@@thememegamer4534 I agree. I haven't got one since DBZ: Rock Paper Scissors on PS3 (that stupid one where everything was a game of Rock Paper Scissors to fight.) Tenkaichi 3 is my favorite so in my opinion i already got the best and don't need the newer ones.

What I like a lot about both this game and Soul Calibur 3, also for the PS2, is the sheer amount of single-player content. So much to do and so many characters and items to unlock.
What I love about SC3 is my COTS data being corrupted by a bug and starting all over again. Learned the hard way to dedicate a memory card specifically to SC3.

So glad to see Micky playing Tenkaichi 3, played all the Budokai's back in the day on PS2 and it was amazing to transition from the 2d style side scroller fighter to and all around 3d fighting game. Still to this day I feel the combat in this game is unmatched for a 3d DBZ fighting game, no other newer title has come close to feeling like the freedom you had in this game
I agree, imagine a remaster with modern day graphics and smoother animations my god it would be a 10/10 for me, that's the only thing I would want touched everything else is off limits all it needs is the graphics and animation overhaul and I'm good to go
@@JakNasty69 While not exactly a remaster, Raging Blast 1 and 2 was more or less their attempt at giving the series the HD treatment. When it was time to switch to the HD consoles back in the PS3/360 era, they had to redo all the assets from scratch. Unfortunately, that meant having a smaller roster again, since BT3's was only so big because it was building off of the work done for BT1 and 2, and the RB titles never got far enough to reach that amount. On top of that, the rushed dev times and lower budgets around that period led to those games also feeling a lot less polished and not as fun.

The one game that is a proper improvement over Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is Tenkaichi Tag Team for the Playstation Portable (PSP) - it has the same controls, most of the characters excluding the giants I believe and it lacked moving mouths so the graphics were slightly worse due to it being on the PSP but it had 2 VS 2 multiplayer.
I think in ways it was better with the 2 vs 2 multiplayer.
@@JakNasty69 It could use 2 VS 2 multiplayer like Tenkaichi Tag Team for the PSP as well. It made the game better, as it's still possible to play 1 vs 1.
@@mrnygren2 Yeah. From what I recall, Tenkaichi Tag Team reused some of the assets of the BT titles, so the gameplay got carried over and retained a level of polish that dwarfed the rushed and broken work done for the two RB titles.

budokai 3 still has my favorite story mode of all DBZ games, being able to fly around with the characters, trying to get the movie characters etc. but Tenkaichi 3 had the biggest roster

I didn't expect you to play this game at all. You're a jack of all trades my friend.
My parents bought me this game when I was 7 years old. Back then I had no clue what Dragon ball was but everyday when I came home I'd play this game everyday. The more I play the more I learn to love the characters even thou I didn't remember their names. But one-day the disc was damaged and I couldn't play it anymore. In 2010 I saw Dragon ball appear on Nick for the first time and I knew that it seemed familiar to me but I couldn't understand why and now I'm a full time dragon ball fan. I wish I could relive those days playing that amazing game. It's game mechanics, fighting, beam clashes and environmental and planetary destruction is exactly how the anime portrays. This is the only dragon ball game that actually FEELS like a Dragon ball game. Maybe someday the series can come back with a remaster for all players to enjoy. Xbox, playststion even pc or Nintendo for future generations can see and experience this masterpiece.

also bt3's wii version included online battles, it would be amazing if they could re release them adding those, because nintendo's servers kinda sucked back then and the fights were really laggy
In case you still don't know how to use instant transmission, there's multiple ways. You can dodge an incoming attack pressing circle at the right time and choosing a direction. You can also spend ki by pressing square a bunch of times followed by circle and choosing a direction during a combo. You can also use certain characters abilities that allow the to teleport like goku final using L2+circle I think, although that teleport you behind the enemy.
The end bit reminds me of that Buu Saga filler episode where Bulma and Chi Chi wanted to do a husband swap where Bulma would get Goku and Chi Chi would get Vegeta and Vegeta just stands there looking really proud of himself.
I remember when I beat my cousin as Hercule. He was SS4 Goku. XD
I cant remember if it was this game i did that on but I do remember playing it on his PS3 he disguised as a PS1 so no one would steal it. That was a wild time. We both laughed so much about it
I like how most people in the dbz community want this game back but ended up selling their ps2 and ps2 games for newer games and consoles. This game is also on the wii however most people prefer the ps2 version. Also good luck looking up how much it goes for on ebay.

