The proprietary charging on all these bone headphones drives me crazy. I have now collected almost 4-5 charging cables for my Shokz. Give us Qi charging or USB C. If they can make waterproof phones with usb-C they can make headphones with it.
I have shokz pro run and recently bought suunto wing. Suunto is far by superior in all aspects in my opinion, i have never used my shokz ever since i bought suunto
Love these for all kinds of complex outdoor activity that needs awareness. And frankly even when just being on some simpler trail hiking, you can be immersed in nature, and have something like podcast on. Earplugs will always feel kinda isolating, even if you have pass trough.
I’ve had the Shokz headphones. Liked them a lot but quality was poor. Went through 4 pair in 2 years!! They just stopped working. They were replaced on warranty, but I’ve seen many complaints about the same issues. Hope these are more durable. If so, I’d buy them.
My first, go-to, review guy on all things outdoor gear electronics...thanks! Have been curious about these and their new Race watch. Might be time to return to the Suunto ecosphere after I left 3 years ago to try Garmin.
Really been wanting to try some open run pro shockz. Glad to see some healthy competition in the marketplace but tougher decision for me now. 😂 Great vid Des!
great and entertaining review! I miss the info about the multipoint connection support though. That one is a must for me as I use PC + android simultaneously.
I was curious about bone conduction headphones, as I tend to sweat a lot in the summer, and in-ears were kind of flushed out of my ear after some time. So I bought a cheap set of bone conduction headphones. Problem completely solved. The audio quality is good enough for me (I don't have the highest standards in that area). From now in, I am using headphones a lot more often while running.
I am using a bone conduction headphones from shokz for around 5 years now and I sweat a lot too. As per my experience the rubber pad of the left side came off after 3 years but all the connections were intact. I took it to a service centre and cleared it in 5 minutes. Still running good.
The video is not really helpful with the answer. What do you mean by "clarity" in terms of music sound quality? Does the phrase "they sound more full" mean that Shokz sound better? Or simply can you just answer in terms of music quality which sounds better Shokz or Suunto?
Wind noise is what I am wishing gets addressed. Maybe get a Kestral and measure wind speed and give feedback on sound clarity with different wind speeds.
I love my shokz, but the button while running is so freaking hard to use to skip/repeat songs. How is the button on these in comparison? Love the head nod function
I have never tried bone-conducting ear phones but I am intrigued by the technology. I enjoy listening to audio books and pod casts and I'm a bit worried that the outside noise will muddle the sound when you really need to hear the words. Does the Suunto Wing work well for non-music listening or would you recommend traditional in-ear ear phones?
These motion controls suck for metalheads, headbangers :) great review Des. It's one size fits all? Being taller than average and with problem finding sunglasses that fit due to appropriately sized head to my body, I would be bit worried to order online without trying them first.
I feel like them including cheap foam plugs are silly. They shouldve added some rubber plugs that preferably hook to the headphones so they don't fall out while running and then disappear
I still use my bluez 2s from time to time but that over the ear design + pressure is really uncomfortable to me. Air conduction has almost replaced them fully.
Offline music storage would really have been a cool and distinguishing feature, ideally with a good app for syncing Spotify or even just podcasts. It’s a shame they didn’t include this as it would provide an (the only?) alternative to Garmin watches for phoneless sporting with music.
nice review! I wish you would measure these wireless headphones based on the EMF numbers. I know Apple headphones emit super high numbers.. just saying. These might be super dangerous on the long run
I’ll let you all know the elephant in the room what no one is talking about these open ear headphones and that includes the Shokz brand: I’ve gone through several Suunto and Shokz for running and cycling and they all fall short of one flaw, the vibration causes the tiny bits inside to get scrambled and would cause these to stop working randomly. Let me save your wallet from multiple purchases and say, just don’t. The functionality is great for open environment hearing but the technology fails due to vibration overuse.
There are other bone conduction headphones other than Shokz. Shokz also does not have the head turn gesture or LED lights, or the battery pack for that matter.
The proprietary charging on all these bone headphones drives me crazy. I have now collected almost 4-5 charging cables for my Shokz.

Just got mine and love'em. The sound quality is great for my runs and I appreciate the open ears.
Really appreciated this review. Especially testing with the different helmets and glasses. Thanks!
Sure thing!
Great review - love that you compared this with different head gear, the run tests were great too!
Happy to share - thanks!

Great review - thanks. Following this I looked at some of your other reviews and they are excellent. Great channel.
Thanks so much!
I have shokz pro run and recently bought suunto wing. Suunto is far by superior in all aspects in my opinion, i have never used my shokz ever since i bought suunto
Thanks, that's useful. How does the battery life compare? Aside from the power bank which is great, do Suunto last as long as the Shokz OpenRun Pro?

