For QoT, I think they fell apart after the miscarriage because he was in disbelief and disappointed at her, also mad because she acted like their firstborn was nothing and just a THING or a NEED (tho she did cry in secret). I think it built up there and their communication just kept getting worse + the pressure from Haein’s family.
lovely runner was so impactful in my life, i broke up with my ex during the last 4-6 episodes while listening to sudden shower because i was being treated bad. in my head, if sunjae could wait all those years and treat sol nicely after all those years, aint no way im holding on to 8 months of utter pain. thanks lovely runner ❤
Queen of tears is my most favourite kdrama of 2024. I loved the part where haein and her family go to live in the village and how they slowly adapt to that kinda life. But I was kinda disappointed with the ending
Unpopular opinion but QoT is much more realistic drama than when the phone rings ML is happy for short period of time is actually understandable as understand his situation he was trapped in that house upto the point he has to go therapist if it was FL instead of him everyone would have call the ML toxic His rxn was kinda natural until he realised the depth of situation and he felt guilty for that for the rest of drama QoT is best ❤
The atypical family, pyramid game and mr plankton is so underrated and unique drama i luv them My demon, weeding impossible and a good day to be a dog was unbearable i end up leaving in the middle I was tired of the same plot with 0 chemistry 😅

Pyramid Game was my second favorite k-drama of the year and both Mr. Plankton and the Atypical Family were in my Top 10. I also agree that My Demon and Wedding Impossible were major disappointments, but I did get a kick out of A Good Day to Be a Dog because despite its many imperfections I thought Park Gyu-young was downright hilarious in that show.
I don't see anyone, not a single soul, talk about the amazing drama DOCTOR SLUMP here. That k drama was bomb. I don't think it is getting the recognition it actually deserves. Actors did an amazing role in displaying the emotional broken characters and their hardships. The scenes was over the top. The ending was literally the cutest and the contract between how the ml had money but no family support system. On the other hand, the fl had financial hardships but was lived by her family. The ml seeked that comfort, which lacked in his life, in the fl's family. Loved the drama and just loved the whole vibe throughout the drama❤❤❤ 10/10 and 5 star rating from me. I don't care what you say. If you disagree argue with the wall cuz I ain't ever changing my opinion.🎉
I actually don't think this is an uncommon opinion! It's definitely a favorite amongst people who like this genre but I've seen it as "overrated" in a lot of lists... Not that I understand haha

@richtigress1652 Ayt I get your point. In real life it's easier said than done. What pissed me off was that he did not face that challenge by clearly thinking as a man. It wud have been better if he had told her about his feelings, and then getting some space technically speaking. I know y'all will say he was going to affect they friendship but mathematically speaking when romance comes into the picture, friendship is affected. Bottom line, he didn't man up to confess his feelings to the female lead in order for her process them wic I believe that was a no no for me. It technically showed his lack of confidence.
@tenywajimowen1002 yeah I get your point too honestly and i get that he didn't man up and stuff to say his feelings but I feel like it's frustrating to watch it on TV seeing people not confess their feelings due to fear of ruined friendship but normally that's what happens in real life like most people hesitantly confess and some actually never tbh so the proportion of people confessing their feelings is really low and also seeing she was recently in a relationship to be married would put him off even more out of fear of pressuring her and fear of being rejected cause it was evident she still loved her ex till like episode 10
The Judge from Hell easily became one of my most favorite kdramas. It was just so satisfying to watch and I didn't expect the chemistry between the main leads especially that it’s not a romance drama.
lol I gave up on judge from hell for the exact opposite reason. the chemistry was not chemistry-ing for me. the plot was so interesting but the writing was so boring to me. I did see a clip from..pretty sure the episode after I gave up of their kiss which seemed really good tbh. but like meh. lol
I watched lovely runner because everyone was talking about it. Thank goodness I was not spoiled about the twist. Only thing I knew before watching was it's about a fan and an idol which is funny because the plot isn''t even all about that lol. As soon as episode 2 ended, I couldn't stop watching. I became a fan of Byeon Wooseok because of this series. Definitely my kdrama of 2024
Okay I get what you want to say about Lovely Runner not being revolutionary, but honestly what drama, series, movie, book, story is at this point? Every story has taken inspiration from another story before them. But I do think LR was groundbreaking in a way where it had a lot of twists and turns I can't recall any other drama has done and I honestly till the end could not predict which way the story was going to go. In that aspect LR was very unique, because even though time travel is very common theme in kdramas, using it in this way is something I haven't seen before.
Yeah my point is that it wasnt the most unique concept but tbh I don't need that either 😭 I just want a story told well with a message that makes me feel and think and honestly I watch dramas to make me happy not ponder the meaning of life LOL. Ultimately I love low concept stories because the execution is everything and it makes all the difference!
Actually what you say is right as my historiography teacher says that every single story after the classics is technically a fanfic of another story and so on

@richtigress1652yeah I get when people are annoyed when a character does insecure human shit as a cheap plot device but lnd gave him genuine character growth. I think we grow and find better styles of communication and then expect everyone to be at that level when like...they aren't. especially when young. love seeing writing represent that complexity and natural flaw.

