    I've had the S20 for almost 3 years now and have been super happy with it, but had to upgrade in the process of porting my number to a different company due to a network compatibility issue. I went with the S23 and I was a bit nervous about it because it was done over the phone and I have never seen the S23 in person. Feeling a lot better about it after seeing this video!

      have you had it since launch? can only imagine how bad the battery is. i had the S20+ for 2yrs and the battery would only last like 4hr SOT, 8-10hrs in total. i have an S23U now

    I know it's kind of late to own a s20+ nowadays but i have owned my current phone since September 2018 and it's a Huawei mate 10 pro. First phone in the world that includes a new AI processor. The Mate 10 pro is a outstanding phone that has lasted 5 years and been through a lot haha. No cracks on screen but definitely scratches from the use of the phone. But it stopped receiving security updates about 1.5 to 2 years back and it is still secured with its pre installed optimisation app from Huawei. The camera back then was apparently the most powerful at the time but nowadays it feels like your using an iPhone 6 in 2019 like seriously outdated. It has a great screen but it is now starting to have a glitchy screen, apps are freezing, battery has degraded by a huge margin it dies quickly, phone overheats easily. So i can imagine the difference between the s20 and my phone, would be a good upgrade and to own for about 2 years. I have tested oit new phones like the iPhone 14 etc they feel great and much more premium in todays world but i want something with a good enough camera and somehing speedy and good battery, i can cope with a phone eithout updates. I just need a new phone quick for a good price and it would have to be the s20 but could potentially get s21 to he on the little safer side.

    Thanks for this, super helpful!! Though idk why my s23+ looks a little off still, color's better but my S20 seems to have better detail for some reason at least in indoor tests and comparisons (or idk, maybe it's bec I'm looking at it with a better 1440p screen?)

    I came from s10 to s22 ultra 256 gb with Exynos 2200. Frankly? Tons of zoom is useless if no details in overall pictures. If it wasn't for the Burn in, i would have kept the s10 an extra year.
    Top phones are huge, bulky and not performing such as the are advertised all around by reviewers

    been waiting for a video like this
    been very unpleased with my s20+ camera, not because of the quality but because of the color science
    Any chance you could see if theres a good GCAM mod for the S23 and do a comparison between the stock camera vs gcam on the s23?

    • @JSyntax
      @JSyntax  ปีที่แล้ว

      agreed the color science leads to such weird purple colors! I sold my s20 so I can't compare anymore

    • @user-rj3qc2kx1i
      @user-rj3qc2kx1i ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JSyntax didnt mean a comparison with s20, just regular s23 vs gcam s23

    • @TaylorPassofaro
      @TaylorPassofaro ปีที่แล้ว

      @@user-rj3qc2kx1i I found a good gcam mod and found that the improvements weren't worth it over stock. They were more stylistic differences. The main reason why I wanted gcam was for the incredible astrophotography mode I was used to from my pixel, but since Expert Raw included an even better astrophotography mode (I tested between the two while backpacking in AZ) so I deleted gcam because it didn't offer any advantages.
      A BIG caveat to this is that if I really want great image quality, I use MotionCam to take photos since the raw files out of that app are truly spectacular and are pulling from a different data stream than the "raw" mode in the stock app / expert raw app. So I'd really recommend using that, even the jpegs out of MotionCam are excellent, although they do require some editing/color/sharpening in order to look good.

    I know its been a year since this video happend, and on my searching for my next phone i saw that too.
    Now i have this phones and i can easily say that the s20+ is away better photography phone, the s23 has so much processing which crates so much noise at indoor photos. At outdoor make everything not natural.
    So i saw many videos and make many tests to solve the problems. And i set the image processing to medium and with camera assistance set the sharpness to medium. The problem is still there but less. There are many other options out there

    Wish S20 food pictures comes out so much better than S23. S23 focus on tiny part of the food when is close. Also when I take pictures of driver license is not as clear as S20. With S23 I figure you have to have more distance than shrink with picture to get the detail of iD.

    The s20 and s21 has a 64 mp telephoto

    • @TaylorPassofaro
      @TaylorPassofaro ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Note: The 64mp sensor in the S20 and S21 wasn't a true telephoto. To get a "telephoto" effect, the image was just cropping into the 64mp sensor. That sensor was there to enable the 8K recording feature, which is why the 8K video has a crop to it since to get 1:1 pixel readout it needs to crop to 33mp from the 64mp.
      The S22 and S23 actually have an optically telephoto lens that performs better, and the 8K recording is from the main lens, not the telephoto.

    Why S20 looks so much more natural? :(

    • @JSyntax
      @JSyntax  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I found s23 more natural

    • @orange25i
      @orange25i ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I also found the s20 much more natural. JSyntax was talking about the color science being much better, because the S20 was supposedly oversaturated with a fake look (12:30), but all t 13:27 hroughout that scene, the S23 was not only darker, but also more saturated - which can easily be objectively determined by using a color picker on that youtube video. So yeah - it is quite weird, that JSyntax is "seeing" quire the opposite. Either youtube has managed to mangle the original video up to a point where they made the right half of the frame much more saturated than the left part, or someone has a really weird perception...?
