After struggling for hours just to get the main body of an injector to see that precup down inside, definitely wasnt happy. I tried cycles of heat and kroil with no luck. Hope your expansion plug does the trick! Not sure if it'll help anyone, but i made a slide hammer out of 3/4" all thread with 16 fine threads and part of a truck drop hitch. Thanks for the video!
Hey just thought I'd let you know we used the rubber freeze plug method on two pre cups that were stuck. One came out just by putting the freeze plug in and tightening with the 3/8 cordless impact driver. The turning action broke the carbon free. The other was a little more work. After getting the freeze plug in and tight we grabbed the nut/bolt section of the freeze plug with vice grips and were able to work it out by turning and pulling. We couldn't use the compression as the injector pump was out of the engine and we would have blown the timing. Thanks for the idea!!!
You can't rebuilt an injector yourself, the popping pressure needs to be set. You best bet is to go to a diesel injection shop they're not that expensive to have rebuilt
I need some help. I removed my D282 injector and the pre cup came out at the same time. There is supposed to be an "arrow" or "up" stamp to show the correct orientation of the cup. I do not see that. Is the eccentric hole at the bottom of the cup close to the glow plug (12 oclock position) or 90 degrees away (6 oclock) position. Thanks for any help . wolf

Worked like a charm!! It takes a 1 1/4" expandable plug. Thanks!!!!!
This is hilarious. I'm not sure I will try it myself but I'm glad you shared this. Very creative solution. Thanks

Do you have the part number to rebuild the injectors? What is involved with the rebuild? Awesome idea to use the plugs to get the pre cup out.

Thank you. I had questions and you provided great answers.

Good
How did you get the injectors out? I know someone working on a D282 and can't get the injectors to pop out.
I loosened the two 3/8" bolt a bit and cranked the engine for just a second or less. That poped the injector and precup loose. wolf
Genius!!! Will try this tomarrow