I actually didn't think queen of tears's plot line of him being glad she's was dying was silly because it made absolutely sense. He HATED her. He was glad she was dying because it meant he didn't have to deal with the consequences of announcing his divorce to her family and such anymore.. he'd be able to depart from her naturally. I'd be thrilled too if i were in such a troublesome situation to put it lightly
Exactly I think people just forget how traumatized he was with all the in-laws. His father in law even threatened him. What I actually find amusing is that roles were reversed and people didn't get that like there actual women in my country who are treated like him in the family.
people will call anything overrated once it gains an appropriate amount of attention and success (that it deserves) in order to be different you just had to be there for lovely runner...like dying for new episodes to release.. scouring twitter after every episode and days in between episodes, reading theories...listening to the OST while waiting...it was simply a moment u just had to be present like!!! i haven't seen a drama that perfect in a long time, like it just hit different. to this day I'm still reeling over their chemistry. oh and also had one of the best finale episodes of a drama I've ever seen, its crazy that something so simple is actually quite refreshing to see. Most dramas continue the drama/conflict until the very end but lovely runner wrapped it up before the 16th episode, thank god, and just gave us the sweetest most perfect happy fluff in the finale (literally needed bc of all the previous trauma lmao) i agree with everything u said like fr fr
My all time favorite was Queen of tears for me it was a story of hope, faith and forgiveness. I will have to disagree with you on the reason for the breakup not being that bad. A miscarriage is a horrible life changing event. My prayer is that no one has to go through that. I would have liked to see more of Hae en and Hyun Woo in the end but it was still a beautiful ending. 12/ 10 is my rating💐👏🏼💐👏🏽💐❤️
I definitely think a miscarriage is a huge deal. I think it was more the build up to make it the "shock" factor when this unfortunately does happen to many couples :( For me I also feel like he was in general very understanding of her despite her "colder" ways but when it came to the miscarriage he seemed to lose that patience which I thought was inconsistent with his character so far But also maybe since I haven't personally experienced I don't know how people can react to it differently, I guess I would've liked this information to have been revealed earlier to build on their character but I also get people understand things differently with their own lived experiences!

They had no support system and Hae en felt double guilt from losing her brother then her baby and finally her husband. But love and forgiveness sustained them. @@wendyminn he actually was trying to show support to her cause he understands the impacts of a miscarriage in a woman's life and was suffering the loss himself. But she was pretending to be fine with it, as if it was nothing. Try to be on his shoes: he lost the baby girl he was wishing to care and love and his wife treats the "product of their love" as a THING, as nothing. He had the right to be pissed off. What made thei marriage so terrible was the miscommunication. She had no reason to hide her feelings from the man that she promised to love and trust for the rest of her life!

Lovely Runner was everything. It is definitely my all time favorite drama until now. Beautifully made ❤ Also, I couldn’t help but fall for Byeon Wooseok. First time in my life being a fan of an actor. I am already looking forward to his next project
I feel we didn't watch the same show when you're talking about "When The Phone Rings". How do you know all those things? Is it that predictable? The show is amazing - everything, from the actors' performance, to their chemistry, to the plot twists, to the OST! It's one of the best dramas I've watched! And it's definitely not a rom-com - there's not enough comedy in this drama to say it's a rom-com. It's a thriller with a love story.
Yeah I was obsessed with it and i still am but then I think he could have given better reason for leaving Hee Joo alone in ep 12. Just that one moment I felt a little disappointed, I was even ok with the Argan plot.

Boy, did when the phone rings get worse, for me the ending or at least the first half of ep12, lowkey ruined it. Started out really strong but totally left me hanging in the end :(

The plot was new and refreshing and the characters were very well played. I don’t know why they decided to take the romcom route. It completely ruined it.
I totally agree, the premise was so new and interesting and I especially liked how there were no unnecessary love triangles, the thing with the psych doc resolved really quick and the news girl and FLs missing sister were even more supportiVe then anything. Just to see the absolutely unnecessary plotline they decided to introduce at the very end, and her walking into an active warzone dressed like she does an undercover run for alcohol remedies after a night out. And the whole first episode wasted on an Indiana-jones-level investigation, like: here is a made up country and there he maybe could be and there is a chapel where you see the sun go down nice ?? I was genuinely confused like what was I even seeing? - anyways had potential, now I‘ll only remember the stellar beginning and horrible ending

I do agree with you, The Midnight Romance in Hagwon is such a gem. I love how the dialogue is well-written, and the romantic moments are perfectly blended throughout the entire drama. The pacing is smooth, and the chemistry between the leads makes their interactions incredibly engaging. One thing I've definitely noticed is that there are certain scenes with no cuts, which effectively depict the portrayal of the characters. These long takes allowed for a deeper connection with the characters and gave the moments a sense of authenticity that's not often seen in other dramas.
Love next door. She had stomach cancer. She was giving him a hard time. He was in love with her since high school. He didn't know how to express himself the way she did. Much as I love her, I dislike the character because she hid so much from everyone and even the fact when they did start off a relationship she had her illness from everyone and he couldn't understand what the problem was making him feel more inferior. I love him and his character. No one knew why she wouldn't get another job. Not until her ex-fiance return and her pain returned. I kept getting upset and stopping the video and trying to watch something else but I did finish it. I wish you had to end it better but it was okay. As long as everyone's happy
She called him when she was in her lowest point but he didn't pick up, because he was mad she got bf and he was late...She had her faults too,but his overreacted without communicating was the worst.

