I have the other version of the white one you have. It keeps the snow out and protects from harsh cold winds in the winter. But all my smaller palms I put a foam box over it that I found at the dollar store
@@jimspalmsuk5098 for cordyline you use same soil mix as for Butyagrus palm? Be very interested to see how the pigmy date palm copes with being planted outside in winter? Kind of hard tieing up fronds with all those thorns
@garymarshall1246 The pygmy is under cover in a raised bed. I have heat cable if it goes under-3 c . Yes you can use the same soil mix for cordylines 👍
Wonderful garden my friend well done 👍 And now I am your new subscriber please stay connected 👍

@ward1compost Foam boxes are extremely good indeed, unfortunately I don't have any. But will definitely look out for some 👍
Also jim I have three Charlie Boy cordylines, may also use pop up green house or just use fleece
@garymarshall1246 Yeah I will be using fleece bags on some of my cordylines, with the leaves tied up. And just pop the off on mild days 👍
@@jimspalmsuk5098 doesn't the fleece bags let the air in
@garymarshall1246 They do, but if it's really wet humidity and mould built up

Jim, would a 31" high portable pop up green house be OK for the Butyagrus eriospatha from Cold Hardy Palms
@garymarshall1246 Yeah, if it has a zip opening, you can open when mild to allow air flow. You don't want humidity building up. 👍
@jimspalmsuk5098 would Hesian be also OK Jim
@garymarshall1246 it can be used for short periods for hard frost's, but I wouldn't use for long as it will hold to much moisture.
