What a fascinating tour - such a beautiful Norman Abbey. It brought back a similar example of pedagogical ignorance: I once wrote about going to Warslow, and the teacher corrected it to Wilmslow as she had never heard of Warslow but Wilmslow was about ten miles away. The injustice rankled! When I was a teacher I was careful not to be so arrogant, and apologised if I made mistakes. It's important to admit when we don't know something or make mistakes; often our pupils can teach us. Buildwas deserves to be more widely known - thank you for sharing this.

That was brilliant. I assumed at the start that you were a Shropshire Lad - but perhaps not if you school teach had no idea of Buildwas.