I love love love "Lovely Runner"! It ticks all my K-drama boxes: - [x] Green flag male lead - [x] Great chemistry between the leads - [x] Fantastic soundtrack - [x] Time travel plotline - [x] Excellent actors - [x] Great Ending I 100% agree with you; a sense of childlike silliness is essential to appreciate this drama fully. I've often heard people describe and remember being young and silly in love while watching it. I never view being a hopeless romantic as a negative trait. Additionally, you can tell that the writer is female because she skillfully incorporates all the best K-drama tropes. I will try to watch "The Midnight Romance in Hagwon". The ratings and reviews turned me off, but I will try the first episode.
The whole gang of Good Partner was able to take the SBS Award home. That was a wow for me because it was a wow for me. I liked the professionalism in it.
Actually marry m'y husband was good bcs of the concept of time and butterfly effect.she could not directly change history without dying.....as a physique student i was more concerne about the science behind than the romance so it was realy a good concept 😂😂

One of my favourite kdramas from 2024 was family by choice. It was a Korean remake of the Chinese version go ahead and it was done so well. I would definitely recommend it for my fellow kdrama fans
@@donviajero2580 I've seen many comments of people who loved the Chinese version that also loved this one. it's definitely got differences it seems but probably worth a watch. some people even liked it more but if it's special to you I doubt you'll like it more. ☺️

Just...Lovely Runner is just the drama, period. I watched this K-drama as my first one, and omg, the OST, and no, this is my drama of the year. I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS DRAMA.
I dropped Love Next Door after 2 episodes. I was actually anticipating because I love the cast but the development is quite off. 22:50 It's quite silly indeed. But I think it's possible to hate someone that much after loving her deeply. At least it might happen after an amicable heartbreak. That's what the story didn't tell us clearly. Or they just didn't create enough build up about that. Toward the end, it's even funnier for me because Hyunwoo was suddenly developing into a very greeen flag guy. Haha. Meanwhile, Hae In actually also had a problem communicating her feeling and thought but her self-reflection didn't get enough build up as much as how Hyun-woo transforming into a super green flag guy until the end. They kinda focus on the villain which actually not the main problem of Baek-Hong marriage. Despite those things, I think it works quite well just because of Kim Soohyun and Kim Jiwon's great acting and intepretation.
The first few episodes of love next door were kind of boring,and it got kind of weird and the parents were Childish but some episodes were really good. Not good not bad I rate it a 6/10
My favourite this year was definitely the judge from hell. It was very refreshing and satisfying to watch how a demon from hell just straight up punishing bad people. Park shinhye's acting was on fire, my first time seeing her as a badass female lead and she ate this role uppp! The chemistry was very good despite it being a thriller-romance drama. I'm still obsessed with tjfh and hoping to see more dramas like this in the future! I would like to know your opinion on this drama too! How was ittt?
I also agree that shin hye ate the role up, I also wasn't expecting good chemistry because the main genre is thriller, Im not really into action so that's why I couldn't enjoy it as much 😅 but for something not my genre it was pretty good!
The best thing about LR was it simply taught me to be grateful for everything that i have right now. Really touched my heart when she finds her mom younger, her granny healthy and the very fact that she could wear heels and walk 🥹. Every moment in life is to be embraced ❤
Omg yes someone finally said it!!! Love next door was so boring. They literally had no chemistry. I took a gap from kdrama after lovely runner and thought I would finally get into watching dramas again. But nope. Hae in had more chemistry with jisoo even through she is a rookie actress. I didn't even complete snowdrop cause it was emotionally draining me but I absolutely loved the romance. I love hae in’s work and was looking forward to it but it disappointed me. Also completely agree on the fact that he is such a shitty friend like what? You are a grown man and you still can't set your feelings aside to care for your friend?
He wasn't a shity friend for putting himself first. It's not his fault he didn't know what was happening to the female lead life. People grow apart that's not a bad thing to put yourself first.
Haha I definitely wasn't bored at all! I enjoyed the first half and was straight angry in the second but at least it kept my attention! For chemistry I didn't feel "sexual tension" but they had a good friend chemistry which worked for me :) But yes hard agree on the him being a grown man and failing to communicate with his BEST FRIEND and wanting to cut her off 😭
Totally agree with you regarding Midnight Romance in Hagwon. It rarely shows up on top 10 lists and it was so well done. Boyhood was the only other 10 on my 2024 ranking list this last year. Thanks for appreciating this underrated kdrama.

for me lovely runner had so much potential but i really hate how they changed it from the webtoon so that ml didnt actually kill himself. like idk when i first saw the scene of his suicide i thought it was so impactful especially because of how taboo mental health is in korea and when so many idols suffer from it, but they were too scared to actually go with what happened in the manhwa and changed it to a murder disguised as a suicide instead. it just pissed me off because suicide is such a big problem in korea but 9 times out of 10 in kdramas they end up actually being a murder.
In a way I would totally agree with you! I love to see some good mental health representation but I personally liked the plot twist as it kept the show refreshing for me! I didn't expect it to be a murder (bc yeah it is a little random given murder isn't as common but I didn't mind simply bc I wasn't expecting it) Also part of me thinks it just might've been a safer decision given the scandal with lovely runners association with real life idols given the timing :( But I agree I would definitely love to see another story touch upon it one day! Hoping mental health awareness for idols will be raised in the future🤞🏻
Lovely runner was the best kdrama in 2024 and its ost sudden shower was amazing means when i listened it i just felt that some people who hurted me alot but i still have to keep in with them but after listening this song i don't know why but i don't have any touch with them and i am happy now and the moral of this story is realy nice
I feel the same way about Queen of Tears. I just couldn't get past him being happy after finding out she was dying... all the time we saw him being sad and wanting to help her, I was screaming in my head "you were happy and smiled when you first found out!!!" It's so sad, because the drama was great otherwise and their scenes together too..
Girl was literally mistreating him and others around them but go off I guess... don't pretend she was being a good human before they found out she was dying. He had all his reasons to hate her...I don't blame him one bit.
tbh i am surprised people weren’t able to get past it. i always felt like him being “happy” was him trying to deal w his trauma from being mistreated by the fl’s family. like he was super burnt out from the toxic environment on top of the fact that he and his wife weren’t really talking, so him learning of her disease didn’t hit him right away that it was gonna be permanent, but rather he saw it as an escape from his situation rather than realizing he would lose his wife in the process. and when he realizes that he still does love his wife, the gravity of the situation just came hard at him

