    Year 2023.
If there are people missing jacks-ports from their phones and need to drive their audiophile-headphones with year2023-battery powered year2022microcontroller(blues port) using bookshelf speaker levels...

The main advantage the Insignia has over something like the 3116 is a very nice built in power supply, with a beefy toroidal transformer and nice filter caps. whereas the 3116 is usually being run off a laptop power adapter with an iron core transformer and very poor component’s quality.
As for the 3118 and 2020, I feel they are simply designed for a different market. And are not really intended to be as high end. Even with a better quality power source.

A lot of companies use linear pots for volume vs logarithmic pots... this will change how much rotation is needed before reaching a specific level. In other words, sometimes just bc you have to turn one almost completely CW to be loud, and another only needed half of that rotation to get there... doesn’t necessarily tell anything. Just wanted to throw that out there. Appreciate the video!

Got the Kinter TA2020 hooked it up to some Klipsch bookshelfs took it out front of the house, even the neighbors said it sounded good at their house. I think its a good little amp all the way up about 3/4 volume and then I get a little distortion, but other than that it sounds great. Can't beat the price

Guido Brunelli jr. , I just got the limited edition Kinter Tripath amp 20/20.
      it's on my screen porch.
I have a pair of Polk RTi
speakers. 6 1/2 woofer and 1 inch done tweeter.
I'm very impressed with the sound. it can go to about 80 percent volume before it runs out of steam. but at that volume, I don't want it any louder.
it sounds very good at lower volumes and retains the base even at lower levels and the crisp tweeter sounds too.
      overall, caint go wrong.
I get off work, plug my phone into the 3.5 mm output and bingo.
      I'm rocking.

Nice review - it was interesting to see the lack of difference in the minis and large difference in the full size unit. I recently bought a Kinter K2020a and of course almost immediately took it apart to see the guts, and was shocked to see some pretty bad-looking build quality issues. The pins of the tri-path chip are not all soldered to the board, a capacitor was bent over 90 degrees to touch the pcb, and from the back there were multiple pins that looked burned. Plus thermal paste from the chip heatsink was in places it probably should not be. Can you take a look at my photos and let me know what you think? I posted a review on Amazon a couple of days ago - P. Miller www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077Z7DBRT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1#customerReviews
I have powered up the amp and run it for 30-45 minutes with no smoke or heating up, so it may be perfectly fine, just looking for another opinion. Cheers.

Hi! I looked at the photos and while it's not high end manufacturing, it doesn't look too bad or unsafe. You can clean up a lot of the junk on the board with alcohol wipes. The cap being bent over is only a problem if the leads are touching something they shouldn't be... which usually isn't the case. And the unsoldered pins on the Tripath chip are just unused features of the chip that are not incorporated in this simple design. I would just use some alcohol wipes and do a little cleaning, call it good and enjoy some music. Thanks for the post!

The Kinter 2020A looks exactly like the Lepai 2020a+, and has also come out with an updated version useing the tap chip, and costs a bit more.

Interesting. Looks like the Lepai 2020a+ uses beefier caps, more expensive heatsink design, albeit messier assembly in some spots. I need to find some close-ups.

You can use a safe start board with a relay to stop the pop. I believe you can also use a filter capacitor on you VIN+ and - not to sure. If it's 24v input use a 50v cap.

Make sure it’s a high enough value in uF if you do that because it’s gonna roll the bass off if you use too low of a value.

Great shame the Tripath chips are no more. My little TA 2020 sounds the best of all my chip amps....

The stock audio system in most GM cars has an amplifier in a box about the same size as these. I would love to see somebody open one up and see what amp chip GM is using.

None of the class-D amps runs on mains directly, I would usually avoid the bundled PSU unless it carries a UL/ETL/etc 3rd party certification. I've taken quite a few apart, usually refurbished units in a new case... cut off leads and shoddy repair/soldering with missing passives...

Daijoubu - Thanks for the input. I've always wondered about non-certified devices getting plugged into the wall. There's so many direct from China product without any oversight coming over.

Looks like they've raised the price. Maybe their using the last of the Tripath chips?
