As a guitar player and bass player with a background in music theory, here's what I've noticed from playing both parts of Molchat Doma songs: - Both musicians consistently come up with parts that are melodic, fun to play, and most importantly, not too easy or too challenging - The bass takes fills and fills in the empty space to wonderful effect, holding everything else on its shoulders - This guitar player (who I think writes the songs) is some kind of genius of sliding in and out of different melodies, harmonies and supports like it's nothing. He also uses a lot of arpeggios and double-stops, which births some really unique parts you don't see in rock often These guys are nothing to scoff at as players. They're masters of their instruments and their sparse setup becomes their greatest strength through creativity
Your breakdown reads really accurate! The only thing I don't hear is guitarist using a lot of double-stops, where do you hear this? I hear one at the beginning of "Фильмы" on the Etazhi album, but I mostly just hear him doing the single note picked arpeggios (that you allude to) everywhere else.

I had the pleasure of seeing them last month at the gothic theater in Denver and when Egor opened his mouth and sang his first lyric I felt like I got punched in the chest, it was so beautiful I shed a tear, it was more beautiful than I ever imagined it.

I'm from BRAZIL and I'm a big fan of the band MOLCHAT DOMA, and I think the show was very good, the only problem is that the guitar is too loud and you can't hear the bass much in some songs. I just saw them live recently in Salt Lake and they are even better in person. The feeling of being in a sea of people all feeling the same feeling that this band expresses is incredible. The drums hit hard too. Just imagine being in that room and you’ll be as close as you can to seeing them live. Solid band