Sometimes my loading screens would get stuck, and I would play those mini games for 10 minutes straight, maybe longer.
Did anybody else have a rule when fighting, you needed to start at Base and Build up your Super Saiyan instead of starting as Super Saiyan
If they made a remake of this game, or a Tenikaichi 4 with same gameplay style, and expansive story mode like they did for Tenikaichi 2, I'd buy it istantly.
Here's what they could do:
-Characters and forms from the super, AND db heroes.
-Characters can be divided in incarnations, depending on the era of the show (like, Goku Z, Goku dbs, Goku GT, and Goku Heroes)
-Ability to FREELY transform whenever is possible by any canon (to say, Goku dbs, would be able to go from ssj to ssjb, and backwards with no issue, rather than making them separate slots).
--If there are limitations, they would be applied too (to say, Frieza dbs, would lack his second and third form, unlike his Z incarnation, but that version, wouldn't be able to turn back into a previous stage once transformed, as he never showed that ability).
-PLENTY of game exclusive form to fill the last slots, who cares if clones (like, you know how Raditz, Nappa, Turles, and King Vegeta have exclusive Oozaru forms in these games? Now give one to say, Cabba and Caulifla too - I do not care if it'd break their canon of being "evolved" saiyans... nobody would; and then give one to Gogeta and og Broly too, like Heroes did, then give the ssj and ssj3 to other guys too, like Heroes did; and so forth).
-The story mode would go from the Z, up to at least the t.o.p., and in all cases, it would dedicate a chapter to every fight ever, and for dbs, it'd have two versions of the story, like we had a dbs anime and a dbs manga. Heroes and GT stories would be there too.
I feel like it would never have the same charm, gaming in general has changed a lot in the last decade, for example we'd never get the 500 something character roster bt3 had without having to pay for a shit ton of DLC's. And thats just about the character's im pretty sure they'd even do that with some of the game's original features (like the sim mode and such)

The thing I remember about the first two most is how Videl is absolutely broken.
She can side step and chip everyone to death.

Budokai 3 is still my favorite Dragon Ball game.
My older sister owned this game when we were younger. Sometimes we would set the computers to fight each other.
One time we had the kids (Goten, Trunks, ChiChi, Goku, Gohan) all fight Broly. The kids won.
If you charge up to full with Hurcule, his crazy long attack string will actually flinch enemies like.normal.fighters punches do. So if you just keep charging him to full and not using his special moves you can dominate with him.
Man we legit need a dragonball game like this in this era… I love all 3 of theses games as a kid and remember me and cousins and friends just playing to see who was the best

Honestly the tutorial in this game is so good you only need to learn one thing apart from it if you wanna get to competitive level (dragon dash cancel is not on the tutorial)
the tutorial is good for if you never touched the game before but the amount of info in there is super super limited (if you're using it for competitive knowledge)

I loved this game as a kid. One of my favorite things about it was that, on the Wii version, in order to do the super moves, you had to move the Wii remotes in a certain way (usually mimicking the characters' motion). It might have been a little frustrating when your fighting your friend and you flail you arms at the screen trying to get a combo off, but when you pull off a Kamehameha it was so much fun!
the sonic sway is what made the combat so pristine
I almost failed the 3rd grade because of this game XD. I do love the music in this game though, it definitely pumps you up.
Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is so beloved in latin america that it has it's own latin american dub mod, also Budokai Tenkaichi 4, which it's also a mod based on that original hack that adds stuff up to Super.
Also the one time Bandai Namco Latinamerica acknowledged that we want an official 4th game or a latin american dub for newer dragon ball games by uploading a meme on their instagram.

