I am sitting on the sundeck on the top floor of Horton Plaza watching this video. It’s now largely deserted, there are no businesses up here anymore. It seemed fitting to watch these clips and remind myself what this building used to represent to the city

I visited HP opening week in 1985, I was in high school when Horton Plaza opened , it became a really popular place for high school kids to hang out, i'm getting flashbacks watching this, so many memories from so long ago.

That lead singer is Harvey of Harvey and the 52nd street jive. They worked extensively throughout the sandiego area during the 1980's and 1990's. They bring back good memories.

Back when bartenders were hired because they knew how make drinks not because they have silicon filled chests.

I remember, was living there at the time. It was good for years, but went downhill. Things change.

I was there when it was packed daily. Up until the early 2000’s due to gentrification and online retail you could tell the mall was slowly dying. There was high turnover with retailers and a lot of the stores were over priced. Especially Sam Goody and FAO Schwartz! They didn’t last long.

With enough time, anything becomes obsolete. Horton Plaza bit the dust. Eventually, TH-cam will too.

Strange that this begins with John Williams' Olympic Fanfare, which had been composed for the Summer Olympics the previous year. Olympics ... retail ... I don't really see the connection.
