Neat job. You did good. I hate it when the opal surprises you with a crack out of nowhere. I've lost more hydro-phanes as they re-wet than ever finding a hidden crack. I imagine that's why some folks cut them dry. Remove the amount of opal that can stress the middle before it gets saturated.
