Probably because he's too good looking sexy and popular with the ladies, It's been happening for ages. Clark Gable, Tyrone Power, Cary Grant, Tony Curtis,, Kurt Douglas , Montgomery Clift, James Dean, Warren Beatty, Clint Eastwood, Tom Cruise, (before Scientology), Mel Gibson {before he outed himself as an asshole) Johnny Depp, Kevin Costner. It took Leonardo DiCaprio decades to win. (Granted , Beatty, Eastwood, Costner, and Gibson have won for directing but not acting) And that is just off the top of my head. Women don't have the same problem at all and it goes to show how insecure men are.
Technically he has won an Oscar, But for Producing 12 Years a Save. :)

Check the comments and everyone thinks Brad broke multiple times...but he's actually acting and makes it soo much better and endearing 4:33 . His laugh and blushes just make the whole thing better and Stephen breaks because he wasn't expect Brad's ad-lib acting. Obviously scripted and Brad had the time to pre-read and ad-lib, Stephen looked like he was reading it first time.
This was, as Craig Traeger would say, LITERALLY the best thing ever. :) Just filled with many funny moments. Incidentally, hearing Pitt's 'Tyler Durden laughter' never gets old.
