney executive rich.
I think you’re feeling the loss of love for a company that became a huge part of your life and you’re regretting all the time, love and money you invested in it. Forgive yourself, cry and move on. Be proud that you have stopped the cycle and are trying to recover some of your money. Big lesson learned. We all learn lessons on our journey of life. ❤
I am working on declutter 28 items each week in January, and one sheet of paper can be counted as one item, according to my rules. This will help me to be more intentional about what I have.
Im an American Girl doll fan and collector have been since i was a little girl its a huge part of my life theirs some things that American Girl has done that I don't agree with and when it happened i didn't buy a certain doll or read a few cerin books yhat i didn't agree with still love American Girl doll their a huge part of my life and they've gotten their crap together within the lasr Year or so but im not gonna stop collocting.
As you get older, things become just that - things! You will always have your memories. I also know the pain of realizing how much money can get spent on collections whether its for your hobby or for the sake of collecting. I hope this doesn't come across wrong, but consider a child or family that cannot afford the disney stuff. Have you considered donating to a children's home, hospital? Even to an adult assisted living with a memory care unit. I know it would be hard, because I understand the need to sell things too. It's just a suggestion about donating.
Maybe it would have been easier to donate those items two years ago when you decided to box them up? Maybe something to think about for the future...And I think it is OK to hand onto items for emotional reasons, even if you have no plans to use them again.
New sub here! Enjoying all your decluttering videos! I understand why u won’t go in depth on your channel about Disney! Glad you r ridding yourself of them! When the truth comes out Disney merchandise will be burned in the streets! Whoever asked if they are bad 💯
Do yourself a favor. Give yourself grace, and space for this. Maybe set yourself a goal that by July you will look at the clothing when you do not feel so overwhelmed.
I love Disney as much as the next person but every time I think of going to the parks, I just think of what else I could spend that money on and I can’t bring myself to spend that. $10k for a week and that’s if we watch where every penny goes. It makes me sick.
Maybe it’s emotional to go through the close because a part of you is grieving who you used to be when you bought them. Idk. I’m not an expert. But definitely seems like a sort of grieving process.
This one got a little emotional. What area of your house would be the most emotional to declutter?
The real gut punch is the tubs of precious things, christmas ornaments, ect., my kids did not want. They truly couldn't care less. I'm so proud of you, Kristin, for getting rid of things that are no longer serving you well.

I have enjoyed your decluttering series. And I appreciate your openness on this video! You did a wonderful job! ❤

I’m so glad to see this type of content back! It’s so relatable and motivating. Well done!
I love Disney myself and haven't been to the parks in almost 10 years. I don't have Disney plus but I've watched Disney movies on TV and watch Disney Jr with My little Niece's who loves Bluey and lady bug.
I've seen "new" Disney movies a few years later once their on TV.
I got super emotional with decluttering my daughters baby stuff. It took me years to get rid of the stuff we didn’t need anymore.
I feel the same way you do about the situation. Haven’t been back to WDW in years.
For anyone who may not be aware....collectibles can be worth more if they are in the original box. Also, I think I remember hearing that anything "Stitch" was highly collectible, or at least it was.
Virtual hugs, I completely understand your struggle.
I had cast members yelling at us at Disneyland while we were trying to find a spot to watch the parade. Worst experience ever. And that was before crap hit the fan.
I’ve been watching you a long time, I like all your content!
I hate that happened to you too. :( and thank you so much for watching all of these years.
Hugs. Let this journey bring you peace❤
Just started watching. But wanted to say thank you for recommending the book
Love & Other Words. I LOVED it!! A new favorite 😍
Yay!!! I am so glad you liked it. All time fave of mine. ❤️

Could you have a quilt or blanket made from the clothes?
I would love to buy the jack skellinton funko pop from u for my daughter
I think I actually sold it already. Thank you, though.
Anything Tigger i would be potentially interested in...😊
You did an amazing job!

I think you are so right. Thank you for sharing that with me. :)
Anything that belonged to my parents. I lost them both as a young adult, and each of them young also. A void in my children's life as well.
That’s completely understandable. I would be the same way. :)
Hi just wondering is the Disney clothing on the link please
That was all donated. :)
I am working on declutter 28 items each week in January, and one sheet of paper can be counted as one item, according to my rules. This will help me to be more intentional about what I have.
How do you find out if any of those items are worth any money?
I always check Mercari and eBay at prices and what they have sold for.
You could sell a lot of the clothes on Poshmark or Depop.
What do the Disney clothes represent to you?
What are the new core values of Disney?
Good question.

You can sell these, I'm sure.
I love Disney as much as the next person but every time I think of going to the parks, I just think of what else I could spend that money on and I can’t bring myself to spend that. $10k for a week and that’s if we watch where every penny goes. It makes me sick.

Are you boycotting Disney?
Disney has gotten way too Big and they've lost their values their all about money and not about family and kids
I've heard that Disney has become so woke that it's just ridiculous.
