Mega Man 3 - Magnet Man's Stage

- I mentioned in yesterday's video description that I would be doing my favourite Mega Man game next, thus, here we go with Mega Man 3! I decided to try for a little extra spin to go along with this playthrough... My intention is to get through the 8 Robot Master stages without taking any damage. I am not going for a "Perfect" run as the DocRobots in the second run of the stages cheat by being fat... grumbles
Anyways... first up is Magnet Man... who is probably the robot master a lot of people start off with. If not him, then Top Man... one of the two. His stage is pretty simple, but the fact that it has the disappearing blocks of terror and destruction is one reason why I feel some people would prefer to start with Top Man so following the weakness pattern leads to getting to Magnet Man's stage while having Rush Jet, but eh, the blocks section is easy this time around. Other than that, Magnet Man's stage has... magnets. Is that a surprise? Probably not... Speed runners are probably a fan of the magnets in the first room though, as if you line yourself up right, the magnet can do all the work for you, hehe~
Magnet Man himself is pretty easy. His pattern makes it so he will never reach the far end of either side of the room, so you are mostly safe in the corners. If you stand directly under him while he is firing off his magnet missiles, they will fly away harmlessly off the screen, making him even more sad. The main risk is if you are stuck in the middle of the room while Magnet Man is crossing the screen as you need to have the location where it is safe to stand under his jumps memorized if you do not want to get a boot to the face.

Tell me about it. I tried to go after Needle man before this just so I can fly over them with Rush jet.
As a kid, I always started with either Snake Man or Magnet Man. I thought they were the easiest to beat with the Mega Buster.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who pretty much always started with Magnet Man! This guy's weapon is great, and really helps out if you get it early. Those parachuting enemies in Shadow Man's stage? They're gone in an instant with this bad boy! Makes that section a complete joke.
Magnets man has aimbot shooter which makes his op but the weakest against magemans m Buster would be top man

I did it in the same order until I did Gemini Man 6th instead of 7th.
I suffered the consequences.
I Take HardMan First cuz His Weapon Is Needed in Later Stages to break certain Blocks ;)

I start with HardMan actually. If you can get to him with enough health, and are not doing a no damage run, you can just spam the megabuster right next to him. You'll do more damage to him than he will to you

Same, I used always to start with Hardman, then Magnet or Gemini, Spark, Sanke, Top and I don't remeber the others, but usually Shadowman was the hardest.

I really like the stage music here. Might be my favorite of all the Mega Man stages you've posted so far.
i just learned today that those are magnets and not fans. 20 years later.
If anyone is having trouble with the blocks make sure you look to see which blocks are affected by the magnets before you start jumping. You don't have to do it as it's done in this video, it's possible to take a route without landing on the blocks that would pull you off.
I remember if you press "start" right after the screen scrolls down to Protoman's room, you will hear the remaining seconds of his whistling theme...

I started with Snake Man - beat him with Mega Buster. Not too hard once you know his pattern.
I proceeded to TOP MAN - easy with megabuster.
I used Top Man's spin on Shadow man. Then I used Shadow Man's blade on Spark Man. Now I'm about to use Spark man's spark shot on Magnet Man.
FORTUNATELY, all bosses are killable with Mega Buster only.
I do love the title song so much. When i first found a guitar version on youtube, i cried tears of joy.
Yeah... Mega Man 3 is probably better than Mega Man 2 in a lot of ways... Weapons, boss battles (though I can't deny Top Man is weaker than Flash Man and that Quick Man is probably stronger than Needle Man), soundtrack and utilities. But however, the Wily stages of Mega Man 2 are better and more challenging than Mega Man 3's, just lacking in visual design. Still, I give Mega Man 3 No.1 on my list of Mega Man games.
DatHoboJono your bias for megaman 2 is still showing, if you like it better, that's fine. But the wily stages in 3, while not perfect are far superior to the mm2 wily stages(the stage with the boss who can only be hurt with crash bombs is flat-out bad game design in every way). Also while top man might be the easiest boss in the series Needle man is tougher than quick man imo, I can beat quick man buster only but I find needle man a bit harder in terms of dodging attacks and damage taken.
Also the doc robot stages in 3 are both challenging and pretty cool, revisiting old stages in 3 that get destroyed/changed drastically to fight the robot masters of megaman 2 is super cool and makes mm3s end levels stuck out more than any other megaman game IMO

I use the emulator called FCEUX... It has that neat little input showing thing in the lower-left corner that I am fond of.

if you run back a little when you first start out you'll find one of those magnet guys going in the opposite direction and you can ride it through the whole first part of the level

I always start with Spark Man, for some reason I always thought he feels like a typical "first boss". Then I pick Snake Man after him.

The boss is ALWAYS harder in my gameplay than in these videos. When I play this level, Magnet Man almost never runs away from me. He runs into me and kicks my butt.

The reasons vary. One is that he's training him, fighting him to help Mega Man better prepare to face the other robots. Other times it's Dr. Wily's fault, reprogramming him, and what-not. I'm sure the reasons are as varied as the numbers in the series XD

It's strange that in this stage, the tiles that say "RW" were left here in the American version. I know "Dr. Right" was Dr. Light's Japanese name, but they could have edited that one tile here in the US release.
i always ALWAYS wondered why nintendo suggested you go to magnet man first. as a kid, i thought he was hard as balls. i started with top man. it wasnt until years later i found some good uses for the top spin! the hanging apes in hard man's stage? top spin knocks them out easily.

I always started with snakeman.
I don't know if you know this, Kitty, but on the Password screen, if you place a red dot in square A6, the game starts you off with 9 E-Tanks.

At 2:50~2:51, you don't have to wait for the last block, your jump is high enough.
At 2:55, you can stay on the first block and wait for the third to appear before jumping. You're just far enough that the fan magnet thingie doesn't pull you in.
In the last disappearing blocks part, you can simply jump from the third block to the other side.
Magnet Man's magnet move gets cancelled if you collide with him. Saves time if you're not going for a no damage run.

The reason why I do that is because Magnet Man is hard without Rush Jet (for me), But anyway when I first played the game (I did a blind run) I started with Snake Man and had no pain.
