I use Searles potting mix. It has wetting agent, 8 monthes feriliser, imported peat treated to hold water etc. It is not cheap, say $23 for 50 litres, but seedlings look very good.

So depending on the variety of plant you grow no matter which soil is used, that also has a big effect on the brix results..?

Hi just a quick question why would my Cali and Broc not be forming heads? The head leaves have curled over a couple of weeks

And the sheep test winner is Vasili. Sheep will naturally seek out the most nutricious food available.

Wow, I m a bit surprised in some of them. Each vegetable variates also.

Unbelievable I think the Black Marvel one has some form of super phosphate in it as fertiliser, shallow rooted annual veggies grow better in compost whilst perennials would grow better in potting mix

Very confusing, I see good growth but the reading is low ????

@rosemarybrown1686 , unfortunately plant growth & brix levels aren't the same thing , you can use a synthetic nitrogen which will give you explosive growth but you will generally have a low brix reading , it's the associations with microbes in the soil that feed & protect plants that'll drive up brix levels , feed the soil not the plant as they say

A lot of work done for a very impressive results! 👍🤗
Great that you declared that although it's a rigorous test, it's not in a controlled environment. As not many of us have! 😮
