  • With the Classic still running a bit hot at high speeds, doing the radiator was hopefully the last piece of the cooling puzzle.
Follow me as I go through a system flush, radiator removal, reinstallation and road test.

Hi I have had 5 classics 2 with over heating problems I have a 3.9 1991 classic at the moment, I noticed when you were changing the rad the fan turned without much pressure on it if you get the same problem I would replace the viscous fan coupling.

That’s interesting, viscous fan coupling I think had already been changed by this point - a few weeks before the video the belt actually snapped so changed it after that, I always thought they should be fairly free turning when static?

@@classiced1416 There should be resistance when you try and spin it by hand.

have you thought about a lean fuel condition at speed? a great cooling system can mask this. Though the radiator certainly could have been bad. both things could be true

I hadn’t really thought of that, could be. At low speed I think it’s if anything running a bit rich, but harder to tell at high. Certainly the chap who did the rad said it was ‘knackered’ so it was worth having done. Other than the usual plagues of early EFI systems, what might cause high speed lean?

Ed, any more videos for the R129 SL coming soon?

Certainly some more for the R107 will be coming. Range Rover + real job have been getting in the way but not for much longer!
