very good. My frustration with lines is when I get a gizillion symbols while trying to place the second point, eg. square(snap), triangle, hand... .When drawing in 3d, can one select the axis to refer the angle with? ... and the plane. I am sure some of the symbols I question are part of this, but I can find no instruction or explanation about their use. I will now look for more of your command videos. Many thanks, Greg

dont know if you guys cares but if you guys are stoned like me atm you can stream all of the new movies on InstaFlixxer. Have been streaming with my gf during the lockdown :)
Well done. I am just learning F360 and look forward to your guidance. Your content is succinct and well done. Thank you for investing the time and effort.
I really like how you made a video just about the line, so that I could just look up "fusion 360 how to line" and find it. What I don't like is that there is a lot of information in this video that is completely useless. Like, we get that the line snaps to the grid, tell us directly how to use it. Playing this video in 1.5x speed is useful. On the other hand, this did help me, so good job :) liked the video
Nice video, But I do have a question: Lets say you have a box that is 50mm SQ. But now you want to divide the inside of the box to create box's within the large box. How to you start a line at a certain point along the 50mm line. Lets say 13mm from the corner. and then another box 20mm from there. Thanks for your help.
Hi, quick question. learning to use the sheet metal tool and i need to bend sheet metal along a line, accross a square. when i draw the line it will snap to either side of the square but i dont know how to possition the line in the correct place. lets say i want it 50mm away from a given edge. i dont know how to place it at 50mm. perhaps you can explain. thanks!!
i am back to working with Fusion (July 2021)...it's good you made all these videos as i need to familiarize myself with Fusion. Wish you could make a new STL importing/editing video, Fusion has changed the processes. More power!
I love your videos! I watch almost all of them. Thanks for sharing yor knowledge! Your voice is very pleasant and clear..i love it! Keep it up. Greets from Switzerland.
Hi, Ingo. Greetings from the US! I appreciate your kind words and I'm happy to hear you're enjoying the videos. I'll keep on making tutorials and don't plan on stopping anytime soon. Cheers, Kevin :)
well done video, useful addendum to the daily lessons. i'm glad for the additional instruction on the basic foundation elements such as the line tool since i'll probably be using that 95% 360fusion is open, and this makes things easier to figure out when fusion 360 doesn't do what i want it to do.
Hi, cmc 123! Thanks for watching and commenting! I'm happy to hear you find these shorter lessons on single commands useful. I'm going to continue to release more of these in 2019, with the end goal to build a solid library of videos to reference when users are wanting to learn a single command, or simply need a quick refresher. Wishing you a Happy New Year! Cheers, Kevin :)
Wait for me at 3:20 i can't place another line. It only lets me make one line (two points) and then asks me to select a new start point. Why cant i continue a chain of lines like you are?
Is there any way to create dashed lines? Im having problems when I save the 2D sketch as a DXF, it automatically turns all the construction lines into solid cut lines. I need to retain the construction lines or make them dashed lines so they know where to bend.
Hi Derek. What service are you uploading to? (any chance it's SendCutSend?). The save as DXF from a sketch workflow will (unfortunately) not work with dashed/bend lines. Saving from a Sheet Metal flat pattern or a 2D drawing (Drawing Workspace) will include them.

When I draw a line, then mirror it using an axix the end of the line is sitting on, the two line segments are not connected. Dots are showing at the vertex. How do I make the segments connect?

Hi, James. You will have to create the second line off of the first - the starting point of the second line should snap into the original line. Then, you can use the Dimension tool (letter D to activate) to dimension from that starting point to another point (whatever you have a known dimension of). Another option would be to add a "Sketch Point" to the line. The sketch point can also be dimensions to another point within the sketch geometry. You can then create the line off of the sketch point (it will automatically add a coincident constraint). Cheers, Kevin :)
Hi, Damian. Great question. Unfortunately, there is not any way to increase or decrease the thickness of sketch geometry. Your only option is to change your Display Settings > Environment style to one of the other options. The different environments will color the lines in a different way, which may make it easier for you to see. Cheers, Kevin :)

That can be done with the sketch dimension tool When selecting the two points to define a dimension, you'll select the edge of the existing box.
Thank you Kevin, I learned a new way of creating arc with line command selected

its not giving me the option to have lines in different planes
How to resize the lines after you already made them?
You can double click on the dimensions to edit the value at any time :)
Jump to 6, too much fluff for the point of the video.
