    I like my peach cobbler with a top and bottom crust with a little dough in the middle AND a big scoop of french vanilla ice cream. DELICIOUS and well worth the extra pounds!! Thanks for explaining the reason for the baking soda in the pan. I was typing the question when you came back and answered it.

    I remember my grandmother making cobblers for the holidays when I was a child. She made them from fresh fruits and make the filling in a bowl
    with sugar, cinnamon (for apple or peach) and lemon juice. Then she rolled out her dough in a rectangular shape, spreading the filling along the middle, topping it with pats of butter. Then she rolled the whole thing like a sausage in a big steak pan seam side down. She cut slits along the top, brushed the dough with butter and into the stove it went. They were always juicy and sweet.There were two rolls in that pan. It could serve an army for Thanksgiving!

      Whenever peaches are in season I make the cobbler with fresh peaches, it tastes so much better. But out of season I use frozen and it tastes just as good. From time to time I'll use canned especially if on a budget. Peach cobbler must have dessert for any occasion.

    • @homemakingwithdenise
      @homemakingwithdenise  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oooooohhhh. I love the idea of rolling it into a sausage and then putting it in the oven the seam side down. I'll have to try that. It sounds delicious. Did you then get a slice or was it scooped out? I'm really curious how that pice worked.

    • @homemakingwithdenise
      @homemakingwithdenise  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@shabrethajennings7291 Hi Shabretha, I like to use fresh when I can but when not in season, I used canned. I'm going to do like Mrs. Russel said this year and freeze some of my own and I will have them ready to go. Like you said...peach cobbler is good anytime.

No crust on my cobbler, I use a sugar and oatmeal crumble. I said to myself: Why is she pouring baking soda on the pan? Never heard of that. Thanks so much for the recipe and your delightfulness.

      @@homemakingwithdenise It's 1 cup for everything - self rising flour, milk, sugar, butter, with cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, and vanilla to taste. I use 1 29 oz can of peaches. If I use another can, I double the dry ingredients. I drain some of the liquid so it's not so soupy. Everything is combined in a bowl. I only cook the fruit if it's fresh and not canned. I've made it with apples, pineapples, Japanese Nashi pears..its so delicious.