@@vaii944 Well I won't lie but I started WTPR because of the plots and twists, without knowing who the leads were then I fell for their chemistry obviously. Just the ending part could have been better explained because mostly people thought it came out of nowhere though Hee Joo and Beak Yu Yeon's friend already discussed about how Yu Yeon and his friend already worked there in Argan. And ofcourse the reason he gave behind leaving Hee Joo could have been better, that's all. Overall the drama was great for me. I am not going to judge the whole drama because of the first half of the 12th episode. I absolutely loved the drama. 😊❤✨
Lovely runner for me made me get connected basically with just that 7min intro acting by fl, throughout she has been source of connection to drama, as u c its monotonous at the end... but her performance made me watch it, at the end she too kinda disappointed few scenes... but ending was heart fluttering, so worth it
Finally, someone appreciates Midnight romance in Hagwon!! For me, it had the same artsy vibe as Secret Love Affair (another favorite of mine), and the dialogues, stories, and nuance that they keep putting on even the little conversations that gave you the context of what the society or the people surrounding the main characters where thinking and their moral compasses was just so refreshing. Not everything needed to be bluntly explained by a character to get to the audience and that was just beautiful

Lovely Runner is my favorite kdrama of all time. I've been watching kdramas for 20ish years. It's also the only drama I've seen many times. Usually I'm one and done even with dramas I enjoyed. Also the OST was fire.
32:36 I loved Good Partner, and one of the many things I loved about this is the dynamic between Cha Eunkyung (Jang Nara's character) and Jung Woojin (Kim Junhan). Their moments were sprinkled here and there throughout the drama, but you could see how sincere and profound their relationship was. It might not be romantic, but they deeply cared for each other. Usually, when rumors about the leads arise in dramas, there's one misunderstanding or the other, but they didn't let the rumors change their relationship. They were both very supportive towards each other. Woojin's feelings were of one-sided love, so I'm sure romance couldn't have developed in those circumstances, especially because Eunkyung was in a very challenging period during her divorce. So I absolutely love how respectful of boundaries Woojin was, making sure to hide his feelings so well that only those very close to him caught on to. Even in the end, it wouldn't be ideal for them both to be together because Eunkyung might think it would be unfair to her daughter, Jaehee, who might not be ready to accept a stepfather.
I agree with you on the marry my husband take. I personally enjoyed it until I think its episode 10ish? Basically the episode where her husband and Bestie get married, to me after that episode I was satisfied and idk I felt like the story was over I was so shocked to find out there was 6 more episodes. And those last 6 were such a mess not even in an entertaining way

When I dived in just a few seconds in, i fell in love with the drama lovely. It was well written.I can just say it beat queen of tears to the finish line. I would have given it a 20 out of 10 if that was possible.
So Lovely Runner was definitely one of my hyperfixations this year. Ended up doing a breakdown of the complete timelines to keep track & also fill in some references that might be missed by people newer to kdramas on MDL. Lots of rewatching pausing and enhancing to see dates & times. I just enjoyed it so much & I know it might not be for everyone, but it was definitely made for my 33(at the time it aired) kdrama romance girlie heart.
Another reason Lovely Runner gained popularity during its airing was due to Queen of Tears. Both are tvN dramas. Queen of Tears aired on weekends, often leaving viewers emotional and drained. Lovely Runner, airing on Mondays and Tuesdays, provided a refreshing and uplifting escape, helping viewers recover from the emotional weight of Queen of Tears.
Excuse me 😂😂…in spite of not much promotion lovely runner gained a lot more hype on a non-popular digital platform . When QOT released ig lv was still airing and popular . Fans created this competition of viewership that’s it cause QOT got released on Netflix and also the actors being already popular… byeon wooseok’s popularity reached peak only after lovely runner 😅 and totally deserve it though . There is no doubt this drama is better than QOT

Yall really make me feel like I watched the wrong show with WTPR. Everyone is constantly praising it but my mom and and I just found it hilariously silly. Like how did he a whole government official not realize that his wife was 306? Also, why would he send her alone to an amusement park in the middle of the night after just having a bad accident while there’s a stalker just to reveal that he knows it’s her now? Also if he loved her, why was he SO COLD FOR THREE YEARS?! Also why did she not speak to him once they got married? He wouldn’t have told anyone and she could have a confidante. THANK YOU! There were so many questionable parts throughout the drama. Not to mention that last episode. I dropped it on episode 8 but I’ve seen short videos of the ending and the way my jaw drop bc even when I thought it was silly and bad I could still kinda see why people would watch it but after seeing that last episode I can’t believe production agreed to release that

