The error wasn’t on her part unfortunately it was her partner who bobbled his footing once she was overhead on the lift…I’m a retired Junior Olympic figure skater since age 5 and competed in singles and pairs until retiring after 32 yrs. Pairs is by far one of the toughest divisions and takes a toll physically and emotionally.. sometimes time consuming and challenging to find that perfect partner with whom everything just clicks, every thing has to align perfectly and it must be someone that you can fully put all your trust in. During training and closed session practice skaters fall a lot…many many times and were dropped from lifts all the time as well but skaters know how to fall, how to land from a fall. I personally have been dropped numerous times from overhead and Russian lifts smacking the floor so hard that you have the breath knocked out of you however anytime there’s floor to head contact that’s extremely dangerous in fact after hitting my head from a lift gone wrong I began having nocturnal grandmal seizures which I never had before until adulthood and after many cat scans and MRI’s I was told I have a bruised right temporal lobe and in the beginning I had anywhere from 5-8 in a month to where I feared sleep and was scared that maybe I won’t wake-up again but after trying many anti seizure meds I finally found that one that works for me now I barely have 5-8 in a year so I’m very thankful.
The worst thing is that fall is that the man holds her hands so she couldn't protect herself with them. She takes everything head first and from so high...
You never know. Fortunately there aren't many severe injuries in this sport. It was just stroking around the ice. I caught my toe pick underneath me on a condensation bump. I had no chance to recover. I broke my humerous in 3 places , my femur and cracked my pelvis. Nevermind what I did to my shoulder. Freak thing. Never more than a bump from a fall before. I don't know anyone that's ever been badly injured skating other than the isolated incidents you see here.
@@achitokii No, I was 77 when it happened. I'm not kidding. When I recovered I exercised to get back on the ice. Skated once then I was hit by a car and it caused me to have a vertigo issue. Skating then was out.
And you fall from so high. When I was a kid, I fell on the ice, not even high like these skaters, just regular, and it hurt soooo bad that I literally grabbed a stranger's leg and cried. haha
i'm equestrian and always thought our hobby (and sport, if you compete) is the most dangerous, because our partner is a 600 kg powerful animal and he can accidentally kill us if we're not careful or don't treat him with kindness and respect or don't listen to him. i was wrong. figure skating is the most dangerous sport. can't imagine what cold hard ice feels like when your partner accidentally drops you from a height like that.😵💫
Same reason they don't rush to the scene of motorcycle crashes where the victim elected not to wear a helmet, I'm guessing. Also, ice. Can be slippery.
First of all, the man should have felt that there was going to be another accident, because it was his fault that he was the first to give in to the wrong step earlier, why did he continue
It happens so fast that u aren’t able to act quick enough. I‘m a skater myself and sometimes I suddenly stub my toe on the ice and fall, it happens very unexpectedly and suddenly. To see that is impossible
In figure skating you have to continue your program even if you mess up. Stopping in the middle of the program in competition isn’t a good idea if it isn’t even that noticeable (It does not mean it was not a mess up though ) but if someone is badly injured then obviously they would stop the program (I’m A figure skater myself).
"...She says she's basically 99 percent healthy now." (Immediately falls on her head!) 😢
Ya, that was ironic wasn’t it??
I was thinking the exact same thing 😬 😔

My thoughts exactly. Do they not practice falling with bailout safety moves? Like, as soon as you're falling, LET T.F. GO AND THROW
@@astrammdthe fall was fast, she wouldn’t have enough time to remove her hands from the man’s hand and the man didn’t also have time to react
Yeah i agree

Isn't that the same area he lost his footing earlier?
Not quite the same...
My god! He dropped her! I feel so bad! She looked like she was knocked out cold
It was the first time I saw that the man didn't pocus, his step was very simple, he fell a little, it means he lacked focus on dancing
Talk about a mortal kombat move 😮 “Finish her”
How is she now
I think she made a full recovery.
Spent the night in hospital with concussion. Her ice partner suffered panic attacks afterwards regarding doing the lifts and required therapy.
@@kp7032 that’s a bloody shame don’t like seeing this happen but it does at least she’s ok
They won gold very next year
Dead
that move should be ILLEGAL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s called a full press and the girl just leaned way to far to the side instead of staying.her partner wasn’t expecting it and couldn’t save her.
Ouch
😢
no 911 team standby
Ahahahahaha 😂😂😂😂
What's funny here? 🙄🙄🤦🏻♀️
At least gymnasts have mats, football players have helmets, pole vaulters have huge pillows, cheerleaders have spotters ...

This was so beautiful until that moment of horror
That was hard to watch. Ouch!! 😣😣

The music they were dancing to you can already tell something bad was about to happen

How she didn't die. Amazing
Is she alive?
What wrestling finisher was that?
Italian last Ride 😂
I'm not sure, but it is certaintly accompanied by the Mortal Combat voiceover "Fatality."