Man this is just pure nostalgia for me. I remember playing this on the wii when I was younger. This game was just perfect. No auto combos. Huge cast. So many different super moves. I highly doubt they will make a game like this in the future. It’s currently the best 3D dbz fighting game in my opinion

I finally bought an HDMI adapter for my PS2 and all weekend I’ve been swapping back and forth between Tenkaichi 2 & 3, would play 3 for the fast pace gameplay and Dragon Ball story mode content and switch to 2 whenever I want to play the more in depth story mode. One thing I forgot about 2 that annoyed me when I did get to it is that you have to manually play thru the movie content like Turles and Lord Slug before you can start the namek saga. I preferred 3 to where it had it’s own specific area for movie and TV special content that let you play them whenever you wanted to/if you wanted to and didn’t hinder your ability to play the main story arcs. I’m just now playing the start of namek arc this morning on BT2 after finally pushing myself to complete the movie arcs

BT2s gameplay can be just as fast-paced, oftentimes even faster-paced than BT3s, but only if you know how.
I feel like the BT2s entire combat system is completely misunderstood by most

One of the most fun fighting games I have ever seen. I wish I had played this when I was very young.
After playing BT3 years ago it was so epic and insane that I made a promise to myself that I would never buy another DBZ game until it matched or succeeded the quality of BT3. To this day nothing has surpassed it.
Micky if you're going to watch DBZ again, I cannot stress enough that you should watch Kai instead of the original (provided you can get a hold of the uncut blu-ray versions rather than the edited Nicktoons version) Cuts out all of the filler, and if you're watching the dub the dialogue and voice acting is so much better (it's mostly the same cast, too). Some people still stan the original version, but after watching Kai I can't go back. It's the definitive DBZ experience

I watched kai when it came out after I saw the original awhile back and I didn’t like it as much, the voice added was better but the music wasn’t as good as the original Japanese music or the original US music and it’s missing an entire 130 episodes. Its probably a matter of preference though on which one people like more

I remember when I had this game I loved playing as Trunks, I remember teleporting a lot. If I'm not mistaken, you have to activate the attack animation and then hit O right away to teleport at command.
I remember watching another TH-camr saying that the reason we didn't get a 4th title is because Bandai decides to separate from Spike IIRC (for reasons I cannot remember, could be because they got tired of working on the same thing), and they own the gameplay and mechanics implemented in Budokai and Tenkaichi games so since they decided to split up the 4th game never happened (This is why Xenoverse and FighterZ play so different from Tenkaichi and Budokai, as they are not allowed to copy the gameplay from the older games apparently). All thanks to Bandai separating from Spike, the guys who made the controls and moves, etc from both games. I'm not entirely sure how true this is, if anybody knows more details feel free to correct me. I wish people could talk about this more often.

I still play this game now. To this day I feel like if they made the event same game (with the necessary patches), that it would be a great competitive fighting game
2:23 It all ads up. This doesn't just make sense for Chi Chi not liking Super Saiyan, but for other anime as well. Ichigo from Bleach used to get picked on for his hair, because it's a sign of delinquency in Japan. I thought Ichigo getting picked on for being blond was stupid, but I just didn't understand Japanese culture. I bet Masashi Kishimoto of Naruto fame made Naruto's character with yellow hair with the intention that it would show he's a delinquent (at least in early episodes of the original Naruto).

To my knowledge the European and Japanese version of BT2 has the Dragon ball Saga and you can unlock extra characters.I could be wrong.
The Japanese and Europeans versions of BT2 for the Wii exclusively.
And it doesn't add a story saga, only characters, namely

- Pilaf Machine
- Cyborg Tao
Playing this game in an emulator is funny since the "loading mini-games" load so fast, you barely have time to do any. You can usually do like 8-10 pushups on a real console
The Wii controls were in fact atrocious. I rage quit so many times as a kid because the sensor bar wasn't picking up the difference between an upward flick and a downward flick. Don't even get me started with the nunchaku.
Ended up buying it on PS2.
I regret nothing.

