There was a lot of mismanagement here. The SHFSS line, the True Bone Carving "subline" if you will, has prices in this range. They scan the suits and actors, and they carve the skeletal structure of the figure first - rib cage, femur, clavicle, etc - and build off that. Each figure is from the ground up and they amalgamate different poses and angles into one product. I had a full section on this but omitted it in the final video, this went on long enough and honestly I don't think anyone would care. If someone honestly believes "SHMA line is a different team so they don't know better" iunno what to tell them.
(note: of course I know that, I've been following this line since it started and have spoken to employees long before the people parroting and pushing that started collecting or have been tourists chasing clout. Bandai knows better.)
This is why you're my favorite reviewer, Steven. What you're doing IS a review, not a figure showcase + fanboying. If there's a flaw, you point it out. If there's a room for improvement, you spill it out. If the credit is due, you credit them. My issue with the folks who disagree with you is that, they took too much into consideration what the companies had been through, or the inner issue, etc., instead of the customer's pov. That of which we, as the CUSTOMER, not employee, were never meant to know. If we never meant to know all the business decision, why must we took it into consideration when giving the verdict to the product. Tamashii won't care for your issues. Yes, Tamashii doesn't have it as easy as Hiya, but that's exactly why they need to innovate, to find a solution to a problem currently unforeseeable to be solved with the way things were ran thus far. Cuz hey, on the fripside, they won't care about your issues when you do want their figures. Oh, you just got into a car crash and need to pay lots of med bills, lost your job, your wife left with the kids, and now you want a bit of escapism by buying a figure of your childhood fav character, but could only pay 50% of our asking price? Get lost, pay me in full. Yea, they expect you to pay in full for what could be seen as half-baked. There are issues from A-Z, but when they won't care about your issues, since it meant to be kept behind your own closed doors, like their own issues, why should we care as well. It's also kinda funny if they said that Tamashii don't want your money, kinda arrogant and issa product, ofc they want customer's money. Oh yea, I forgot, we're just children who couldn't afford it, I'm sorry. Hey, not that we couldn't afford it, we don't want to. I get that maaaaany had waited for JJ figure, so yes they'll able to look away from a lot of stuff that could be improved upon. But if the benchmark is ppl who are content with it, then the product would never grew. Granted you can't be too unreasonable with your demands, but brushing off everything that could be improved upon within the realm of possibilities, based on ppl are happy and content kinda led the brand into stagnation. I've seen arguments as to why JJ had few joint cuts unlike SHF, especially since issa straightforward design. But ofc I would argue that so does SHF Ultraman and the cuts are the best in the business. If you're happy that you finally got an articulated JJ, I'm happy for you. But you could still criticize what you love and see rooms for improvements. Especially when you branded your video or post as a review. It kinda reminds me of the Marques Brownlee situation, where him actually reviewing a product that is bad was seen as a wrong thing to do. While it is in fact the essence of review. I also kinda laugh when they called you having a messiah complex of "I buy it so you don't have to", but it is the logical consequences of being a reviewer. You don't only buy what you enjoy, but buy what others in your set field may be interested in. You gave your close to objective verdict so that ppl could make a decision to buy it or not. Instead of them buying first and then regretting it cuz of issues not mentioned in promos. This is truly a great review of JJ, if not in general. It's not a figure showcase, but is an actual review with verdict based on customer's pov and not giving you 1001 excuse why a company can't do what you want and how everything is ok the way it is. Keep it up, Steven
Yeah, from 30 feet away. The figure itself is still a low effort piece of trash, specially considering that this was supposed to be an "anniversary" figure and celebration of the character. How embarrassing
This is honestly the best review I’ve seen of this figure. People are just so blinded by collecting and not paying attention to the details that even though it may be the only figure they’ve made so far of a certain character, it doesn’t mean it’s the best or last chance to have it. I really think you hit the nail on the head with Tamashii’s business practices behind closed doors and clearly just putting out low effort figures that aren’t worth the money at all. This is such a simple figure to execute that it’s honestly astounding that they missed the mark completely. Your suggestions for the cuts on the figure are perfect and they emulate and replicate things that they’ve already done with Ultraman and Kamen Rider figures alike. This is just a case of Tamashii not wanting to lose money on the production costs of the product and just releasing an old design of a figure without any updates to the design or articulation. Just to make a quick buck. They have so many licenses that I honestly do not know how they even keep up and I understand Bandai is a large company but we’ve had so many misses with the SHF and SHM lines that it’s hard to ignore. The quality is questionable at this point and it makes me even anxious to even preorder some new figures from my favorite line which is dragonball. So yeah, it’s definitely a systemic issue if the different teams working on different lines aren’t learning anything from the clear success of other products they’ve released. You’re one of the best figure reviewers on this platform and it’s nice to actually hear constructive criticism and feedback that is completely on point. Tamashii is missing a lot lately and it’s just disappointing.
