I saw Sheynnis for the first time for few seconds while she was doing her evening gown walk during the national Miss Nicaragua… and right there, I knew she was going to be Miss Universe. Don’t know why, but I just knew. I believe she’s one of the best Miss Universe; maybe because very few can be so natural and spontaneous and at the same time be so elegant and classy.
I think is she is going to be the most favourite Miss Universe all time.

Even us from the Caribbean Islands (países bajos) were so happy that you won Miss Universe Sheynnis. When you won, it's like my own country won. Our country may have been colonized by Europeans but we feel a strong connection with Latin America. We are surrounded by the latin community all the time and even our food and music taste are influenced by the latin culture. We too could relate to your victory. You are a role-model for many young girls who are afraid to dream big. You are the Queen that was very much needed.

We all nicaraguans hope so, too. But this horrible government will not budge an inch for Sheynnis because, for them, anyone who can gather and attract more people than them is a threat (which is stupid), especially considering Sheynnis participated 5 yrs ago in some protests against the government. We really hope this authoritarian anti-democratic government leaves soon. 90% of us nicaraguans don't support them but we can't say or do anything. Otherwise, they incarcerate you or, even worse, they banish you from Nicaragua. It's a horrible situation.
