Polygamy is celebrated when it favors the man. But is frowned up when it favors women. If the wives or women of those men supporting polygamy decided that they also wanted more than one man, all hell would break loose. It’s selfish and one sided.

I dont support polygamy, but let's be real. If a woman tries it, it will ruin her life period. She will be a whole immediately without delay, and that's how the world sees it.

Polygamy does favour women, as it gives every woman the chance to be a wife. Monogamy leads to leftover women that are bitter.

      1. Biologically speaking men are designed to be polygamous . Due to extremely higher levels of testosterone ( men have on average between 17x-23x higher levels of testosterone than women) women are born with all the eggs that they produce. After puberty, they start dropping one egg a month ( on average), until menopause. Men produce millions of sperm cells every day from puberty until death. Once a woman gets pregnant, she’s out of commission for the next 3 years as far as reproduction is concerned, and she can typically only have one child within that time period. Men can have as many kids with as many women that they sleep with.
      2. Women are HYPERGAMOUS in nature ( quality over quantity). This is because they are vulnerable, especially during pregnancy and infants nursing. They also require massive amounts of resources and protection, that’s why they’re attracted to taller fit men with excess resources.

They are selfish that's all. A man wouldn't even want to share his side chick (a woman he's using for just sex) with another man. And yet they want women to be perfectly ok with sharing their husband.
Another debate topic should be are women polygamous. Men are acting like we don't have eyes and the desire to explore as well... but our upbringing, societal expectations, etc prevents us from admitting anything like that. But time and time again in our society we find married women cheating (and men raising a child that isn't theirs), single women sleeping around, etc. despite all the risks and slut shaming that may come with it.

what people do not realise is , polygamy did not arise as a benefit for men, polygamy actually benefits women than men in the sense that , polygamy isnt because men get to have multiple wives but its so because 'every woman' will have a husband
Many years ago, when men went to war(this is all over the world, from the vikings to roman empires etc) and lost their lives, they left behind a wife and children, it was necessary that these wives and children were supported therefore other men took on that responsibility thereby giving rise to having mulitple wives etc. it was about support system and it got stuck

The argument about men wanting to follow the path of their fathers as regards polygamous/ monogamous marriages has a faulty premise. There are lot of men who prefer monogamy because they've seen the damage polygamy can do.
My maternal grandfather had over 6 wives, and all his male children are monogamous

Polygamy doesn't have any benefits abeg. This is the thing with you people😂 other guy brought in research. Oga has probably never read a research paper in his life. The 'research' proves that polygamy is not good and is not doing anything good for anyone except fulfilling the selfish fleshly desires that you people worship so bad😭😭
Results of polygamous marriages are especially hard on the womem because they are more likely and prone to depression, jealousy, overall life dissatisfaction, marital dissatisfaction, etc. They are also more likely to be treated as objects than as a person with humans and emotions because of the many wives the husband has to 'cater' to and if you're unaware, that is how the concept of slaves began. You don't see people as your equal.
There are also obvious negative effects on men, more on how they begin to view and value they wives, taking them for granted, good example is the man in a white shirt and jeans with his 'if she vex me, i will go see another woman'🙄. Absolutely so vile. Humans, especially women are built for emotional conmection. Men too, no matter how many times they'll be forming hard guy. That many wives doesn't guarantee providing for them all equally. And notice how it's almost only and always poor men that go into this. Marrying more wives than they can handle and having more children than they can handle as well. Just blindly going after fleshly desires. This is why im the bible says that the flesh is evil. The only 'good' thing I've ever read on this topic is about fulfilling sexual desire. Is it only sex that makes up a human being? Is it only sex that is doing you people? It's not a flex ohh abeg. Not a flex at all!