Didn't have as much time to watch dramas in 2024 but I would say some of my personal favorites were shop for killers, light shop, family matters and doctor slump. Didn't find the right time to watch lovely runner but i did statt it earlier this week and i can already tell I'll love it. When the phone rings aswell is up there for me actually watching the final two episodes now to see how it ends.
My one of the most favorite drama is Love next door. It was like soothing drama for me. Not that much plot, not fascinating story but just normal, sweet love story i love it❤❤❤
Queen of tears was really good actually my first kdrama but the ending could have been better i thought we would get some kisses romantic moments between they just skipped the time just one scene with the son and then she dies.ending could have been better but overall it was pretty good.
Preach SISTA!!!! Marry My Husband - 2nd half went downhill off a cliff. Also yes PMY can do alot, but she can't carry the drama as well as ML chemistry Love Next Door - Borrringggg. 5:05 FRR!!! At first glance, I really liked it, but after thinking about it, I realized it was actually boring. The two main characters didn’t have any chemistry, and everything felt so random-including the storyline!
I do get chemistry from no gain no love, not immediately but I can see the moment they each fell for the other, so thought it was cute. Also love how sex positive it is without being sex exploitative, which I found refreshing
QOT was just incredible- I hadn’t even planned to watch it and after a series k drama slump fell in love with it. I felt like their chemistry, the soundtrack and cinematography was incredible and loved every episode. It was a more mature/subtle kind of love but if you did connect you felt it deeply. I didn’t love the use side characters and ep 16 was a bit of a let down but still overall my fav

Thank you for the recommendations. I loved miss night and day, was fun (specially the beginning) and mixed a lot of different emotions but it's true it was lacking romancewise.
Midnight Romance in Hagwon….. loved how the lead had unfortunate circumstances that derailed her plans for college etc. but she grabbed life by the horns and made that industry her own for so long. I felt even a season 2 could’ve happened because the co-workers also had beautiful stories. Love how Junho’s best friend is basically a lifelong academic and we have a realistic lens on him…. so much to say about it!
Just finished rewatching and I agree! I love the unique backgrounds of every character, especially on Junho's best friend! As someone who surrounded myself by academically driven people his character felt so familiar to me, the joking about being poor and complaining about school, but secretly loving it and nerding out when he can. That dude has such great women in his life from his rich mom to rich gf 💀 I'd love to be him

Love next door was flatter than a pancake, asinine story, like from the 90ies, K drama seems to have as a plot premise that the protagonists NEVER talk to each other, and are NEVER. honest, to keep the plot moving. a lot like cdrama then...
The chemistry between the characters is what makes or breaks a drama for me. This is also why even tho lovely runner did quite a few things i usually dislike in dramas it's still one of my favorites this year. I love how the ml is such a loser in love so whenever a misunderstanding or something happens, i know it's not gonna ruin everything, everything is gonna be fine and that just gave me so much confort.
My opinion on queen of tears of his divorce. He as so frustrated from her family hierarchical dominance and the way she don't seem to care or support infront of her family makes him to fill the divorce. I too fell him how he was going through since I had such experience in life. I just love queen of tears and there is so much emotions in queen of tears

For QoT, I think they fell apart after the miscarriage because he was in disbelief and disappointed at her, also mad because she acted like their firstborn was nothing and just a THING or a NEED (tho she did cry in secret). I think it built up there and their communication just kept getting worse + the pressure from Haein’s family.
lovely runner was so impactful in my life, i broke up with my ex during the last 4-6 episodes while listening to sudden shower because i was being treated bad. in my head, if sunjae could wait all those years and treat sol nicely after all those years, aint no way im holding on to 8 months of utter pain. thanks lovely runner ❤

Pyramid Game was my second favorite k-drama of the year and both Mr. Plankton and the Atypical Family were in my Top 10. I also agree that My Demon and Wedding Impossible were major disappointments, but I did get a kick out of A Good Day to Be a Dog because despite its many imperfections I thought Park Gyu-young was downright hilarious in that show.
I don't see anyone, not a single soul, talk about the amazing drama DOCTOR SLUMP here. That k drama was bomb. I don't think it is getting the recognition it actually deserves. Actors did an amazing role in displaying the emotional broken characters and their hardships. The scenes was over the top. The ending was literally the cutest and the contract between how the ml had money but no family support system. On the other hand, the fl had financial hardships but was lived by her family. The ml seeked that comfort, which lacked in his life, in the fl's family. Loved the drama and just loved the whole vibe throughout the drama❤❤❤ 10/10 and 5 star rating from me. I don't care what you say. If you disagree argue with the wall cuz I ain't ever changing my opinion.🎉

It wud have been better if he had told her about his feelings, and then getting some space technically speaking. I know y'all will say he was going to affect they friendship but mathematically speaking when romance comes into the picture, friendship is affected. Bottom line, he didn't man up to confess his feelings to the female lead in order for her process them wic I believe that was a no no for me. It technically showed his lack of confidence.

The Judge from Hell easily became one of my most favorite kdramas. It was just so satisfying to watch and I didn't expect the chemistry between the main leads especially that it’s not a romance drama.

I watched lovely runner because everyone was talking about it. Thank goodness I was not spoiled about the twist. Only thing I knew before watching was it's about a fan and an idol which is funny because the plot isn''t even all about that lol. As soon as episode 2 ended, I couldn't stop watching. I became a fan of Byeon Wooseok because of this series. Definitely my kdrama of 2024

Okay I get what you want to say about Lovely Runner not being revolutionary, but honestly what drama, series, movie, book, story is at this point? Every story has taken inspiration from another story before them. But I do think LR was groundbreaking in a way where it had a lot of twists and turns I can't recall any other drama has done and I honestly till the end could not predict which way the story was going to go. In that aspect LR was very unique, because even though time travel is very common theme in kdramas, using it in this way is something I haven't seen before.
Yeah my point is that it wasnt the most unique concept but tbh I don't need that either 😭 I just want a story told well with a message that makes me feel and think and honestly I watch dramas to make me happy not ponder the meaning of life LOL. Ultimately I love low concept stories because the execution is everything and it makes all the difference!

