I live in Portugal and I have a Ep3 that I bought back in 02/02. Just 130.000 kms and always stock. I loved it. Here the price of an Ep3 it's around 20k euros and a S2000 around 40K. People love the N.A. Honda engines.
I had the fast road set up done on my old one, fixed the dodgy steering feel somewhat. It had 250hp which was plenty when i horsed it over the old military road, one of the most memorable drives of my life.
First time watching this channel. That's an instant subscribe. You're a very natural presenter and don't talk in clichés, and the production values are tremendous without being overdone. Good shit!
just bought a pre face lift silver ep3 with relatively low miles 73k miner bit of surface corrosion but once i square that up should be sitting on a little gold mine
So I still have an ep3 type r and it was my 7th one I’d owned, bought back in 2015. End of last year whilst waiting for my new daily I bought an fn2 to sit along side the ep3, the fn2 was the nicer car, the steering was awesome on the fn2, great on track and money wide the fn2 is the cheaper car now, I also prefer the power delivery in the fn2. But I kept the ep3 for classic potential. Mines Tüv’d as it’s German registered and lives out there. I now have an i20N as a daily as I am firmly in the camp of less is more, 200bhp is the sweet spot with a good chassis.
Hi I'm currently been viewing a ep3 2003 today and very on the verge of treating myself too one....the one I viewed I am going back soon to take for test drive etc reason we didnt test drive was low fuel but we gone top it up next viewing....when I was sat in it noticed are the clutches on them very short ? If any advice how the clutch should feel for when test drive it, is the bite point snappy etc too look out for 👍
@@MrLiloakes they are very light and low down the clutches. They don’t slip when they are knackered, instead you need to rev it out and if it won’t change up clutch is usually knackered. In fairness don’t let that put you off as clutches are cheap , supplied and fitted for a genuine one about 450. Main thing is check oil, if previous owner is a good owner the oil should be bang on, I have mine for sale in Germany €9000, you should try an fn2 as well, the steering is way better and the car overall is better, creatures comforts etc
Ive also got a pre-facelift ep3, only thing to really watch out for is the timing chain if it hasnt been done yet. Mine skipped 2 teeth at around 130k miles though still managed to survive another month until I got that done! Id recommend a facelift front bumper, transforms the look of the car... Other than that as you say, rust. Mine isnt too good for it with both sills & arches welded lol.
This is my old car i sold it in 2017 when i had a car sales garage in birmingham ive still got some photos of it when i advertised it was totally stock apart from the wheels being black.
My Megane 250 cup has a torsion beam setup, and these were always voted the best handling cars in their day. Loved my EP3 but vtec just got tiring if you daily it.
I fitted a dc5 rack to an ep3 i had last year. Easy to fit and made the biggest difference. Shame the rest of the car was shagged as it had great steering but highlighted all the 140k mile issues like worn bushes etc and 20 year old shocks and springs so was a bit of a 2 way street if that makes sense
Wow, thanks so much for commenting. I did wonder if anyone had done this. Respect! Yep, I guess if your going to do it a full refresh is really needed to get the full benefit.
@@ScottishCarClan i think if you went through the whole car as well it would be as good as it can get. Still no DC5 though, they are a cut above EP having driven both
This is the only car I've owned since I bought it brand new in 2004, so 21 years ago. It's now done 54000 miles and been serviced every year and has only failed MOT's because of tyre wear and a worn suspension linkage. Most cars after a few years give you hints that it's time to sell, high mileage, getting unreliable, starting to feel old, boring to drive, that sort of thing. Mine does none of those things. I am going to hate the day when I get rid of my Type R, but I don't feel I'm close to that day yet.
I got my brandnew EP3 in Summer 2002... It´s my daily ever since and hit over 330k kilometers some weeks ago... It´s by far the best car ever build
Wow! That is incredible
What a car. I've wanted one since I was really young now I got my hands on one.
so glad i got mine 2 years ago, best handling track car iv ever owned and still currently ulez exempt
I have had mine going on 9 years. Love every bit of it.

Wow the exhaust sound is amazing

I really appreciate that kind comment. It goes a long way for me to know someone out there is enjoying it. Thank you and welcome to the channel 😁👍🏼

You have to actually drive an ep3. Whereas cars now do most of the driving for you.

Very cool! Can you email them to us or send an Instagram message? (Grant@scottishcarclan.com)
I've a silver jdm ep3 that I fitted the dc5 rack in, more than welcome for a drive when it comes outta winter hiding, I'm in West Yorkshire though
Where abouts in West Yorkshire I've just bought one 👍
How easy was the swap? And do you think it was worth it?
I've got an R53 JCW Cooper S and I think I want to swap it for one of these.

I'm trying to get one of these but the rust issues are really making me anxious
I personally thought they were all rough as toast underneath 😭😭 main reason I went for an ST instead
I’d love one of these in the U.K.
Might get shot for this but i preferred the fn2 to the ep3 😮
I would invest in some good tyres, transforms the car bro
Classic 👌🏻

Looking to do this to mine also, if I'm correct it's just the rack, mounts on each side and then the power steering bits?
@@ChargedCovers yep

Imagine making a durability test of that
100k likes and we’ll do it 👀
Where are these long straight roads bud? Looks familiar!😮 nice video and well reviewed 😊👍
The road that sits between Cumbernauld and Upperton. Thanks 😁👍🏼
@@ScottishCarClan of course! Knew it was familiar and reasonably local. Cheers bud.
You need to drive a mk1 leon cupra R the are fast hot hatchback from the same time and can make big power with little work
I’m thinking about selling my Punto GT for one of these
