I really enjoyed this, thank you. Surprised by all the negative comments. I saw many incredible pieces. 🤷🏼♀️ BTW, if you haven’t checked out The Cheech in Riverside, it’s a must-see! (Cheech Marin’s amazing museum)
I came across 3 solid cobalt blue "paintings" from different galleries there, yes solid cobalt blue with nothing else. One was selling for 10k I wish I could upload it here LOL
the great thing about art is that: the definition of what art is doesnt rely upon your preferences or ideas. you dont get to choose what art is for anyone but yourself. and likewise, if you make 'art' no one can tell you it isnt. that said. you dont have to consider it art, because like the artist, others cant define it for you. i mean.. they can try, and you can let them, but in the end its the same thing. you decide, for you. thats the beauty of it.

As an artists, this is sad to see all these peoples hard work crammed into a Walmart style install, so much of the work is terribly consumerism based, college graduates with no original ideas but to create what’s already been done. Poor artists can’t help but brown nose any opportunity to feed themselves. I’d call this low brow sardine late stage capitalist art. Probably really diverse 😂
@@hollywoodambience Hi Hollywoodambience Thanks for getting back to me. I guess you can group the works into two groups. Group one makes genuine peices. Nice, if you like it. But usually not very interesting to anybody else. Group two is the speculative group. As an artist I am disturbed by the fact that so many stupid works are deemed worthy of display while really talented artists get overlooked.
A lot of I think is that people and gallery get booths and display what they have
Can you give an example of the bad artwork that displayed there..???
As a gallery owner myself, i decide on all displays.
I just dont allow rotting meat and dumping stuff on the floor and call it art.
Bro you really need to think about what you say. Your colors are showing.
Do the galleries and artists have to buy wall space? Might explain why there is so much dross.
im not sure how that works. I think they do pay for the wall space
