hey so if i buy just the lightbulb can i connect it to my phone or do i need to buy a gateway or plug for it to work?
You either need a zigbee gateway or the Lidl gateway, with Lidl you can then download an app called Lidl home
Hey, great video. If you have a google home do you still need the reciever from lidl?
Hi woutjedvdv! Yes you do unless you are using another zigbee gateway like I do with home assistant and conbee II or the philips hue bridge
@@SmartHomeMakers okay thanks for the reaction 👍
Question, would like to know if you can just pair this to your hue hub due to zigbee integration? Or is this a no no, also it says Google but I gather that doesn't allow for Alexa?
Google works, there are people that got it to work with hue! With Alexa hub, I don't think it will work
lights work with hue hub natively. single power devices work with smartthings natively. Multi-way adaptor needs a custome device handler which can be added via the IDE otherwise it only sees it as one socket rather than 3.
Is the gateway able to be powered via POE?
No ,but would have been cool!
Does the smart plugs work with Alexa ?
Some have mentioned that it can work with Alexa with zigbee hub integrated, check the comment section for more info!
Should be able to connect to any Zigbee gateway... but sadly not the case. At least, not if your gateway is an Amazon Echo. The plug was detected and added - but only got a "not responding" error when I tried to do anything with it. Quick Google indicated I was not alone, so it all went back the following day.
Hi Ralph! Sorry to hear about that, I have had some users commenting that it does work with Alexa hub, have not tested it myself. Whereas with google it integrates fine
You need to have an Echo Plus 2nd Gen, Echo Show 10" 2nd Gen, Echo Studio or Echo 4th Gen. These are the only Echo devices that have ZigBee Hub built in and the Lidle devices will connect to it in order to allow you to use them with Alexa
@@immis8894 I have an Echo 4th Gen and my other Zigbee devices work fine through it. The Lidl smart plug was detected and showed as a switch, but any attempt to do anything with it said the device was not responding. I did a quick Google and found that the Silvercrest Smart Home devices from Lidl were known not to work with Amazon Alexa. There might be ways of getting it working, but I couldn't be bothered, so it went back, along with the other devices I bought, but didn't unbox. I certainly wasn't going to go through the hassle of fitting a light fixture to the ceiling to find it also didn't respond.

@@SmartHomeMakers might have a go at soldering... I don't know how people manage with the actual Phillips Hue strips, £15 was nerve wrecking enough to cut and fail!
I have a question for the leds does it also work with the gateway?
Yep it does!
Ok thank you so much !
Can anyone help? I bought a floor lamp without reading that you need a gateway and the lidl home app. Then I just bought a random zigbee 3.0 wireless gateway. But when I was about to connect it to the Lidl home app, I noticed it says something like "connect it via a lan cable". Is a gateway with LAN required?
Hi Hevel, if you are passionate about smart home I would start home assistant! It will be a lifetime hobby for sure:)
Bought some bulps yesterday, and THEY ARE AWESOME :D
Indeed! The colour version has a really good price, what automation platform are you using ?
@@SmartHomeMakers If I understood your question correctly, I am using the Lidl's own bridge, app, and bulps! I have only tried them a little bit so far, but going to install all of them today :)
@@SmartHomeMakers I've got a question for you too. How are the bulps paired together, so I could just control one, and all bulps change color etc.?

Hi there! Thanks for the video! I’ve just bought the spotlights with a remote controller but didn’t buy the hub. So I installed the lights but they are constantly flashing in cold blue white. Does it mean that I cannot use those lights without the hub?
Thanks for your answer 🙏
Hi Ekaterina! Unfortunately yes, however if you do have a hue bridge or an Alexa with zigbee then you can try and pair them to that devices. I don’t use the gateway as I use home assistant with a usb zigbee stick called conbee II
@@SmartHomeMakers thank you so much! I’ll buy the hub then as I don’t have any home assistance yet. Your video and reply was very helpful!
@@ekaterinadejong154 Have a great 2021!
I guess the color stuff won't work with the Echo. I have the new Echo Plus with integrated zigbee and I wasn't able to switch to colors, only could change the white temperatures...
@@SmartHomeMakers I have found that the lidl gateway is giving sharper, brighter and more accurate color lights than Hue.

I didn't know until just a few days before they were released
Hey mate. I've got a question. I want to have wireless switch. Like normal wall switch working with zigbee. Can I connect that switch to smart plug? So I can turn on some light that are not smart just being plugged in to the smart plug. Thanks a lot!

@@SmartHomeMakers I've got few plugs with smart life atm. Just planning to buy xiaomi aqara, or sonoff. Don't know exactly what is the best one. Any advices?
I made a few videos on aqara sensors and sonoff light switches, both have been working good so far

I use home assistant with a zigbee usb stick called conbee II in that way I can integrate many products like aqara and sonoff
Does the hub support the 5gh or must it be on 2.4 ghz
The hub connects to the internet with an Ethernet cable and the gives connect to the gateway with zigbee 3.0
Does the fact that the gateway connects via ethernet mean the WiFi type 5ghz or 2.4 doesn't matter?

Hi Betty, if you turn on the power or just plug them in they will turn on (with a default colour) You can use the app (lidl home) with their gateway to do automations and change colours etc.
I only have Apple devices at home, which app do I have to download to connect led?
