MOAFRIKA RADIO TELEVISION - MRTV visited Nkhono 'Maphuthi Ntlaloe, 82, old knitter and hand crafter from Mahlabatheng Motimposo, Maseru.
She is a multiple trick pony who hand crafts teacups home decos from pegs and card boxes, jewelry, flower vases, and fruit and vegetables bowls from ice cream lollipop sticks, as well as knitting teddy bears, scarfs and bedside table mats.
The 82-year-old began beaded jewelry at the age of 74, learning from her surroundings while knitting grew up with her.
Letting the MRTV team in her home, Nkhono showed us her work, stating that any of her works takes her a maximum of 2 days, start to finish.
However, because of old age, she struggles to market and promote her work, thus suffers a loss. That being the case, she continues to knit and craft as it is something she loves and is passionate about, as well as not having a problem in sharing this education to the younger generation.
