Additional Tip: If you add one more dimension called Page Title, and double click it to include in the report, you can see also the pages where links are being clicked on.
Great video thank you! It is really really useful. One more thing. How can I segment it to get the outbound links that I have in 1 single page, instead of all the outbound links of the website? Thanks!
Thank you! How do I add source/medium, I am running paid ads and would like to see: Source/City/Ect. I was well versed with UA, this though is a new learning curve, thank you
Thank you for this - so very helpful!! :) Do you know why the URL I want to track isn't showing up but all my other outbound links are? How do you track 1 specific outbound link on my website?
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I set up my report to track my outbound click data in June. However, the report isn't showing me any result for July. The message I get is ' No data for this combination of segments, values, filters, and date range. Try editing the variables or settings or remove them.' I can see data for last 30 days/7 days/28 days but the data doesn't seem accurate. Any idea about this issue? Thanks very much!
@@hongsiyo2970 Page Path and Screen Class will give you data from an App (where screen class is a thing). You probably want "Page Path + query string" Page path is "/this/is/a/page/path" Page path + query string is "/this/is/a/page/path?key=value&foo=bar"
Hi! I created a free from report on GA4 Exploration. I tested it in June and it does track clicks on outbound links. Recently, we added a new outbound link on the website, and now the free form report does not seem to reflect the clicks on that new outbound link. Any chance there's an update on Outbound Link Clicks tracking that I missed? Or is there something else I'm missing here?
Everything worked fine... Can you tell me where do I go to get that info in my dashboard and including the phone numbers that showed up when I first created the link tracking for my contact: phone link on my site? Thanks.
This is so helpful! It looks like using Explorations, however, you can only see about 60 days of data, even using the "custom" setting. Is there a way to get data on link clicks for a greater time period?
I think it is virtually impossible now; I've been attempting to do it but it seems it will automatically and irrevocably fall into Outbound links tag and immediately categorized as Clicks in analytics.
I've attempted to do this in a lot of ways but somehow my Whatsapp clicks will ALWAYS show up in Click and Outbound Link tags fired, never the specific Whatsapp tags I made. Debug Mode in Analytics only shows clicks on the real time view, the same for phone clicks which fall into the TEL tag. Is this Analytics 4 new normality just fresh out of the oven or am I doing something wrong?
This is exactly what I was looking for. Appreciate the walkthrough.
Thank you so much man.. I’ve been looking for this for a while now. Thank you! thank you!
You provided an excellent step-by-step procedure. Thank you.
thx especially for taking the time on each step so it easier to follow the steps you are demonstrating - great job
EXCELLENT! I was just fumbling around since switching to 4 🤣
Fantastic guide - straight to the point!
Thanks! This is how I track my file downloads since I host the files on DropBox and Google Drive to save bandwidth.
Perfect, thanks! GA4 is actually pretty good
Thanks man. If you download in pdf and open in chrome, that's one way to get to the links.
Excellent video. You have one more subscriber. Thanks!
Thanks so much! This was exactly what I was looking for! I was able to export the data into a CSV file and then I could see the full URL.
Wonderful - thank you so much!!!
Awesome video, this helped me so much
Thank you so much sir.... explained very well and & easily....
This is really helpful, thank you so much for explaining in great detail and using layman terms as you speak.

This was amazing! Thank you!
Thank you, your really helped me a lot! Jan
thank you
Thanks a lot for this. Very useful.
Julius, how do you add secondary dimensions to show where the outbound click occurred & what linked text was clicked on?
yes, and i wonder why he chose link click and not outbound?
same here
this is very helpful thank you

thanks for this. great info.
Is there away to add the source url of the click?
sorted it - its page location
Thanks man!
Maybe a GA4 update but for me the rows section is missing.
Thanks for this. Is there a possibility to know on which URLs the outbound cliks occurred?
Add page path as a secondary dimension
@@AnalyticsMania hi, same question! but is it the 'Page Path and Screen Class' or the 'Page Path + query string'? what's the difference?

Hi Sir, one of my report is not showing click in event report. And in data stream outbound is already added. Pls help me

You need to change the data retention settings in your property to 14 months. But this will not apply to already collected data
Thank you so much! How do you track one specific outbound link on the website please?

Julius hey,
Please tell me, will I be able to track email clicks if I do everything according to this tutorial?
You will need to change the trigger to look for email links, because outbound link is not an email link
@@AnalyticsMania thank you!
How do I see on which page that outbound click event fired?
Add page path as one more dimension to the report
How can I see the report for only clicks on a specific page instead of on the entire website?
Create a filter with page location dimension

GA4 is truncating the URLs of my outbound links, but I need to view the full URL. Is there a way to fix that? (Without using GTM)? Thank you!
Sithout using GTM? Then you would need to implement custom link tracking with GTAG (GA tracking code. This would require javascript knowledge)
This shows all clicks not limited to outbound..

Thanks for you
well done, very helpful, thank you
Julius, amazing (as always). Your videos, including this one, are the best. I just wanted to say thank you! 😊