Great review. I was legit shocked at the limited articulation on this toy. Especially for a figure released in current year. They really should just end the monsterarts line if each figure is going to be a mess with bad QC.
SHMA saw it was JJ anniversary and really gave him cake. The indents on the silver look like stretch marks to me. I was looking forward to this figure JJ is so cool, but this is a little bad, but seeing as it’s the only highly articulated figure… idk if I’ll pick it up.
What is wrong with you? He is based on the new Jet Jaguar suit from last year's Godzilla fest titled "Operation Jet Jaguar" not the old Jet Jaguar suit from 1973 and that's the reason why does he look like also there's some many complaining "why does his head looked like that?" "Why does Jet Jaguar have thicc thighs" even some other stuff and why can you just act smarter instead of acting dumber? don't hate on Japan just because of Sh Monsterarts Bandai and Tamashi Nations you racist!
JJ is an example of how to not make an articulated humanoid from the same company that made the 3.0 body for Super Saiyan Namek Goku. Hell, even the 2.0 body standard they have been doing for god knows how long now. Even if both lines cant share parts, MonsterArts has done their own take on 2.0 legs with Kong and Godzilla 72, so why abandon it on the figure that it can easily be done for? I pray for Skar King, he is shaping up to have the same joint system as JJ, but his shoulder joint shouldn't be as limited as JJ's due to the torso shape, but i'm ready to be corrected once it releases lol.
The Figuarts team is different from the Monsterarts team. JJ is from the Monsterarts team. Goku is from the Figuarts Team. Figuarts knows how to price their stuff and make good figures. Look at Eleking from the Figuarts line and compare him to any of the recent Monsterarts figures. Eleking blows them out of the water.
@@Leech-3 I get that, but that doesn't explain why figures like Godzilla 72 and GvK Kong have similar articulation cuts to SHFA's 2.0 style that should be on this figure but is mysteriously lacking. Dear Steven toy reviews Godzilla for the ps4 and ps3 used Sh monsterarts as modeling tools for the kaiju in the game. So Essentially it predicted Mechagodzilla 1974, Jet jaguar, and hedorah
I’m going to say this. The Sh Monsterarts Gigan 2004 figure wasn’t 100% accurate to the actual suit but people still liked the figure. I actually don’t know why people don’t like this Jet Jaguar figure, maybe it’s because Gigan was an older figure and people just excused it and Jet Jaguar is a newer figure?
Nope, people voiced opinions on it. Then-Bluefin even commented it was a prototype and might have changed, and it didn't. Further it was made by the designer who based it closer to his own original concept, but at the time it was a wild contrast to the accuracy we had.
I feel Jet Jaguar could’ve been a slam dunk if it was handled by the SHF tokusatsu folks.

You didn’t like it but I’m still going to get him!
There's a difference between criticism and hating it~

Dear Steven toy reviews
Godzilla for the ps4 and ps3 used Sh monsterarts as modeling tools for the kaiju in the game. So Essentially it predicted Mechagodzilla 1974, Jet jaguar, and hedorah
I'm afraid to watch :/
Unboxing? Don't you mean review?
Gigan's articulation and engineering was great. It is fun to mess with. JJ seems a few steps back from that
ha ha funny grow man
