I love the Ruby Satchel once it was released but it was too expensive here in Hong Kong. So I thought about getting Rowan instead which would be half the price of Ruby.
Luckily I saw your review and decided that it is Ruby for me and I waited rather than getting Rowan as a substitute.
The Ruby in Hong Kong is now on sale at half price and it is also the cream coloured pebble leather one I wanted! I am so glad I waited for so long!

@@momambition I forgot to say why I decided the ruby over rowan. It is because there are 2 zippers so I have flexibility(I prefer to have the zipper ends on different sides depending on whether the bag is being carried on my right or left side), and it seems to be stiffer and slightly bigger than the Rowan.

The Ruby Satchel 25 all the way! ❤ at the end of the day, I am leather lover so when I saw the ruby, I always wanted one. Finally got myself one during the Black Friday sale & it is one of THE best purchases I’ve made of 2023. This & my Dooney & Bourke micro Florentine bag. However I do love the Rowan because they always take that bag & bring it back with all kinds of designs for each collection or season. Like the quilted leather or it’s in a bright color. And they always use the Rowan for pride month each year. So both bags are great. But for me, I’m a simple black handbag carrier who is also a leather lover so the ruby is definitely my choice.

I agree both are great. There are plenty of Rowans 2nd hand, but I hate the price gouging! TFW ❤️
There are zipper lubricants, one that dries clear would be recommended, but the best would have to be beeswax, in my humble opinion. I purchased a new Dooney in 3.0 all weather leather and the zipper was sooo stiff and dry feeling. The lubricant was OKish, but once I applied the beeswax, that zipper turned in to butter!

I wish they made the Rowan in different size...like the speedy. Its to small for me but I would go for one if was available in a size like the speedy 35

How is the zipper on the Ruby?
It's stiff 😫. I don't use it enough to loosen it with use.
