Wonderful video. My wife and I are coming to Nara Japan in June 2023 specifically to see all the beautiful deer. Greetings from Michigan, U.S.A.

Nara is a city with a long history, with several shrines and temples registered as World Heritage Sites. The deer in Nara Park are especially popular with tourists. In July of this year, it was confirmed that there were 1,182 of them. By all means, I would like you to enjoy Nara next June.

I suggest changing the size of the deer cake to a quarter, the first swarm of deers I saw were severely obese , it was so sad😥

      実際には鹿が渡りやすいところに、たまたま横断歩道があると言うことだけなんですけど、きっちり守ってるように見えるので可愛く見えますね。

Japan's original country name NIPPON means "country under the sun," but the traditional name of the country when the capital was here in Nara was YAMATO (WA). Yamato means "land of great harmony between people and nature.
For about 1,300 years since the Emperor established the capital of Japan in Nara,
deer have been traditionally cherished as messengers of the sacred gods of this island nation blessed with nature, until the present day.
The deer know that humans think so from generation to generation, so even though the city has changed its appearance, the deer still feel safe and comfortable living here.
The history of Japan is very old, about 2,000 years since the Emperor's reign, but humans began to live in villages and communities in this island nation about 14,000 years ago, during “the JOMON pottery” culture.
(That's 30,000 years ago, if you count the Neolithic period.)
Surrounded by the sea on all sides, this island nation has a warm and humid climate and is blessed with abundant clear water resources, plants, and fisheries resources, and people have lived in peace since ancient times.
People have respected harmony, lived peacefully as a group, exercised wisdom to overcome numerous natural disasters, lived in harmony with nature, and enjoyed the blessings of nature.
The ancient name of the country, "YAMATO, WA," expresses the wishes and realities of such people to live.

I wonder how many are there? In the whole Nara park, I guess it has about 1000 deer. (I could be very wrong)

yes. Since the 1980s, there have been over 1,000 deer.

      There are approximately 1,300 deer.
About 300 deer die each year from eating garbage discarded by humans or from accidents and disease.
In some cases, tourists touch baby deer and the mothers abandon their babies.
Coexistence between humans and deer is difficult.

    Help the deer in Nara
They were captured and detained by Nara City, and given little food, they are rapidly starving to death. Members of the Nara City Humane Society are driving the deer to death. A veterinarian filed a complaint, but Nara City said there was "no problem." I believe that many deer will continue to be sacrificed. Japanese TV gave little coverage, and only the Asahi Shimbun newspaper covered it. I would be happy if more people around the world criticized it.

Deer in Nara are wild deer, not domesticated deer.
They have been living together in the city where people live, as a living organism living on the same land in its natural state.
The history of coexistence between people and wild deer in Nara, which has continued for more than 1,000 years, is a rare phenomenon on earth. Protection is not everything.
In other countries, they might have been exterminated or used for food.

that's right. Deer in Nara are wild animals. Therefore, humans should not kill deer in order to reduce them. We should leave it to the natural system. Also, sometimes deer are killed because they ate crops. However, Nara's farmers are not properly barricaded. Even though they are receiving money from the city for barricades. If you barricade it, deer won't eat your crops, so there's no need to kill them.
