And another thing. For all of the people saying ND only won, because Lawrence was out and their Defense had injuries: Back in 2015 when Clemson beat ND in that monsoon, Notre Dame was playing with a backup QB and an absolutely decimated defense. You can't lowball ND and at the same time, not bring that up. The fact of the matter is that Notre Dame was more physical at the point of attack on both sides of the ball which won them the game.
Not to mention Clemson won that game with the literal exact same pick play that Notre Dame used that would have beat Jameis Winston’s Fla St team the year before, but was called illegal. Funny, the ACC didn’t think it was illegal when Clemson used it against ND. The refs even tried to screw ND again in this game when they picked up the obvious interference call with 2 min left at Dabo’s behest. As usual ND has to beat not only their opponent but the refs as well. Makes this win even sweeter.
Great win for ND. 40 and 6 the last 4 seasons... and finally a top 5 win! #1 no less... ND is legit as it gets. National Championship is all that's left to do.
This was a big win for the program and yes it did feel similar to the 1993 Florida State game when Notre Dame played them and beat them naughty just got to stay the course of the rest of the season and who knows what could happen it could be as special yeah but we'll see but that's a big word for the program which was long overdue
This game was a neck-to-neck duke it out all the way of two heavyweights. That incredible 51 yd Ian Book pass to #3 Avery Davies was what kept ND afloat with 1 min left. When #3 outran his opponent's defensive backs to be in the clear to receive Ian's jettisoned ball was like a heaven sent rescue. That was the moment ND got out of its eggshell past of sickening bruising losses to big name clubs, and come out victorious on its own in front of the nation.
Everyone expected ND to get waxed and be the same old ND. I had a feeling they'd be able to win, but I honestly thought the game was over when Clemson went up 33-26, but my oh my Ian Book said "Not Tonight". ND was spectacular. Defense needs fixing. Cause even last years playoff allowed 500+ yards in both games. I hope Venables can coach them up into championship defense soon.
Tom Rees deserves a lot of credit. He's called all the plays for two seasons and has done a tremendous job. The guy is only 22 years old and has moved his way up all the way to offensive coordinator in 3 years. I think he's something very special. He will be head coach somewhere eventually.
The refs completely made themselves the center of attention in this game. That crew had better not be around for the rematch! That one time they picked up the Pass Interference Flag, because Dabo Swinney shrieked in their ears about it, was one of the most blatant examples of referees "playing favorites" in a game, that I have ever seen! Notre Dame didn't just beat eleven Clemson players on the field. They also beat about six additional human beings, wearing striped shirts, who were trying so desperately hard to preserve Clemson's undefeated record, to make the ACC look better, I'm surprised they didn't try to give Clemson a FIFTH DOWN, in second overtime, to try and score.

watched as much as I could , but seeing the highlights , I am glad to say that Clemson put up a fight but LOST anyway, way to go Irish.
clemson lost, but still shut up all doubters.
i hope they still have a chance to make the playoffs.
Guess who LOST today??? LMFAO
Great win for ND. 40 and 6 the last 4 seasons... and finally a top 5 win! #1 no less... ND is legit as it gets. National Championship is all that's left to do.

@jim spurlock we’ll see I guess
Notre Dame is just such a great college! If you want good education and great sports thats the college for you.
Heck yea RALLY

Georgetown is better. Notre Dame is too ultra right wing.
@@gaddiemediaguy what are you talking about?
Everyone expected ND to get waxed and be the same old ND. I had a feeling they'd be able to win, but I honestly thought the game was over when Clemson went up 33-26, but my oh my Ian Book said "Not Tonight". ND was spectacular. I'm an OSU fan and if they played that game would be a heavyweight fight. ND would probably win. They are just that good.

All credit to the Notre Dame Irish......It's easy to see what happened here.......Notre Dame held the best RB in the country Travis Etienne to 38yds on 18 carries.....The Irish defense is elite this season, and played lights out....Notre Dame is a complete team and has some swagger to them. The ND OL dominated our DL PERIOD....We couldn't open any holes to free up Travis Etienne. You can't give free TDs to Notre Dame on a silver platter by fumbling the ball 3times......WE will be fine and bounce back, trust me. I just hope and pray we play them again in Charlotte with the 5 starters that are out...... Congrats Notre Dame, you played fundamental and disciplined football, and we were not clean at all. GO TIGERS!!!!.........I hope we both get in the playoffs....2 ACC teams would be great and how great would it be if the IRISH joined the ACC permenatly.....We could have these type games every season!!!!! Tom Rees deserves a lot of credit. He's called all the plays for two seasons and has done a tremendous job. The guy is only 22 years old and has moved his way up all the way to offensive coordinator in 3 years. I think he's something very special. He will be head coach somewhere eventually.

No one:
Absolutely no one:
Refs: That play is under *further review*
@@shindari 100% agree. that PI call was BLATANT and later they made a call for PI against ND that was less deserving. I think honestly they spent so much time reviewing because they didn't want to be accused of deciding the winner after they messed up in the 4th quarter.
I don't care what anyone says, with or without the great Trevor Lawrence, Notre Dame still wins this game. They played Clemson's best QB Saturday night. All I have to say is, *GO IRISH* !!! Welcome back among the elite!!
They had better enjoy this season. When four of their five O-line starters leave what are they going to do then?

What a stupid comment! Over the last half dozen years Clemson has played every major college team. Some two or three times. Look and see what the outcome has been. Been in the NC game how many times? Truly ignorant!
@@dcburg I think he means this season you have to take into the fact that the only other ranked tean they've played is miami FL. You have take into the fact both teams played well but one team played better. Look at Clemson's defence it wasn't as good as it was 2 games ago. There are things as a team they need to improve on but other than that both teams are amazing. What I'm saying is it's not a stupid comment but you made a stupid reply just becuase Clemson has beat other major teams doesn't determain how they'll play next week or next year the past IS the past.
I am sooo happy that ND finally beat a great team. I remember the win vs Fla st. In 1993. It feels the same. Problem is I also remember the next game against BC. The same team they will face next week. Maaan I hope its not the same script.
And the Irish might pay a price for the field invasion. But ND came to play and Clemson underestimated them

I think Notre Dame wanted this game just a little bit more.
That said, Clemson still looks like a pretty good football team.
Rees made Venables feel like he was back at OU.