The running device control demonstration had me laughing 🤣Poor Jack Johnson 🤣Awesome video Des, great full review! 🔥
Haha thanks!

4 pairs in 2 years? Yikes. Thanks for mentioning them, I am planning of trading in my openruns for these Suunto Wings.

Thanks so much! Always happy to help.
Thanks Des for the review. I had 3 Shokz all kaput on me. Waiting for Suunto Wing in abit.
Good to know there is more bone conduction buds out there. I will consider testing them when my old shockz mini dies.
Really been wanting to try some open run pro shockz. Glad to see some healthy competition in the marketplace but tougher decision for me now. 😂 Great vid Des!

Thank you for this review, very clear and helpful I really appreciate it.
great and entertaining review! I miss the info about the multipoint connection support though. That one is a must for me as I use PC + android simultaneously.
I wear my shokz basically all day, so nice to see some competition. However the extra features are not too exciting, at least for me

Super review! Great job 👌
Thanks!
Thanks again for another great review. In your opinion and personal preference, would you choose this Suunto Wing over Shokz Open Run Pro? Thanks
Watch @3:25
I've tried my wife's Openrun Pro's and I was really impressed by how far they've come for music sound quality. How do these compare?

Clarity refers to the level of detail. Fullness describes the range.
Great video as always!! What about audio books? Good sound? Could you pair them with a Garmin watch?
Audiobooks sound great (vocals and very good with these) and can also pair with a Garmin watch. Thanks!
Can I wear these with my full face motorcycle helmet?
I ordered openrun pros before this video was uploaded and now idknow if i made the right choice
Wind noise is what I am wishing gets addressed. Maybe get a Kestral and measure wind speed and give feedback on sound clarity with different wind speeds.
Awesome Review 💪 prefer them to my Shokz!
👍
Which pair of Shokz do you have? Do you find the Wing better?
How good are the LED lights? Are they useful from a distance or more of an it can't hurt add on?
I'd like to know more about them swimming with a Garmin for example with music streamed from the watch.
Bluetooth signals do not travel well through water, even in such a close distance
any way to rise the MIC volume during a phone call? would You help?
Does Tidal and Apple Music work with these headphones
I love my shokz, but the button while running is so freaking hard to use to skip/repeat songs. How is the button on these in comparison? Love the head nod function
The head movement function is soooo interesting and practical! You can easily switch songs without buttons.
. . . . I use my openrun pro and openrun pro mini with my motorcycle helmet with zero issues . . . .
Please test the Earshots buds from NZ with the magnetic secure fit 🎵

I don't have this book but have been using bone conducting for years now. They are the best fit audiobooks and podcasts.
can you review the Sony float run? I'm curios about how it stacks up
Unfortunately with no internal storage. I dont want to carry phone while running.
....MY openRUN pRoS say 10 hrs but consistently get 12 to 14 hrs per charge ....

🤘 One size, I have a larger than usual head and they fit me well. I usually have issues with sunglasses as well.
What about multi-point pairing? Openrun Pro's has this feature. Does Suunto Wing offer?
looking for this feature too. it says Dual device connection in the suunto website is that the same thing?
@@ehrgeiz88yes it is

So they’re great for the gym
Thank you
Very welcome!

Head Controls? These are prefect for the Indian Subcontinent! The head nodding is etched in the DNA.
isn't the whole point of wearing these to be able to hear your surrounding? If you end up wearing ear plugs, why not just wear your regular earphones?
Some people may not be able to afford/want to purchase/carry another set of earbuds, so the ear plugs provide a solution in those cases
link does not work yet
It may be live tomorrow on the release date
Jack Johnson is good actually
Definitely just a joke ;)
.... I LoVe My OpenRun Pros ....

Suunto released new headphones and new Race Waches that can't download music. Download maps? Yes! Music? No! Suunto Logic? Not installed.
Exactly this. They had better focussed on getting Spotify on their watch. But i guess i can still pair this to my Garmin 😂
Offline music storage would really have been a cool and distinguishing feature, ideally with a good app for syncing Spotify or even just podcasts. It’s a shame they didn’t include this as it would provide an (the only?) alternative to Garmin watches for phoneless sporting with music.
Music service integration is a tough nut to crack due to agreements but offline music storage and playback with MP3s would be a nice addition

These are Suunto's first headphones so doubt you've already gone through several of them? Or you're just referring to Shokz
No USB-C charging? No thanks I dont need another special cable for just one product.
It can be charged either by USB C or charging stand.
so basically they copied shokz... anyway great review Des

i get headache when i wear shockz, i guess the bone conduction tech is not for me..