I think we grow and find better styles of communication and then expect everyone to be at that level when like...they aren't. especially when young. love seeing writing represent that complexity and natural flaw.

I actually didn't think queen of tears's plot line of him being glad she's was dying was silly because it made absolutely sense. He HATED her. He was glad she was dying because it meant he didn't have to deal with the consequences of announcing his divorce to her family and such anymore.. he'd be able to depart from her naturally. I'd be thrilled too if i were in such a troublesome situation to put it lightly

Exactly I think people just forget how traumatized he was with all the in-laws. His father in law even threatened him. What I actually find amusing is that roles were reversed and people didn't get that like there actual women in my country who are treated like him in the family.

you just had to be there for lovely runner...like dying for new episodes to release.. scouring twitter after every episode and days in between episodes, reading theories...listening to the OST while waiting...it was simply a moment u just had to be present like!!! i haven't seen a drama that perfect in a long time, like it just hit different. to this day I'm still reeling over their chemistry. oh and also had one of the best finale episodes of a drama I've ever seen, its crazy that something so simple is actually quite refreshing to see. Most dramas continue the drama/conflict until the very end but lovely runner wrapped it up before the 16th episode, thank god, and just gave us the sweetest most perfect happy fluff in the finale (literally needed bc of all the previous trauma lmao)

My all time favorite was Queen of tears for me it was a story of hope, faith and forgiveness. I will have to disagree with you on the reason for the breakup not being that bad. A miscarriage is a horrible life changing event. My prayer is that no one has to go through that. I would have liked to see more of Hae en and Hyun Woo in the end but it was still a beautiful ending. 12/ 10 is my rating💐👏🏼💐👏🏽💐❤️
I definitely think a miscarriage is a huge deal. I think it was more the build up to make it the "shock" factor when this unfortunately does happen to many couples :(
For me I also feel like he was in general very understanding of her despite her "colder" ways but when it came to the miscarriage he seemed to lose that patience which I thought was inconsistent with his character so far

But she was pretending to be fine with it, as if it was nothing. Try to be on his shoes: he lost the baby girl he was wishing to care and love and his wife treats the "product of their love" as a THING, as nothing. He had the right to be pissed off. What made thei marriage so terrible was the miscommunication. She had no reason to hide her feelings from the man that she promised to love and trust for the rest of her life!

I feel we didn't watch the same show when you're talking about "When The Phone Rings". How do you know all those things? Is it that predictable? The show is amazing - everything, from the actors' performance, to their chemistry, to the plot twists, to the OST! It's one of the best dramas I've watched! And it's definitely not a rom-com - there's not enough comedy in this drama to say it's a rom-com. It's a thriller with a love story.

The plot was new and refreshing and the characters were very well played. I don’t know why they decided to take the romcom route. It completely ruined it.
I totally agree, the premise was so new and interesting and I especially liked how there were no unnecessary love triangles, the thing with the psych doc resolved really quick and the news girl and FLs missing sister were even more supportiVe then anything.
Just to see the absolutely unnecessary plotline they decided to introduce at the very end, and her walking into an active warzone dressed like she does an undercover run for alcohol remedies after a night out.
And the whole first episode wasted on an Indiana-jones-level investigation, like: here is a made up country and there he maybe could be and there is a chapel where you see the sun go down nice ?? I was genuinely confused like what was I even seeing?

I do agree with you, The Midnight Romance in Hagwon is such a gem. I love how the dialogue is well-written, and the romantic moments are perfectly blended throughout the entire drama. The pacing is smooth, and the chemistry between the leads makes their interactions incredibly engaging. One thing I've definitely noticed is that there are certain scenes with no cuts, which effectively depict the portrayal of the characters. These long takes allowed for a deeper connection with the characters and gave the moments a sense of authenticity that's not often seen in other dramas.
Love next door. She had stomach cancer. She was giving him a hard time. He was in love with her since high school. He didn't know how to express himself the way she did. Much as I love her, I dislike the character because she hid so much from everyone and even the fact when they did start off a relationship she had her illness from everyone and he couldn't understand what the problem was making him feel more inferior. I love him and his character. No one knew why she wouldn't get another job. Not until her ex-fiance return and her pain returned. I kept getting upset and stopping the video and trying to watch something else but I did finish it. I wish you had to end it better but it was okay. As long as everyone's happy
She called him when she was in her lowest point but he didn't pick up, because he was mad she got bf and he was late...She had her faults too,but his overreacted without communicating was the worst.

I 100% agree with you; a sense of childlike silliness is essential to appreciate this drama fully. I've often heard people describe and remember being young and silly in love while watching it. I never view being a hopeless romantic as a negative trait. Additionally, you can tell that the writer is female because she skillfully incorporates all the best K-drama tropes.
I will try to watch "The Midnight Romance in Hagwon". The ratings and reviews turned me off, but I will try the first episode.