It is rare for people to be polygamous, it always starts off mono then eventually they usually go "I'm dissatisfied with this aspect..yeah me too let bring someone else in" then what happens is one ends up leaving, usually the one that was there from the start... adding personal events , a friend of mines was actually kicked out of one because the other two were never satisfied with them ....but I agree that it's possible but it's the poor who do it more , some do it to run away from their certain partners by going to make babies with another, it's sad but it happens

Black American polyamorist here. Just wanted to say that commitment to monogamy and commitment to individual people are two different things. Love while an action, is also abundant in energy. We see it with parents with multiple children. Time, resources, and physical energy are finite though. No two people are the same though so no two relationships are the same so the love will always be different. But unconditional love is possible and not solely transactional love.
Also, I do believe majority of humans are nonmonogamous (there is a large umbrella of nonmonogamy. Not just polygamy nor polyamory). Majority of the species on Earth on nonmonogamous (males and females). But I do believe SOME people are inherently monogamous: they only have the capacity to romantically love one person at a time and/or pour into one relationship at a time.
But I'm glad they are talking about the impact of colonization and Christianity cause that's real.
I align with polyamory though. I as a woman desire multiple partners and the freedom of connection and don't believe that should be reserved for one person while others are monogamous to them.

Women in CS saying what if women are the ones pushing for polygamy? Well, nature can't be toyed with. Women want to bond with a man not men but if there is that woman who want to bond with men; i wish her the absolute best & i say this as a man who is not even pro polygamy.

    • @LME101_
      @LME101_ 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

…the only reason that it seems like women ‘want to bond with a man, not men’, is because of society. Society has made it so even this argument with the men pushing for polygamy and saying it’s their nature, it’s simply what society has allowed with even making the woman not believe that she should enjoy sex talk less of having options or knowing that she has options. If this was a man’s nature as most men proclaim, they actually haven’t seen cultures where it’s actually the women that are polygamous in nature and these women are the ones that rule and if the man or men don’t behave themselves, they change them. According to definition of what nature is, it transcends culture, yes? So why are there cultures where the reverse is the case? i.e women are the one who are polygamous. Again, it’s just society. It’s easy for a gender to say something is natural when it benefits them, but ‘woman wanting to bond with just a man’, I can tell you that it isn’t necessarily the case. Everyone wants variety 😂 everyone has wandering eyes, just because society makes women seem like they don’t have these things doesn’t make it so. To be honest if you think about it, bonding to just one man can be stressful 😂 let us all have variety; one man is extremely rich, the other is a good lover, another one just likes to clean, etc. there is healthy competition and we are all happy, no? Basically, what is good for the goose is good for the gander. That’s all I am saying.

Polygamy exists because sin exists! God is not a confusionist! He created one man and one wife, so anything polygamy exists as a result of sin, Bible or religion aside, there were people who are not Christians but still remained committed to their partner and I believe there are people who would still do that till today..I love the monogamists, they are very very intelligent and I love that guy on white, he's really honest, I love the fact that he is honest ❤️ and he has integrity, saying God put polygamy in the nature of man, please it's totally wrong, for what purpose exactly? God will put polygamy in the nature of man and God would still say, "thou shall not commit adultery"?? No now..as for mr Kingsley, his points are not wrong but the fact he accepts it personally to himself his girlfriend or wife needs be at alert o..

    We are animals with conscience.
We are animals because both men AND women, are driven by instinct: if a healthy man or woman see something they like their body will react to it.
The conscience comes to play in decision making: not everything that crosses through our mind we should do. An action being natural doesn’t make it right.
The implications of polygamy need to be discussed: the jealousy between the wives; the conflict between the kids; being a man old and having to deal with more than one wife and the kids that came out of the union; abuse between one wife and another’s wife children; inheritance issues…
What the men on the "pro polygamy" panel are failing to understand is that polygamy isn’t a way to avoid the responsibility of being faithful to your partner. Polygamy isn't an excuse for marital infidelity. You must commit to the wives you have and be loyal to them.
Men having lovers and cheating on their spouses isn't an argument in favour of polygamy, because:
    1) women cheat too but I don't see them using it to favour polyandry
    2) you can have multiple wives and still cheat
