Agreed! their songs just had this fun beat to them straight from the get go, that already prepared my brain for "right this is gonna be awesome" if that makes sense hehe ;) some of the dolls i review on my channel actually remind me a bit of some of the members x #teamsatsforever
I was so ready to be mad if Vanessa wasn’t number 1 🤣 I totally agree with your order... but I think una/Rochelle are interchangeable depending on the performance.
Totally agree, I prefer Una's overall tone. Rochelle has a more generic and manufactured tone to her voice, when she hits the high notes shes good, shes not so great on the lower range. Molly and Frankie were always weak vocalists.
I'm absolutely no expert, but my favourite voice from the group was always Una's. She's by no means the best singer out there, but I've always just liked her.
For me it was Vanessa but she lost her vocal range during the "on your radar" period,so now I see rochelle more of a lead in the later songs. I love frankie she adds a sparkle to the group.
It was hard to choose between Una and Rochelle, I think Una may edge it for me because of her tone, but completely agree with the rest of the list! Vanessa had some troubles, but when she was on it, she was one of the strongest vocalist of UK pop at that time
Interesting. Rochelle edges out Una for me because of her tone and control. I do love Una's rasp and edge, but her voice isn't as stylistically versatile as Rochelle's either.
I loved this group! It’s such a shame none of them have had a big solo career post-break up. They’re all good vocalists and definitely have that it factor
I feel it started out with 1.) Vanessa 2.) Una 3.) Rochelle and as time went on it became 1.) Vanessa 2.) Rochelle 3.) Una and then by the end it was 1.) Rochelle/Vanessa equally with Una next. Rochelle should've ended up going solo but she clearly never intended on doing music any longer. lol She became lead more frequently near the middle and end. Vanessa never left her 1 or 2 spot but sometimes I feel Rochelle shined more depending on the era. Una really edged out Rochelle at the very very beginning and first album.
Great ranking!!! I would put Frankie above Mollie ONLY because Ive heard more impressive notes from her in the bands time... I agree though Frankie is 100% the most pitchy, but she just nails some good ones here and there unlike Mollie that plays it safe. Agreed with Vanessa being #1
I used to be OBSESSED with The Saturdays. I have all of my merch/etc. in my closet boxed up still 😂😂 Personally, I think Vanessa is the best because Vanessas voice is pretty much the sound/brand of the group. Her voice is so present/heavy in most choruses. Like a good 90% of their discography is Vanessa vocal heavy. If you took her voice out of the biggest Sats hits we know,, then they would not sound right. Example: Higher, Ego, My Heart Takes Over, Forever Is Over, Disco Love and so on.
I really wish we could have another Saturdays album, I miss them so much. I agree with your line up of choices when it comes to strongest to weakest generally speaking. Although Frankie has a more beautiful higher register than Mollie as she's usually the one in the highest harmonies. Mollie does function well as Vanessa's support with her high harmonies as well. But you can see Frankie's strongest vocals have been on their song 'Faster' which the other girls have difficulty covering her parts due to how high they are. I think what also hampered Frankie in the past was her battle with depression. Overall my personal list has changed depending on the time period, initially it was Vanessa > Una / Rochelle > Mollie > Frankie and for their later albums you can see that the lead singer was switched from Vanessa to Rochelle. After a certain period Rochelle began carrying the hardest parts in the songs vocally and belting more as Vanessa's voice weened. The final vocal line-up for me is Rochelle > Vanessa/Una > Frankie=Mollie.
Frankie - She never really developed enough confidence to improve her vocals much over the Saturdays’ time unfortunately. I think the selling point of her voice is her vibrato, which is really satisfying when she’s able to use it. I think her and Una’s voices have the rocky edge. But sometimes it’s kind of obvious that she falls back on problematic technique. She could’ve used a lot more help developing her voice. A couple of songs which showcase her vocals best are Golden Rules and No One. Mollie - Her voice reminds me of Kylie Minogue’s, she has that airy nasal sound. She was actually pretty consistent over the course of their career, she wasn’t a belting type or anything but she was able to hold her own. I think her head voice had pretty great potential and they could’ve explored that a lot more. Her problem mostly is that her pitching isn’t perfect and she can lose it when she struggles. Some of her best vocals are in Here Standing and No One. Una - Una has great musicality which shines through in her voice, she seems best at improvising. Her solo music showcases a lot of her country, folky and rocky aspects. Her chest register is arguably the best in the group and she can connect it through her higher register with her distinctive rasp. Her problem is that her distinctive sound is achieved with sometimes strenuous technique, which can make her crack or pitchy. The end of All Fired Up shows her using her higher and lower registers really well. Rochelle - I agree that she improved a lot. She shines a lot in acoustic performances, where she can showcase her dynamics without nerves. Her range was pretty impressive, she had a lot of grasp on different aspects of her voice, such as her chest voice, lower register and head voice, and she could perform pretty great runs too. Her problem was that she often used too much tension, particularly when growing from low to high, which could make her kind of sharp. Her vocals were arguably at their best in the Living For The Weekend era. Vanessa - It’s like she went from being the best singer, to the problematic singer to be in the best singer again. Even though she’s known for her belting, I’d argue that she didn’t always use great technique to achieve the twangy sound, which is part of what blew her out during the On You Radar era. I thought her head voice and falsetto could’ve used more developing so she could fall back on that with more ease. Her vocals were at her best during the Chasing Lights and Wordshaker eras, and then she recovered a lot of her voice in the Greatest Hits Tour and developed a more solid technique. My order would be Chasing Lights/Wordshaker Era: 1 - Vanessa 2 - Una 3 - Rochelle 4 - Mollie/Frankie Headlines Era 1 - Una 2 - Rochelle 3 - Vanessa 4 - Mollie 5 - Frankie On Your Radar era 1 - Rochelle/Una 2 - Vanessa 3 - Mollie 4 - Frankie Living For the Weekend Era 1 - Rochelle 2 - Una 3 - Vanessa 4 - Mollie 5 - Frankie Greatest Hits era 1 - Vanessa 2 - Rochelle/Una 4 - Mollie 5 - Frankie
Don't think anyone could disagree with your opinion: 5-frankie...lacked vocal confidence which affected her ability and development potential....nice dresses...cute hair and the only one to be considered a dancer in the group. 4-molly...limited range but could carry a note to varying pitchy degrees in her 1.5 octave range. Pretty back up singer with much vocal limitations. 3-una ...most out of place better suited as a struggle soloist. Would be better behind the scenes...song writing etc. . she has artistical potential but lacks any real star substance to stand out further than molly or frankie. 2-rochelle...developed considerably the most...strongish voice...bigger range but lacks agility and dimensional tone. 1-vanessa...the most versatile...vocally competent but sometimes unreliable and generally inconsistent. The most vocally dynamic with the best tone on her better days. That said... they're a mediocre group ...with some good songs and a diverse set of singers with very very varied vocal capabilities. At least their vocals and aesthetics was far better than their choreography. To be fair when they perform live they made more noise than what would be considered music.
They all have songs that suit them more, Frankie during missing you would be 1st every day of the week. Love all 5 but it’s clear Una Rochelle and Vanessa were top 3, then Frankie and Mollie depending on the song, but still contributed plenty
My opinion was 5.venessa as I felt she thought she was better then the whole band,4 Frankie as I liked the mellow tone of her voice and I liked her in s club juniors 3,Mollie ,2 Una 1, Rochelle
I do agree... Vanessa is the mel c, Una is the Emma, Rochelle is a more better Mel B. The low tone... Mollie has the Victoria vocal. And Frankie the geri vocal. But that just vocally thinking
Girls aloud and the Saturdays were similar in ways it why they didnt out beat them. Sugababes and Girl's Aloud ruled the charts in this era really with input from Atomic Kitten too. The Saturdays were good talent though with some great songs.. Gentlemen era was like what are you doing.. terrible stuff. Stick to the good pop ffs
I think The Saturdays have better harmonies than Girls Aloud, as a whole group their voices blend really nice. They had bad promotion and management thats maybe why they didnt went far. I love The Saturdays
@@18mestar Individual voices girls aloud beat them in every single way. Harmony yes i agree GA don't fit in too well because of Nicola and cheryl. Girls aloud are overall more likeable and their songs are really amazing unlike Saturdays(meh they've no great songs)
I think Vanessa had confidence issues during her time with the Sats but, in my opinion, she is truly a top notch vocalist. Definitely one of the best (if not the best) vocalists from any UK girl group. She lacked consistency during live performances, but her overall vocal abilities surpass the majority by a long shot.