One of my favourite kdramas from 2024 was family by choice. It was a Korean remake of the Chinese version go ahead and it was done so well. I would definitely recommend it for my fellow kdrama fans

I dropped Love Next Door after 2 episodes. I was actually anticipating because I love the cast but the development is quite off.
22:50 It's quite silly indeed. But I think it's possible to hate someone that much after loving her deeply. At least it might happen after an amicable heartbreak. That's what the story didn't tell us clearly. Or they just didn't create enough build up about that. Toward the end, it's even funnier for me because Hyunwoo was suddenly developing into a very greeen flag guy. Haha. Meanwhile, Hae In actually also had a problem communicating her feeling and thought but her self-reflection didn't get enough build up as much as how Hyun-woo transforming into a super green flag guy until the end. They kinda focus on the villain which actually not the main problem of Baek-Hong marriage. Despite those things, I think it works quite well just because of Kim Soohyun and Kim Jiwon's great acting and intepretation.
The first few episodes of love next door were kind of boring,and it got kind of weird and the parents were Childish but some episodes were really good. Not good not bad I rate it a 6/10
My favourite this year was definitely the judge from hell. It was very refreshing and satisfying to watch how a demon from hell just straight up punishing bad people. Park shinhye's acting was on fire, my first time seeing her as a badass female lead and she ate this role uppp! The chemistry was very good despite it being a thriller-romance drama. I'm still obsessed with tjfh and hoping to see more dramas like this in the future! I would like to know your opinion on this drama too! How was ittt?
I also agree that shin hye ate the role up, I also wasn't expecting good chemistry because the main genre is thriller, Im not really into action so that's why I couldn't enjoy it as much 😅 but for something not my genre it was pretty good!

I took a gap from kdrama after lovely runner and thought I would finally get into watching dramas again. But nope. Hae in had more chemistry with jisoo even through she is a rookie actress. I didn't even complete snowdrop cause it was emotionally draining me but I absolutely loved the romance. I love hae in’s work and was looking forward to it but it disappointed me. Also completely agree on the fact that he is such a shitty friend like what? You are a grown man and you still can't set your feelings aside to care for your friend?

Haha I definitely wasn't bored at all! I enjoyed the first half and was straight angry in the second but at least it kept my attention! For chemistry I didn't feel "sexual tension" but they had a good friend chemistry which worked for me :)

for me lovely runner had so much potential but i really hate how they changed it from the webtoon so that ml didnt actually kill himself. like idk when i first saw the scene of his suicide i thought it was so impactful especially because of how taboo mental health is in korea and when so many idols suffer from it, but they were too scared to actually go with what happened in the manhwa and changed it to a murder disguised as a suicide instead. it just pissed me off because suicide is such a big problem in korea but 9 times out of 10 in kdramas they end up actually being a murder.
In a way I would totally agree with you! I love to see some good mental health representation but I personally liked the plot twist as it kept the show refreshing for me! I didn't expect it to be a murder (bc yeah it is a little random given murder isn't as common but I didn't mind simply bc I wasn't expecting it) Also part of me thinks it just might've been a safer decision given the scandal with lovely runners association with real life idols given the timing :(
But I agree I would definitely love to see another story touch upon it one day! Hoping mental health awareness for idols will be raised in the future🤞🏻

I feel the same way about Queen of Tears. I just couldn't get past him being happy after finding out she was dying... all the time we saw him being sad and wanting to help her, I was screaming in my head "you were happy and smiled when you first found out!!!" It's so sad, because the drama was great otherwise and their scenes together too..
Girl was literally mistreating him and others around them but go off I guess... don't pretend she was being a good human before they found out she was dying. He had all his reasons to hate her...I don't blame him one bit.

tbh i am surprised people weren’t able to get past it. i always felt like him being “happy” was him trying to deal w his trauma from being mistreated by the fl’s family. like he was super burnt out from the toxic environment on top of the fact that he and his wife weren’t really talking, so him learning of her disease didn’t hit him right away that it was gonna be permanent, but rather he saw it as an escape from his situation rather than realizing he would lose his wife in the process. and when he realizes that he still does love his wife, the gravity of the situation just came hard at him

@@vaii944 Well I won't lie but I started WTPR because of the plots and twists, without knowing who the leads were then I fell for their chemistry obviously. Just the ending part could have been better explained because mostly people thought it came out of nowhere though Hee Joo and Beak Yu Yeon's friend already discussed about how Yu Yeon and his friend already worked there in Argan. And ofcourse the reason he gave behind leaving Hee Joo could have been better, that's all. Overall the drama was great for me. I am not going to judge the whole drama because of the first half of the 12th episode. I absolutely loved the drama. 😊❤✨
Lovely runner for me made me get connected basically with just that 7min intro acting by fl, throughout she has been source of connection to drama, as u c its monotonous at the end... but her performance made me watch it, at the end she too kinda disappointed few scenes... but ending was heart fluttering, so worth it
Finally, someone appreciates Midnight romance in Hagwon!! For me, it had the same artsy vibe as Secret Love Affair (another favorite of mine), and the dialogues, stories, and nuance that they keep putting on even the little conversations that gave you the context of what the society or the people surrounding the main characters where thinking and their moral compasses was just so refreshing. Not everything needed to be bluntly explained by a character to get to the audience and that was just beautiful

