- It's back again, Bad Cinderella has started Broadway previews and they've released a new version of I Know I Have a Heart and the title song and... well... um... it's something.

I love the west end version and i don't know if i Can love this one
I liked the west end there are things that really need to change but it’s ok

Why did they turn her from goth to mid 2000s music video extra?
Couldn't they just give her a better goth outfit? She's too similar to everyone else, which doesn't match the whole "not like other girls" schtick.
It’s 2000’s hair (minus butterfly clips) and Disney tv show outfit - the layers vest top over t shirt and random colours..

The costume was confusing me and I couldn't put my finger on it, but you just explained my thoughts perfectly. As standalone costumes I definitely prefer the broadway one, but for cinderella specifically the west end one fits better.

If I were going to start Bad Cinderella over from scratch, I’d have cast a guy as BC & let other changes unfold from there. In support of that change. AWL seems to throw a bunch of non-traditionalisms at the wall to see what sticks, -then uses them all anyway.

We actually didn’t even have this show on our radar until said SpongeBob costume ensemble member Raymond Barnard posted he was leaving MJ and joining this production. I Know I Have a Heart was probably one of the best songs from this show and they’ve ruined it. Linedy sounded great, but the backing track is just… nope. It sounds so cheap? It doesn’t suit the song at all
If the new Cinderella plays it on the rockish side very 80s glam rock, what's the fairy godmather left with???

Like you said, it needed a complete makeover, but the things it's changing are mostly the things that don't actually need to be changed much
But beyond that, I want to give a couple of my thoughts
See, it's funny. I always felt kind of the opposite about I know I have a heart. It felt very generic, without much growth from Carrie (I love her, but it was belty almost the entire way through)
When linedy's version started, I felt an intense amount of relief initially, because I liked that a) the lyrics didn't undergo what bad cinderella did, and b) linedy was cutting off her words how she did, as I think that could be a strong acting choice. However, her vocals don't really get across much of that acting beyond the earlier cutoffs, and they go on way too long, and her voice doesn't carry the power Carrie's does. In that sense, this version of I know I have a heart is equally generic, and I'd prefer Carrie's version because it is a powerful song and I'd rather get that power. I think linedy is pretty decent in the role, but needs to grow into it, and she still hasn't quite done that, from what I've seen. I don't mind her starting the song how she did, I think it works if she acts it right, and I think going into the first chorus, it's totally cool for her to still not be at the height of her anger. It's a building moment that way. It's a song that builds a lot, from her lamenting her time at the ball, to thinking about how things weren't like that before, back to lamenting, then deciding that she is fine alone. At least, it could be. I think the score should be rewritten because it's simply written to be a belty song more than it needs to be (the end should be ofc, but the whole thing is and it's a bit much)
So at first, I was excited about linedy's version. But like I said, the end needs to be a belty moment. And for linedy, it just lacked that. It seems like she has it in her, but it was missing something to really make it the moment it should've been. She didn't carry with the track correctly to make it powerful, and I was ultimately disappointed
OMG my favourite song is ruined!! When Carrie sang 'I know I have a heart' it gave me goosebumps ! I also love 'only you lonely you' they better not ruin that!!!! I do love Far too late as well (a fan of ballards!!!)old romantic me!! I'm so intrigued to hear the rest of the new album when released😑😑😑 please don't ruin 'only you lonely you'!!!

Don't often disagree with you Ellie but Carrie's wig was not meant to be perfect. The ensemble would literally sing about how Cinderella didn't wash, comb or dye her hair.
As we say very often over here, theatre is what? SUBJECTIVE! I'm glad you like the wig, I definitely get what you mean even if I dislike it personally.

I think the similar color scheme would have worked if the point of the song was to contradict what she was saying. If the song was to say that Cinderella believes she is different than all of the other people but she’s actually the same then match color schemes work. The reason the similar color scheme is bad is because the audience is supposed to agree that Cinderella is different and that the townsfolk are treating her poorly because she is different. Because we are supposed to agree with Cinderella and not the town the matching color scheme contradicts the message.

I fear that the title "Bad Cinderella" will get a whole new mening, like the is bad, like really bad.
Like the main track, bad Cinderella, on the singel version off the song. I got the feeling that the Cinderella is a snop and selfopsetsed, and like a person I don't care about.
And "I know I have a heart" is so much worst I'm this version, like in the London production, it feels like her hart has been ripped out off her chest. While here is just a generic bad pop song.
