Actually, I always had this idea of using a small NPC as a hammer and now I originally intented to use it for FWSC: making a character (Toyo) be hated, then having Bell use him as a hammer. However, by the time I got here, I thought it would be too radical and too violent for people. They kept whining for much less and imagining crazy things already, so I used that idea here for just one scene and the actual object is a real hammer. Anyway, the solution for that puzzle would have been to use the hammer from inside, so to grab it by Bell leaning through the crevice between the pounding pads. But Bell thought not about this and had other solution. 6:06 The things mentioned here are real or imagined events from past BB quests, not necessarily canon ones. If I remember well, "getting pregnant randomly" refers to that a lot of not smart people deducted that Myra in BB got pregnant the moment she announced it, just because there were no signs of it before. Actually, I'm not entirely sure how I made up the name "Budding Quicksand". Sure, "budding" and a desert element create a nice contrast (of course, there are plants in the deserts, but still) and the whole colour scheme is very autumn, but why exactly this, that I don't know anymore.
I thought Budding Quicksand was once a magic power laboratory in ancient times. That magic power was said to be the safest energy for the public, but it was a morbid power in fact… At one moment it was out of control, an unmanageable enormous morbid power doomed that laboratory. So Budding Quicksand looks morbid… Most (all?) items not in chests are gettable with boomerang items in BB5. Bell could throw boomerang items to get the Hammer.