Lovely Runner is my favorite kdrama of all time. I've been watching kdramas for 20ish years. It's also the only drama I've seen many times. Usually I'm one and done even with dramas I enjoyed. Also the OST was fire.
32:36 I loved Good Partner, and one of the many things I loved about this is the dynamic between Cha Eunkyung (Jang Nara's character) and Jung Woojin (Kim Junhan). Their moments were sprinkled here and there throughout the drama, but you could see how sincere and profound their relationship was. It might not be romantic, but they deeply cared for each other. Usually, when rumors about the leads arise in dramas, there's one misunderstanding or the other, but they didn't let the rumors change their relationship. They were both very supportive towards each other. Woojin's feelings were of one-sided love, so I'm sure romance couldn't have developed in those circumstances, especially because Eunkyung was in a very challenging period during her divorce. So I absolutely love how respectful of boundaries Woojin was, making sure to hide his feelings so well that only those very close to him caught on to. Even in the end, it wouldn't be ideal for them both to be together because Eunkyung might think it would be unfair to her daughter, Jaehee, who might not be ready to accept a stepfather.
I agree with you on the marry my husband take. I personally enjoyed it until I think its episode 10ish? Basically the episode where her husband and Bestie get married, to me after that episode I was satisfied and idk I felt like the story was over I was so shocked to find out there was 6 more episodes. And those last 6 were such a mess not even in an entertaining way

When I dived in just a few seconds in, i fell in love with the drama lovely. It was well written.I can just say it beat queen of tears to the finish line. I would have given it a 20 out of 10 if that was possible.
So Lovely Runner was definitely one of my hyperfixations this year. Ended up doing a breakdown of the complete timelines to keep track & also fill in some references that might be missed by people newer to kdramas on MDL. Lots of rewatching pausing and enhancing to see dates & times. I just enjoyed it so much & I know it might not be for everyone, but it was definitely made for my 33(at the time it aired) kdrama romance girlie heart.

Fans created this competition of viewership that’s it cause QOT got released on Netflix and also the actors being already popular… byeon wooseok’s popularity reached peak only after lovely runner 😅 and totally deserve it though . There is no doubt this drama is better than QOT

Like how did he a whole government official not realize that his wife was 306? Also, why would he send her alone to an amusement park in the middle of the night after just having a bad accident while there’s a stalker just to reveal that he knows it’s her now? Also if he loved her, why was he SO COLD FOR THREE YEARS?! Also why did she not speak to him once they got married? He wouldn’t have told anyone and she could have a confidante. I have so many questions about this show, it doesn’t make sense 😓😓😓

Didn't have as much time to watch dramas in 2024 but I would say some of my personal favorites were shop for killers, light shop, family matters and doctor slump. Didn't find the right time to watch lovely runner but i did statt it earlier this week and i can already tell I'll love it. When the phone rings aswell is up there for me actually watching the final two episodes now to see how it ends.
My one of the most favorite drama is Love next door. It was like soothing drama for me. Not that much plot, not fascinating story but just normal, sweet love story i love it❤❤❤
Queen of tears was really good actually my first kdrama but the ending could have been better i thought we would get some kisses romantic moments between they just skipped the time just one scene with the son and then she dies.ending could have been better but overall it was pretty good.

QOT was just incredible- I hadn’t even planned to watch it and after a series k drama slump fell in love with it. I felt like their chemistry, the soundtrack and cinematography was incredible and loved every episode. It was a more mature/subtle kind of love but if you did connect you felt it deeply. I didn’t love the use side characters and ep 16 was a bit of a let down but still overall my fav

Thank you for the recommendations. I loved miss night and day, was fun (specially the beginning) and mixed a lot of different emotions but it's true it was lacking romancewise.

Midnight Romance in Hagwon….. loved how the lead had unfortunate circumstances that derailed her plans for college etc. but she grabbed life by the horns and made that industry her own for so long. I felt even a season 2 could’ve happened because the co-workers also had beautiful stories. Love how Junho’s best friend is basically a lifelong academic and we have a realistic lens on him…. so much to say about it!
Just finished rewatching and I agree! I love the unique backgrounds of every character, especially on Junho's best friend! As someone who surrounded myself by academically driven people his character felt so familiar to me, the joking about being poor and complaining about school, but secretly loving it and nerding out when he can. That dude has such great women in his life from his rich mom to rich gf 💀 I'd love to be him
I really liked Love next door, but I guess I just love Jung So-Min, I love her acting; she seems to put everything in what she does.
Me too I liked it a lot people imo hate it most because it was more of a realistic portrayal of a relationship of friends to lovers rather than the lovey dovey ones we usually get
Marry my husband was one of my favourite kdramas this year, it was really satisfying to watch because I love revenge related trops, I am currently watching Hierarchy and I kinda agree that the male leads are not upto it, and show is kinda boring, I am only liking it because of the side characters like He Ra..I liked the female lead too but her personality was a bit plain according to me, I honestly think Marry my husband is better than it because it was more enjoyable for me, and I haven't seen a kdrama similar to it
Love next door was flatter than a pancake, asinine story, like from the 90ies, K drama seems to have as a plot premise that the protagonists NEVER talk to each other, and are NEVER. honest, to keep the plot moving. a lot like cdrama then...
The chemistry between the characters is what makes or breaks a drama for me. This is also why even tho lovely runner did quite a few things i usually dislike in dramas it's still one of my favorites this year. I love how the ml is such a loser in love so whenever a misunderstanding or something happens, i know it's not gonna ruin everything, everything is gonna be fine and that just gave me so much confort.
I have enjoyed marry my husband even though the plot is regular it kept me thrilling throughout every episode

Midnight romance's dialogue and lighting/production sets up the actors so well. It was my favourite drama of the year!!
My opinion on queen of tears of his divorce. He as so frustrated from her family hierarchical dominance and the way she don't seem to care or support infront of her family makes him to fill the divorce. I too fell him how he was going through since I had such experience in life.
I just love queen of tears and there is so much emotions in queen of tears
