So you need to cut a hole in a ceramic, porcelain or even marble tile, In this video I will show you how to drill a hole any size you need without having to buy a countless number of Diamond core bits, or drill bits. Using a combination of a core bit, a milling bit and an angle grinder with a dry cutting diamond blade, you can cut any size hole in a tile exactly the size you need.

Great video, straightforward and to the point, no film flam just good advice 🤝
perfect demo but I imagine the larger the bit, the harder it is to consistently demonstrate, do you have a video for 3 inch tile circular wet saw?
Thank you Sir, for your information, you saved me!
Glad to help
Thanks sal I’m in process of shower tile install and need to make some odd shape holes in tile thanks to you I’m going out to get that shaping bit , thanks great info

I had a guy that could cut a square hole with a grinder and knip it round perfectly. I was a carpenter and learned how to lay tile from him. He was a master at terrazzo too. God rest his soul. 😭
A true Master!
This guy is verry processional thanks sal
😊👍
Really good video Sal - you make it look easy, I just bought some diamond drill bits and will be trying to cut a couple of holes in a ceramic tile to go round a mixer tap fitting shortly. Thanks for the very helpful video.

Investing at least $10k for tile installer as my next career to support my family during this never ending pandemic...
Great video....what about porcelain tiles. Do you just need better quality bits or other kind special ones or the method doesn't work.
Thank you for sharing I'm glad to know that the cheap ones work well.
I'm so glad I found this video. I am putting ceramic tile in my shower. I need to cut some holes. I like the angle grinder with the finger mill hole enlarger bit.
Thank you Sal
Very welcome
Best point is a guide and a dam for wet guarded cut

Great video

Great video sir.
Thanks so much..
Thanks
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. God bless.
Glad it was helpful!
Now the Milwaukee m12 fuel 3 inch cut off would be perfect for those little holes
Look very soft and easy but it may be not in the case for porcelain tile which is more hard and thick
That was a porcelain tile.
thanks Sal.. good stuff!
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you.
You're welcome!
Very helpful. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome Sal
I need to cut an opening for access to replace a shower valve. Can you use an oscillating tool with diamond blade? Or should I not waste my time with that and just use an angle grinder? Or is there a better tool?
Great video!
But can you give advice on putting a 1 1/4" hole in ceramic tile that is already on the wall?...trying to get the cut started with a hole saw bit has prove to be very difficult--the damn thing runs all over the place & scratches up the tile--can you offer some methods and advice? Thanx Sal

Thanks, glad it helped
Thank you teacher. God bless you
Thank you too
Great video! Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge!
Glad you enjoyed it!
When shaping with the grinder bit will it chip the tile ?
Depends on the tile.
So, you don't need the expensive tile-stone hole saw bits?
The ones intended for wood and metal (cheap) will work fine?
No, you need diamond coated hole saws, wood and metal tools will not work at all.
I’m a plumber just putting in some shower trim for a shower, I need a hole a tiny bit bigger and I’m obviously not equipped with tile cutting tools or too much experience on it. Is there any way I can get a 1” hole just a tiny bit bigger?
Than you.
Sal! Cool 😎 trick...
I love when I watch a video of yours to see if there's a better way, and I watch you do it exactly the same way I do, same drill, same bits, same sponge 😂 😂 😂
Sometimes I like the way I do things, but I just do it your way, anyways. Cause there's nothing you don't do to exact spec. Makes life easier.
Thanks Mr. Sal
Thanks for your knowledge..
Welcome!
Very well
fantastic video one thing though i wanted to know is how to do this for something like a kitchen sink. I have a marble countertop and its a big slab. I was told that i should drill a hole and use a jigsaw with a stone blade but i'll be honest im nervous as from what my manufactuers told me they shattered my original one while leveling it so if i use a jigsaw is there a chance my countertop will shatter? is there a better way?
Did you manage to do it?
@@DataScientist268 nope i have more to do
Heck of a lot more control for the ones that are for the grinder. Unless i am forced, i will never use a drill to do these holes
awesome video!
Glad you enjoyed it
@@SalDiBlasi a lot of slow options and crap techniques when looking up drilling into porcelain on internet, even when I asked drill experts in the shop they were giving me really bad methods. very clear and detailed video sir!
👍
Sal...I love your videos. Who the f**k are these 21 people who would say anything negative????? This wisdom is from the ages. Thank you sir for all you do to educate.
Probably people that just love to troll and be negative about everything.
hello from italy, good job in this video sal :)
👍😊
I wish i would have found you before I tiled my floor. Glad I didn't before doing the shower. Thanks so much for all you do bud
Where can i buy that grinder bit at 15:50 for cutting round shape on at the edge?
amzn.to/3KGQoXj
I hope everyone takes Sal's advice to never remove the grinding wheel guard and to take all safety precautions, like wearing a dust mask, ear muffs and safety googles, just as I'm sure Sal was, even though we couldn't see his face during the grinding etc.
P4 blade then shape. It's easier, no?
no
Hey, nice video and good tips! That curved cut with the snap cutter was impressive! What is the shaping tool called that you use in the grinder please?
Link in the description, but here they are again
Diamond Finger/Milling bit amzn.to/2xj6Vv8 www.tiletools.com/product/mon...
where in the video is the curved cut with the snap cutter?
Good tips for me a diyers. Tks u sir. make my life easy, haha.
wow thanks!
No problem!
Sal, if you don’t mind sharing. In your opinion, what company makes the best diamond hole saws? Rubi?
And, I do tile work about 3x a month. I’ve been primarily using the Milwaukee diamond hole saws at Home Depot in the past and they seem to only last through one job and wear out very quickly and the hole takes forever to drill through, even with the use of constant water and breaks. I’m looking for something fairly inexpensive but will last for at least several jobs. The Rubi kits look great but are out of my budget. Do you recommend any particular brand? Again, if you don’t mind sharing it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Sal!
-Evan, from Boston
The rubi work really well, fast and they last long enough, however they are very expensive, I have also had some good luck with Diamond Sure, amzn.to/34OMt4P but they are not cheap either. these are cheap, and do an ok job, amzn.to/34O5qVy
Lots of great tips - thanks for all you do for the community! Any special tips for porcelain? Recently had to drill some very hard porcelain and it destroyed a fairly good quality hole saw bit after 6 holes.
Do the hole saws work with ceramic tile already installed?
yes
Surely this is dangerous though, using electric drill on a wet surface?
Lot harder to control hole saw on heavly glazed tile i use the angel approch , But i remove bit of glaze first with mini grinder ,to give hole saw little bit onto tile
guess when you use dry drilling core bits ..it's better to use a variable speed angle grinder...
Iffffff ... you have one !! And if you don't ??? That's why he did this video
@@maribettribot8727 i do have one. ..
Anyway no big deal
will that shaping tool work on granite? I have a new sink faucet and the new sleeve for the sprayer needs 1 and an eighth hole and the existing hole is onely 1 inch.