We need a reunion so badly. Radios haven’t been the same since they left

Vanessa all the way, her voice in the bridge of Ego is incredible!

100% agree!! No other way x
The Saturdays need to reform for a tour, they have a strong singles catalogue and seem to have a great spotify following so would probably do well.
I would love that to happen but I do not think it would xx
But be only una frankie & mollie as roch an ness stated they would never go back xx
Lets be honest.
Una Rochelle and Vanessa do all the work.
They can work as trio
Vanessa's voice stands out. It's so strong 💓
Vanessa was defo the best, no question

Do you think Frankie's voice changed as she got older? She was the lead female singer in S Club Juniors

100% agree with your picks. Anyone see Vanessa on a Opera show years back. She was incredible!

Singing ability wise, it’s completely agreed but Una has the most unique voice out of 5, and her solo album was so beautiful made😍
Vanessa is hands down the best singer in this group, consistently the best! Una is a close second followed by Rochelle the other 2..... meh
Loved this series on the sats! I think Rochelle has the strongest voice
3rd not as strong as Vanessa or Una, she improved alot around the All Fired Era though.

I LOVE THEM ALL BECAUSE THEY WORK SO GREAT AS ONE. BUT VANESSA HAS ALWAYS BEEN MY FAVE NO MATTER WHAT
Una was in a rock band before the sats
This series was so short, why there wasn't any solo videos ? :( Btw. my 3 favs are Mollie, Una and Vanessa.
Rochelle never tried it solo
Love the Saturdays and think you got them in the right order. Would you consider looking at some steps performances please?
Couldn't have been anyone but Vanessa, she was the Nadine of the group.
Agree
DEFINETLY ITS UNA!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️ she is the one that has more vocal range and have the best lower notes and highest

I’m SO disappointed this series has ended & I never got to hear you say how weirdly Mollie pronounces the word law in “Notorious” LOL
I'm a OUTLOR. Drives me nuts!
Yessss lol she always says Lawr
100% agree with the ranking. Exactly how I would rank them. Big love to the group though x
Hey, great vid! I love the sats, they were my favourite girlband of all time :) funnily enough i'd rank them voice wise in the same order x

5 Frankie