I bought this for PS2 a while back for $150. 😬 But, something must be up with my PS2, 'cause (the game looks immaculate) some of the modes take forever to boot into -- Like the story mode. Other modes, like dueling, boot up normally and everything. 99% of my other PS2 games work fine though -- it's just this one and Guitar Hero: Encore Rock the 80s that fuck up. Even Tenkaichi 2 (which is worse shape) runs perfectly. Anyone think they might know what's up?? Someone said that it might be that the laser is dying, but then why do all my other games (and other modes in Tenkaichi 3) work as they should??
Naw that game would take a while to load when I played it as a kid. I'm shocked you paid $150 for it tho.
If the disc looks fine it might have been resurfaced before. Sometimes it makes disc hard to read or even unreadable (like my 1st copy of Yakuza 2 or my DoA Extreme 2 on 360). Or maybe your laser is on its last legs.
I had an issue with my BT2 not letting me finish one of the extra modes that was level based?

@@purple7filth Yeah, I'm not a PC gamer or anything, and I was desperate to add it to my collection lmao. But, idk, man, I'm pretty sure that even if it did take a long time to load -- the load times I've been running into are straight up ridiculous. I'd sit there for SO long, then sometimes I'll just decide to give up for the day. I say something must be up with my system or the game because it's been like that most of the times that I tried it except for one time where it loaded into story mode pretty much instantly. I played it for as long as I could, and I remember not wanting to go to bed because I knew if I were to stop now, that it would just start doing it again. Well, sure enough, that's what happened.
@@ZFighter14 I'd recommend trying to run it on an emulator if you can (pcsx2 can boot from disc iirc) & just make sure everythings vanilla in the settings & check the load time again. Then maybe try ripping it & running the iso & compare the load times. I know when it's ripped it will load faster & it will probably load faster just being run off your emulator but if you still have the same issues, it's just loading faster, then the problem more than likely is with the disc. Compare the difference you see between the parts that lag when loading.
I got a Japanese ps2 to play the berserk game and bought the Japanese version of this because of nostalgia plus it’s way cheaper than the American version. The sound is way better on the American version tho, I miss playing it on my old slim ps2

I have very recently played BT2 and BT3 back to back and I can honestly say that while both are great games, BT2 is better than BT3 because apparently they tried to balance the game and it honestly messed up timing for me, alas I'd play a BT game over Xenoverse any day.
I’ve had 90% of my characters at full power with the items on there no one wanted to challenge me when I had my memory card lol “good ol days”
At this point I think most people nostalgia is over hyping how good this game is or never played the recent games lol
You should grab a PSP emulator and try out the DBZ Shin Budokai series. Best campaigns in all the 'Budokai' games and relatively unknown to the main series.

I grew up with both BT2 and BT3 and i agree where BT2 had a better story mode and BT3 had everything else done better
As much as I like the improvements 3 made, Tenkaichi 2s gameplay will always be more enjoyable to me
Dragonball Evolution the game is a flawless masterpiece.
This game is waaaayyy better than the XenoVerse games and fighter z, they stayed true to the anime with characters moves and fighting styles, being able to stop a knock back at the cost of a blue bar, powering up and being able to teleport constantly in battle was shit loads of fun, when you collide hits of the same power and it makes the shockwave, beam struggles, and the most fun is playing with friends and choosing wether to fight on the ground or in the air like they do in the anime, and the attention to the characters back flips and side flips when they fight on the ground.

Master Roshi is still alive and stronger than Hercule. Videl is strongly implied to be stronger than Hercule, but they've never actually fought and neither character has many feats.
Krillin, Tien, Yajirobe, Chioatzu, Yamaha, Videl, Mercenary Tao, and Master Roshi are all humans likely stronger than Hercule. Tien didn't kill Cyborg Tao, so it's likely he's still alive.
DBZBT 2 had the best music in the series
I just bought this game from OfferUp and it wouldn’t let me select continue whenever I started the game up . So I kept having to start a new game . I was so mad!I told the guy who I bought it from I wanted a refund as I had paid him $100. He said no & I was like “be careful out there man “ . He said “was that a threat ?!!!” . I find out later you can just load your save file from the “save/load “ section of the game 😅 I’m such an asshole.
