Bangkok feels like Mumbai or Indonesia plus Cambodian-like temples since they have both religions thus culture. While Manila on the other hand has that western vibe while possessing New York or Hongkong vibe. Both capitals exhibits great sound of culture as well as development. We are ASEAN and we are like brothers.

Both i love...Differs in culture, religion and language but the place are the same..even provinces, both are so similar as well as Thai and Filipino faces...what i love Thailand is they have the massive transportation railways..but still traffic in busiest roads hehehe..Bangkok is same with Manila since there's also a dark side of both cities. Both have richer areas and they have poor areas.. Manila has buildings in CBD's whic is so close..while in Bangkok not so close..scattered buildings that is why Bangkok has better aerial views skyline..lots of restaurants and bars too..

Bangkok advantages: -Better transportation system -Better night markets (cheap and more options) -Unique culture for a western tourist -Hop-on hop-off boat by the river to get to major tourist sites Manila advantages: -Better sunset view -Easier to communicate in English -Not so over touristy (got treated like sardines in a boat terminal in Bangkok and immigration lines were soooooo long) -Relaxed areas in business districts (like BGC, and ASEANA bay) Both: -Taxi scams -Lively and warm -Similar facial look (been mistaken as a native Thai a lot)
Manila is one of the most densely populated cities in the world as compared to Bangkok.. Philippines is the only Christian country not only in ASEAN but in Asia, its full of western vibes.
I would vote for Thailand though, some someone from Scandinavia, Philippines has nothing but malls and church which i found not very interesting, even that cant be compared to malls in Bangkok. The traffic is horrific in Manila with no good option to get from point a to point b. I stayed 2 days in Manila then left to the island and it was more than enough. While in Bangkok one month there and I still find something new and interesting to do that does not involve being in the mall. The worse part is poor children everywhere in Manila, especially at night time... it sadden me to look at when they beg for money!

Filipino food in general is loaded with oil, vinegar, sugars and tons of preservatives. Those that eatable are Spanish or Chinese origins and not very vegetarian friendly
