    My first impressions on the SOG Voodoo Hawk with a quick comparison to the United Cutlery M48 Hawk.
    Pretty sweet little hawk, mine is the MOH war fighter edition that with 50% proceeds to the special operations warrior foundation.
    Pros: Good looking design much more visually appealing to me than the SOG tactical/fast hawks, has a larger chopping head than other SOG hawks, and a more "tactical" looking spike.
    Cons: Might be a bit short for my taste, no lanyard hole, handle is a bit narrow, and lacks traction - I will most likely paracord wrap it
    Hawk should perform every bit as good as hawks in a similar price range.
    Voodoo Hawk Specs:
    Blade Length: 3.5" x .26"
    Overall Length: 12.56"
    Weight: 28.5 oz.
    Steel : 3Cr13
    HRC: 51-53
    Handle: GRN
    Sheath: Nylon

    I have two Voodoo Hawks. Got one 10 years ago and took it to Montana for a 9 day camping/fishing trip in the Pioneer Mountains.
    It pulled its weight rather well. Liked it so much I bought another and switched handles with one of their Tactical Hawks. More leverage makes it work better.
    Also did the same thing with the Voodoo Mini…. It’s my favorite non-traditional tomahawk.

    np, thanks for watching and yes that boker hawk is kick ass looking but I have a RMJ shrike on the way so stay tuned for that!

    I've been pretty wary of grabbing an M48 'Hawk, but I do sure like the SOG ones. I've had great use out of the FastHawk, and this Voodoo 'Hawk looks like the beast version of that! Cool vid.

    I agree. I also agree, not the best tomahawks, but for general use, not bad at all.

    I actually did about a week ago finally - it is a very nice improvement to the standard sheath I will pop up a quick video showing it off for ya this week.

    yes the m48 sheath does have molle straps, the voodoo hawk sheath just has a single belt loop

    I'll have to look at those RMJ hammer poll hawks, thanks for the heads-up

    I can see your point, have you checked out the new ones inspired by RMJ forge they have a nice model with a hammer end.

  • @mactheknife801
    @mactheknife801  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I should have said check out the CRKT ones inspired by RMJ - left a crutial piece of info off of that response. They are a bit pricier at around $140 but they are full tank construction and IMO a better steel choice than these cheaper models.

    I don't have any experience fighting with a claw hammer, but I do have training with hand axes. That spike would make me really nervous.I'd rather they put a hammer post on it, as most traditional hawks did, but I understand that that isn't as sexy.

  • @mactheknife801
    @mactheknife801  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    yeah? I don't have much issue with the spike, if you are use to a claw hammer this is not much different.

    If I buy one, that spike is coming off. I have no breaching needs, and don't like sharp things pointing back at me.

      Im not sure why I'm taking the time to respond to such a moronic comment. You asked me to imagine if I could risk defending my life with this tomahawk and the answer is yes...people and animals have been killed with FAR less. That spike would surely drive through YOUR skull particularly well.
